  • Patent number: 6164525
Abstract: The invention comprises a continuous hot rolling method in which a rear end portion of a preceding metal block and a fore end portion of a succeeding metal block are cut and the metal blocks are joined to each other by heating and pressing followed by a finish rolling. A region of each metal block is restrained from a clamping position to the end portion thereof in order to prevent a change in level of the metal blocks in heating and pressing the piece. The end portions of the metal blocks can be thus prevented from deformation.

  • Patent number: 6119058
Abstract: In a method and a device for controlling the servicing of an aircraft parked at a stand, the servicing is carried out from a plurality of servicing units which are stationarily arranged adjacent to the stand and which each are adapted to supply fuel, water, compressed air, preconditioned air or electric power to the aircraft or to service the toilets of the aircraft. A plurality of local computer units are each disposed in a a servicing unit and have an associated display as well as an associated inputting device. A central computer unit is connected to each of the local computer units and to an information receiver in or in the vicinity of the aircraft. The central computer unit transmits information to the local computer units of the servicing units on the servicing to be carried out. Each of the local computer units records information on the servicing carried out and transmits this information to the central computer unit, which in turn transmits the information to the information receiver.

  • Patent number: 6103783
Abstract: An elastic water-permeable polymeric concrete composition, a formulation method therefor, an elastic water-permeable polymeric concrete structure using the composition, and a method for constructing the structure. The polymeric concrete composition is formulated by integrating a rubber powder ground from waste tires or waste rubber and an aggregate using a polymeric binder, and if required, by adding a pigment and aromatic capsules capable of providing remedial and psychological effects. The polymeric concrete structure manufactured using such polymeric concrete composition has appropriate elasticity, water permeability, strength and a pleasant aroma. Thus, the polymeric concrete composition is useful for paving a footpath, a roadway, a bikeway, a railway crossing, a parking lot, a stadium, a racing track, a landing strip, etc., and as a material for civil engineering and constructions such as blocks, tile sound-absorbing plates, soundproofing plates, soundproofing walls and retaining walls.

  • Patent number: 6098657
Abstract: An-line trap assembly is disclosed for preventing the drop out of suspended particulant matter within a cooling water flow stream. The in-line trap assembly is provided with a collector tank for gathering debris and a bleed through piping network for creating a continuous flow of cooling water. The continuous flow of cooling water from a supply header to a return header assists in moving the debris into the collector tank where the collected sediments are then removed by a manual or automated blow-down of the in-line trap.

  • Patent number: 6090181
Abstract: A method of operating a blast furnace enables substantial improvement of gas permeability and liquid permeability for stable operation of the blast furnace, involves packing the core section with solid high strength, carbonaceous blocks prior to ignition of the furnace. The carbon blocks resist wearing and high temperature reaction over very long periods of operating time, greatly stabilizing the furnace. Because of the improved stabilization, gas permeability and liquid permeability, a low grade solid reducing agent can be substituted for a quantity of the high quality coke normally used for operating the blast furnace and furthermore enables injection of pulverized coal at a rate of at least 200 Kg/ton-pig.

  • Patent number: 6085439
Abstract: An apparatus for airing grains stored in bulk on a floor of a depot, including a tunnel comprising a duct made of half cylindrical shaped corrugated sheets. The corrugations are approximately sine-wave shaped and provide adequate reinforcement for supporting the weight of grain stored on top. Aprons anchor the duct to the floor, and the duct is connected to a blower which supplies air to the duct. The duct has an inner surface, an outer surface, and two longitudinal edges, with each of the longitudinal edges extending substantially parallel to one another and bear on the respective aprons anchored to the floor. The duct is provided with air outlet openings for injecting air into the grain, wherein the openings are located adjacent or near the longitudinal edges of the duct. Each apron comprises a substantially horizontal wing for anchoring the apron to the floor, thereby forming an air channel between the floor and the inner surface of the duct.
