Abstract: A system and tool for performing a capsulotomy procedure. The system includes an air pressure unit, a capsulotomy and movement control unit providing electrical current and movement control, and a capsulotomy tool, and an extendable-retractable burning element coupled to the tool. A capsulotomy and movement control unit provides electrical current to the burning element and movement control for extending and retracting the burning element. When the burning element is in a flattened, retracted configuration, the tip of the tool can be inserted through a relatively small corneal incision. Then, the burning element is opened to a circular, extended configuration, allowing a capsulotomy by applying an electrical pulse to the burning element. Optionally, predefined points of weakness allow removal of the tool should breakage occur during surgery.

Abstract: An innovative portable dialer device and method for automatically initiating a telephone call of a pre-programmed telephone number stored as data representing tones, when the portable dialer device is brought near a telephone handset or a cellular telephone. The proposed portable dialer device enables a manual or automatic activation of the sequence of tones required for initiating the telephone call. In accordance with the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the portable dialer device is a refrigerator magnet dialer.
Abstract: In one aspect, the present invention is directed to an apparatus for dynamically fitting an insole to a patient, the apparatus comprising: a first fitting panel, comprising: a virtual model of desired strains on the plantar surface of a foot; a plurality of fitting units deployed on the first panel, each fitting unit comprising: (a) a strain sensor, for measuring the strain of the foot on the fitting unit; and (b) an elevating unit, for elevating the top point of the fitting unit to a desired point; a processing unit, for instructing the elevating unit to adjust the elevation of the top point of the fitting unit towards a position wherein the strain of the foot, as measured by the strain sensor, corresponds to the strain of the virtual model.
Abstract: A system and tool for performing a capsulotomy procedure. The system includes an air pressure unit providing pressurized airflow, a capsulotomy and movement control unit providing electrical current and movement control, and a capsulotomy tool including a main housing, and an extendable-retractable burning element coupled to the main housing. The tool is in connection with the capsulotomy and movement control unit for providing electrical current to the burning element and movement control for extending and retracting the burning element. When the burning element is in a flattened, retracted configuration, the tip of the tool can be inserted through a relatively small corneal incision. Once in the anterior chamber, the burning element is switched to a circular, extended configuration, so as to allow performance of a capsulotomy by applying an electrical pulse to the burning element.
Abstract: In one embodiment, the present invention is directed to an adjustable stroller, comprising: a central axle, which is an axle attached to the chassis of the adjustable stroller such that the axis of the central axle is disposed substantially vertically; a pedestal, attached in the center thereof to the central axle such that the edges thereof are substantially at the same elevation; two side axles, each being an axle attached to an opposite side of the pedestal such that the axis thereof is disposed vertically; and two baby seats, each attached to one of the side axles; thereby allowing arranging the seats in a manner selected from a group comprising: side by side, and in tandem mode. Preferably, each of the axles further comprises a securing mechanism, for securing the outer cylinder of the axle in a desired manner with regard to the inner cylinder thereof.
Abstract: A brewing element comprising an envelope for storing at least one comestible brewing ingredient therein; and an attachment means for removably attaching the element to a container, the element having formed therein a central inlet for admitting pressurized, heated water and a peripheral outlet for releasing a mixture of the at least one comestible brewing ingredient with the pressurized, heated water, wherein when the brewing element is incorporated into an operating beverage brewing system, the capsule releases the mixture multi-directionally through the peripheral outlet to provide a brewed beverage into the container.
Abstract: An improved wheeled luggage case having a pair of freely rotating large wheels that have a diameter substantially greater than the height of the center of gravity of the wheeled luggage case itself (when in an upright, at rest position). The weight of the wheeled luggage case is largely transferred to the large wheel pair when being towed, reducing the load burden on a user and making it easier to pull the wheeled luggage case over long distances, for example, between airport terminals.
Abstract: A portable beverage preparation device comprising a drink container containing a predetermined volume of a potable base liquid, at least one beverage preparation of a predetermined quantity; at least one sealed compartment for confining the beverage preparation, and a dispenser means for dispersing the at least one beverage preparation into the base liquid within the drink container; wherein the drink container and the at least one sealed compartment are in close physical proximity to each other and separated by at least one thin membrane which, when inwardly perforated by the dispenser means, disperses the at least one beverage preparation into the base liquid to make a beverage ready to drink.
Abstract: A shared memory system for a multicore computer system utilizing an interconnection network that furnishes tens of processing cores or more with the ability to refer concurrently to random addresses in a shared memory space with efficiency comparable to the typical efficiency achieved when referring to private memories. The network is essentially a lean and light-weight combinational circuit, although it may also contain non-deep pipelining. The network is generally composed of a sub-network for writing and a separate multicasting sub-network for reading, whose topologies are based on multiple logarithmic multistage networks, e.g. Baseline Networks, connected in parallel. The shared memory system computes paths between processing cores and memory banks anew at every clock cycle, without rearrangement.
Abstract: A CMOS integrated circuit for multi-channel neuronal recording with twelve true-differential channels, band separation and digital offset calibration. The recorded signal is separated into 2 bands: a low-frequency, local field potential (LFP); and high-frequency spike data. Digitally programmable gains for the LFP and spike bands are provided. A mixed-signal front-end processor for multi-channel neuronal recording is also described. It receives twelve differential-input channels of implanted recording electrodes. A programmable cutoff HPF blocks DC and low frequency input drift at about 1 Hz. The signals are band-split at about 200 Hz to low-frequency local field potential (LFP) and high-frequency spike data (SPK), which is band limited by a programmable-cutoff LPF. The analog signals are converted into digital form, and streamed out over a serial digital bus at up to 8 Mbps.

Abstract: An automated method for operating a bimodal itinerary creation and management system. The method includes specifying by a user of his travel preferences and telling the system to plan and calculate an itinerary, calculating by the system of an itinerary meeting said user's travel preferences and presenting said itinerary to said user. The method also includes either accepting this as the final itinerary by the user or further specifying and fine tuning his preferences and finally recalculating the itinerary, until a sufficiently satisfactory itinerary is created.
Abstract: An innovative system and method for achieving high precision clock recovery, i.e. reconstruction of the clock signal having the same frequency, over a packet switched network. The proposed method utilizes a minimum network delay approach, which overcomes the problems caused by delay variation of the network and filters out network jitter, such as noise jitter and other “singular” anomalies causing latency deviations. Minimum network delay is defined herein as the time delay in which a packet remains in the network under assumption that all transmission queues through which the packet passes are empty.
