  • Patent number: 5898010
Abstract: A red brick comprising waste foundry sand of 30.about.50 wt %, dusts of 5.about.10 wt %, and a remainder of clay. The waste foundry sand and dusts can be efficiently recycled, and the quantity of the sand used, the supply of which sand which is nearly exhausted, can be reduced. The heating temperature in the red brick manufacturing process is remarkably lowered, and the economical efficiency of the manufacturing process is improved greatly by using iron oxide included in dusts, instead of a chemical compound to obtain desired color.

  • Patent number: 5887680
Abstract: Pallet level loading apparatus with a three-sided opened top enclosure and a bottom in which a cantilever-supported lifting platform is vertically movable. The lifting platform is driven by a hydraulic system housed in the rear wall of the enclosure. The platform may be locked in position at a predetermined height within the three-sided enclosure to permit its movement from place to place by a hand pallet or forklift. The apparatus further includes a torsion shaft. The torsion shaft arrangement distributes eccentric loads on the cantilever supported lifting platform so that the platform will not experience lateral tilt. Two vertical guide masts are arranged for receiving a roller arrangement of the lifting platform in order to prevent front and back platform tilt.

  • Patent number: 5885532
Abstract: There is provided a burette apparatus having a delivery tube connecting a fluid bag to a burette assembly, via a fluid entry spigot formed in an end cap assembly of the burette assembly, the end cap assembly having a bypass spigot connected to the delivery tube and usually closed by clip, to allow an override for adding liquid to the burette. The end cap assembly closes the upper end of the transparent, cylindrical burette body, into which extends a stainless steel tube extension of the fluid entry spigot, the lower end of the burette body being closed by a lower closure assembly having a check valve and a drip chamber. An outlet tube passes from the drip chamber to the patient via regulating clamp. A float assembly is located in the burette body including an extension rod provided with a resilient cup adapted to engage the open end of the stainless steel tube extension.

  • Patent number: 5885694
Abstract: A packing element for mass transfer column or towers and/or heat transfer columns or towers through which a gas and/or a liquid flows, is provided herein. The packing element possesses a plurality of exchange surfaces. The exchange surfaces of the packing element are formed by the surfaces of half-wave-shaped strips or wave-shaped strips. The packing element also possesses at least one first group of strips containing at least one half-wave-shaped strip or wave-shaped strip having a first periodic length, and at least one second group of strips adjoining thereto and containing at least one half-wave-shaped or wave-shaped strip having a second periodic length. Preferably, at least one outer side of the packing element is formed as a boundary element joining at least some of the strips of a group of strips.

  • Patent number: 5882772
Abstract: A novel pourable packing element is provided herein for use, in particular, in mass transfer and/or heat transfer towers through which a gas or a liquid flows. The exchange areas of such packing element are formed by the surfaces of half-wave-shaped or wave-shaped strips. The packing element possesses at least a first group of strips having a first periodic length and at least one adjoining second group of strips having at least one strip with a second periodic length. The first periodic length of a selected first strip in the first group of strips, (such selected first strip adjoining the second group of strips), and the second periodic length of a selected second strip in the second group (such selected second strip adjoining the first group of strips), is matched to each other in such a way that two adjoining strips of the first group of strips and the second group of strips are in contact with one another at at least one point, so that liquid can pass from one strip to the other strip.

  • Patent number: 5882235
Abstract: In a power tilt device, an opening/closing valve is arranged in a free piston, and an operating member is arranged within a piston rod of a piston and piston rod assembly contained within a closed cylinder. The operating member contacts a supply of hydraulic fluid from an opposite piston side space of a free piston to a first chamber above the piston by opening the opening/closing valve when coming into contact with an end wall of the cylinder during an upward tilting phase of the boat motor. Upon contact, the piston rod is extended outside of the cylinder causing a discharge of hydraulic fluid from the first chamber to an external reservoir, during which time the piston side space and the opposite side space of the free piston are fluidly interconnected.
