Abstract: Methods of, and apparatus for, storing and transporting a hazardous fluid, such as a combustible fuel, include methods and means, respectively, for: (a) treating the fluid to reduce its hazardous condition; (b) storing and/or transporting the treated fluid in such a manner that the risk of its hazardous condition remains reduced; (c) thereafter retreating the fluid to restore it to its original hazardous condition so that the fluid may be used in its restored condition. The hazardous fluid may be treated by adding a substance to, or removing a substance from, the fluid, or by changing the state of the fluid. For example, if the fluid is a fuel, it may be treated by cooling it to near or below its freezing temperature to reduce its combustibility, volatility, explosivity and/or ease of ignition.
Abstract: The present invention relates to 2-indolinone derivatives which are capable of inhibiting protein kinases and histone deacetylases. The compounds of this invention are therefore useful in treating diseases associated with abnormal protein kinase activities or abnormal histone deacetylase activities. Pharmaceutical compositions comprising these compounds, methods of treating diseases utilizing pharmaceutical compositions comprising these compounds, and methods of preparing these compounds are also disclosed.

Abstract: A device and a method for enabling access to data from a channel are provided. The device comprises a storage medium for storing the data from the channel as it is received at a network element and a controller. The controller enables commencing storage of at least a portion of multicast data from the channel not already stored on a storage medium as the data is received at a network element, after detecting a request to receive data from the channel. In the event of receiving a subsequent request associated with a user device to receive data from the channel, the data is transmitted from the storage medium to the user device. A controller for controlling storage of the data comprises a memory and a processor.
Abstract: The present invention is directed to provide a computing system comprises plurality of apparatii mounted on the wall or floor adjacent to or embedded inside the LAN jack or a main power outlet. The apparatii are connected at the back side through Ethernet cable, optical fiber or main lines to the building LAN and connected at the front side through cables or wirelessly to display, keyboard, mouse or other peripheral devices. In a typical embodiment of the present invention power to the computing apparatus is supplied through the LAN cable. Another embodiment of the present invention utilizes a wall or floor mounted housing part comprising of an integrated LAN connector. This common housing enables easy installation of the said computing apparatus module and plurality of other compatible devices that may be plugged into that same housing.
Abstract: Apparatus and methods of recovering synchronization for multiple-link communications are disclosed. Streams of communication traffic on a plurality of communication links from which communication traffic is to be extracted and combined into a single communication traffic stream are monitored for receipt of synchronization information for each link. In the event that an error occurs in receipt of the synchronization information for any of the communication links, a stream received on each affected link is modified. For example, traffic may be removed from or inserted into a received stream where synchronization information for a link is received twice or received earlier than expected, respectively. If synchronization information for a link is missing, then it may be generated and inserted into the stream received on that link.
Abstract: A continuous variable transmission is provided that is based on gearwheels. The novel gear acts as efficient transmission that can replace conventional manually or automatics gears. The CVT comprises sun gear connected to input shaft and ring gear fixedly connected to output shaft. Planet gear is arranged between and engaged with the sun gear and the ring gear wherein a planet carrier that is vertically enclosing the ring gear and the sun gear is provided with a canal in which an oil pump is provided. A control valve is capable of controlling the flow of lubricant within the canal.
Abstract: An automated infant massager has a base for supporting the infant and a plurality of first movable massage elements structured to underlie a portion of the infant. At least one motor is employed for effecting reciprocating movement of the first movable massage element. A plurality of second movable massage elements is provided for massaging the arms and legs of the infant. A plurality of third movable elements is provided within a head support for massaging portions of the infant's head, and a plurality of fourth movable massage elements are provided for massaging the infant's shoulders. The infant massager may, in one embodiment, be structured to receive and massage a premature infant, and in another embodiment, may be structured to receive and massage a full-term infant.
Abstract: A tubular vascular transplant (1, 1?, 1?, 1??) serves for connecting vessels in the human body. The transplant, in particular made of expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE), can preferably be used for an arteriovenous shunt for carrying out a dialysis. The transplant is connected by its first, proximal end to a vessel, for example an artery (2), and by its distal end to another location of the same vessel or to a different vessel, for example a vein (3). The lumen of the transplant (1, 1?, 1?, and 1??) widens in a steadily conical manner in the region of its distal end and forms a diffuser (8) there. The cone angle (a) of the wall of the diffuser (8) with respect to the central flow direction of the blood in the transplant (1?, 1?, 1??) is preferably 6° to 7°. In the region of the diffuser (8), preferably at least one, preferably planar, dividing wall (11, 11?, 11a, and 11b) is provided, running in the central flow direction of the blood.
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to a reinforcement composition and a method of reinforcing an asphalt cement concrete composition. The reinforcement composition includes a core and an outer container. The core includes a plurality of fibers, and the outer container includes a polyolefin selected from the group consisting of polyethylene, polypropylene, and mixtures thereof.
Abstract: A calibration standard structured to obtain both morphology and chemistry information with respect to particles analyzed simultaneously. The standard is structured to verify the accuracy of the data obtained in the particle analysis. Related methods of manufacture and use are provided.
Abstract: An apparatus for the repair of a cardiovascular valve has leaflets comprising a grasper capable of grabbing and co-apting the leaflets of the valve. In a preferred embodiment, the grasper has jaws that grasp and immobilize the leaflets, and then a fastener is inserted to co-apt the leaflets. The apparatus is particularly useful for repairing mitral valves to cure mitral regurgitation.

Abstract: A method for jointing a rubbery-core-inserted braid is provided. In the method, a mold made of a pair of templates is prepared, wherein the templates may be closed in such a manner that trenches can constitute a through hole into which the braid is fittable. The method includes a step of fitting an end of the braid into the trench in one of the templates, while fitting the other end of the braid into the trench, thereby approaching both the ends of the braids each other, a step of interposing a thermoplastic resin between both the ends, and a step of heating and melting the thermoplastic resin in a state where the mold is closed, causing the melted resin to penetrate into the ends of the braids, and solidifying the melted resin, thereby jointing the ends of the braids to each other.
Abstract: A forced air open-ventilation systems for cooling electrical machines is provided. The forced air open-ventilation system includes an air cleaner having an air chamber with a first end, where air is drawn in from the surroundings, and a second end, opposite the first end, where air is drawn out of the air chamber, via a first outlet. A rotating means is contained within the air chamber and may be driven to rotate about an axis that extends between the first end and the second end of the chamber. The rotating means applies a centrifugal force to any airborne particles entering the air chamber and throws them radially outwards from the central axis. These particles are then drawn out of the air chamber, via at least one second outlet formed adjacent to a radially outer edge of the rotating means, by a high-velocity outlet stream of the open-ventilation system.
Abstract: Systems and methods of associating security vulnerabilities and assets, and related Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) and data structures, are disclosed. A definition of a security vulnerability, which includes multiple asset characteristics such as an asset platform that may be exploited via the security vulnerability and an asset platform that is affected when the exploited asset platform is exploited via the security vulnerability, is compared with definitions of one or more assets of an information system. An association between the security vulnerability and an asset is made if the definition of the asset includes a first asset characteristic of the security vulnerability definition and either the definition of the asset or the definition of another asset that has a relationship with the asset includes a second asset characteristic of the security vulnerability definition. The security vulnerability definition may also identify an asset platform that protects against the vulnerability.
