  • Patent number: 6168556
Abstract: A weight training wrist strap apparatus for use by one with limited or essentially no handgrip strength is provided, the invention comprising a first strap for wrapping around a human wrist which includes a depending strap portion having an attachment clip for connection to weight training equipment. If desired, a second strap is provided for wrapping around the first strap for added stabilization of the first strap when using increased weight resistance. In this manner, all of the weight training force is transferred to the wrist of the user with the result that no gripping of the equipment by the hand of the user is necessary. The second strap may include a thumb loop for anchoring the strap for ease of wrapping the second strap to complete the apparatus-wrapping maneuver. Implementation and use of the apparatus provides for a complete upper body workout wherein increasingly heavier weight resistance without the requirement of gripping strength.

  • Patent number: 6146196
Abstract: A mated coaxial contact system including a nano-miniature pin and socket contact centered in a shielding sleeve by a dielectric insulator. The pin and socket contacts are each mechanically crimped to the respective center conductor of the coaxial wire. The conductive braid of the coaxial wire is soldered to the shielding sleeve with a disc insulator overlaying the terminal end of the insulation encircling the center conductor, thus facilitating solder of the braid to the sleeve and preventing electrical shorts between the center conductor and the braid of the coaxial wire.

  • Patent number: 6146399
Abstract: Hand manipulable tissue cutting apparatus formed in a scissors like configuration and having first and second clamp members pivotably coupled with first and second jaws in opposing facing interoperative relation. On at least one clamp member surface a plane is defined at the area of the jaws, the plane being generally perpendicular to the opposing abutting faces of the jaws. A sheath is provided of a first sheath portion attached, or formed integrally with a first clamp member, and a second sheath portion attached or formed integrally with the second clamp member. In the closed clamp position, the first and second sheath portions form generally parallel guide recesses. A blade member is provided with a width and thickness sufficient for sliding within the guide recesses so-formed. In the open position of the clamp, the first sheath portion integral with the first clamp member is configured for retaining the blade in its retracted position.

  • Patent number: 6086225
Abstract: A lamp assembly for mounting to a substrate having a housing formed, such as by molding, of a translucent silicone rubber with a cavity formed therein for receiving a miniature incandescent lamp with the leads thereof bent into the mounting plane to enable the lead to be utilized for mechanical and electrical bonding to the substrate. In one embodiment the housing has an enlarged base with a peripheral generally planar lip providing a pick-up surface for vacuum type tools. The base may be generally circular in cross-section with opposing sides of the peripheral flattened to provide indexing surfaces for mechanical orientation and handling devices. The enlarged base may be oval-shaped in cross-section and provided with spacing means adjacent the cavity, or may be rectangular in cross-section with V-shaped cut-outs on opposite edges for enabling protrusion of the leads into the slots so formed, thus providing protection for the leads during handling.

  • Patent number: 6050581
Abstract: A bicycle trailer hitch assembly including first and second hitch members configured as mirror images of one another, the hitch members being adapted and arranged for attachment to opposites sides of the bicycle frame adjacent the rear wheel. Each member includes a body portion having a first projection configured for abutting relation with the chain stay of the bicycle and a second arcuately configured projection for tangentially abutting relation with the seat stay, each of the projections having a fastener arrangement coacting with the body portion and the adjacent stay of the bicycle frame for enabling securing the hitch member to the frame. Both projections extend from the same side of the body portion with the opposite side of the body portion including a slotted socket opening for receiving the ball end of a trailer tongue fastener. The tongue fastener is retained in position by means of a pin passing through the opposing walls of the slot.

  • Patent number: 5896955
Abstract: A brake shoe having a metallic support or backbone member with a brake pad formed of at least two portions, each of a separate compound or composition, with each compound pre-selected to effect a separate result for each of the pad portions. The portions are configured, arranged and dimensioned so that each (and all) pad portions have a braking surface in contact with the rim generally simultaneously. The partitioned brake pad is formed of different combinations of multi-rubber or elastomers, not a particular combination, to improve wet and dry braking with one pad or the same pad. The selection of multi-rubber or elastomers could be used to stop squealing and grabbing, while also giving the pad stopping power at the same time; or a different combination could be used in wet and dry conditions, or a combination of compounds may be utilized for different partitions for racing conditions, or the like.
