  • Patent number: 5510125
Abstract: To remove selectively particularly sugar from nonalcoholic or alcoholic beverages, first the sugar is either carried away in the permeate in a membrane separation unit (2) by suitable choice of membrane (4) or is retained in the retentate. Afterward, the sugar is removed from the permeate or from the retentate with the help of a device (5) for substance removal or substance conversion. Next the substances remaining in the permeate or in the retentate after the removal of the sugar are fed back into the process or the final product. With the process according to the invention, a high selectivity and an improvement in quality of the final product with high economic efficiency of the unit is achieved (FIG. 1).

  • Patent number: 5498285
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the synthesis of a layered, clay-like material starting from a silicon oxide containing material in a finely divided state by reacting a glass phase containing material at a pH from 5 to 8, in the presence of water, with a source of layer-forming metal ions and an activator for the formation of clay under atmospheric conditions to obtain a material with a stable structure. Preferably aluminium and/or magnesium ions are employed as layer-forming metal ions. Furthermore, according to a suitable embodiment, boron glass or cullet is employed as a material containing silicon oxide. The conversion of the mixture of materials into a substance having an ordered structure takes place preferably at a pH of approximately 7 and a temperature of 30.degree.-45.degree. C., in which the starting materials appropriately have a particle size of approximately 100 microns. An activator for the formation of clay is added to accelerate the process of conversion.

  • Patent number: 5496577
Abstract: A process for the production of a low-sugar, alcohol-free beverage comprises a desugarization process, which is upstream to a preliminary separation. Through the preliminary separation, the raw juice is divided into two streams (A,B), of which the first stream, relative to the raw juice, has a lower acid/sugar ratio and a higher sugar content and the second stream has an elevated acid/sugar ratio and a lower sugar content. The first stream is directly fed to the desugarization process, while the second stream is fed to the low-sugar juice after the desugarization process. The second stream contains a high portion of acid and other, low-molecular components and thus when mixed with the first stream, increases the total content and the quality of the end product.

  • Patent number: 5454205
Abstract: Method for constructing a filling station, having a number of storage tanks, one or more pump islands with a number of pumps on each pump island, and also lines, such as the lines for the supply of the necessary oil and petrol from the storage tanks to the pumps, and for the discharge of rainwater and/or spilt product, and a floor surrounding the pump island. First of all a ground slab is made in one piece by monolithic construction, at the same time a number of facilities being provided in the slab, such as fixing means at the position of the so-called islands where the pumps are placed. In the ground slab near the top side a recess or trench and in the trench lines are then placed, and the structures such as pump islands, pumps and possibly a canopy are fixed to said slab.

  • Patent number: 5433903
Abstract: A brick press for the production of formed bodies from free-flowing materials has a measuring and comparison device, in which pressing force and press path are detected from the beginning of the pressing process and are compared with a preset pressure curve, which represents the pressure/path setpoint value of the pressing process. Any deviations from the force/path setpoint value determined outside a range of tolerance of pressure curve are used as a signal for early ending of the pressing process. Reject formed bodies resulting in this case can be crushed effortlessly and again recycled in the initial material to be pressed without subsequent treatment. A process is also disclosed for the control and regulation of the pressing process.

  • Patent number: 5401409
Abstract: At both ends of a filter cover (6), respectively in the fastening area of the filter cover on draining element (1), bondings or settings (12, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 10, 21) of stitches (10) are applied, which are interrupted in one or more of first rows of stitches (11) and are offset in one or more rows of stitches at the end of the fastening area in the peripheral direction. In a modification, setting (22) of stitches (10) at the end of the fastening area is placed uninterrupted in the peripheral direction. These settings partially or completely allow runs in the fastening area of a filter cover (6), so that, on the one hand, an enlargement of filter cover (6) is made possible for the assembly, and, on the other hand, the formation of runs outside the fastening area is prevented.

  • Patent number: 5388507
Abstract: An automatic process in which after the press is filled and before starting a normal pressing cycle the flow rate of liquids is measured continuously without applying any pressing pressure. The tank is then rotated and the minimum and maximum values of the flow rates are determined and then compared respectively with predetermined values. Based upon this comparison and as a function of the results of the comparisons there is performed a preliminary pressurized draining of the materials to be pressed while at the same time the orifices for evacuation of the liquids are checked for possible clogging. These operations are repeated until the results of the comparisons no longer warrant a pressurized preliminary draining and subsequently initiating the normal pressing cycle.

  • Patent number: 5361691
Abstract: The rod-shaped flexible core (6) of a drainage element (2) mounted in a pressing space (1) of a fruit press has several longitudinal grooves (8, 13) on its periphery, through which the extracted juice is conveyed to juice collecting spaces (5). The free ends of each drainage element (2) are detachably fastened by drainage locks (3) to juice collecting plates (4) bordering the pressing space (1). In the area of rigid drainage lock (3), through which the juice is guided, the longitudinal grooves (8) are widened, so that in this area, in which the flexibility of core (6) to assist the flow process is absent, the risk of clogging by solid sediment particles in the juice is prevented.
