  • Patent number: 8332933
Abstract: When a user operates a processing apparatus through a touch panel, a fingerprint processing unit reads fingerprint information of the user's finger. Each time when the fingerprint processing unit reads fingerprint information, a CPU judges whether the read fingerprint information is identical to a fingerprint information of authenticated user. If being identical, the processing apparatus executes a process in accordance with an operation accepted through the touch panel. These two fingerprint information are identical each other if the operating user through the operation accepting panel is the authenticated user. It means that the processing apparatus judges whether the operating user is the authenticated user, each time when the user operates. If the user is the authenticated user, the process in accordance with the operation by this user is then executed.

  • Patent number: 8327773
Abstract: A slide structure 21 of a railway vehicle includes a slide end beam 22 disposed in front of an end beam 16 that constitutes a portion of a body, and a slide center beam 23 projecting rearward of the slide end beam. An underframe 12 is provided with a guide portion 24 that guides the slide center beam in the longitudinal direction of the body. The underframe 12 is also provided with a holding member 28 that holds the slide center beam at a front position of the body with respect to the guide portion. The holding member has such a tensile strength that the holding member couples the underframe and the slide structure to each other in the longitudinal direction of the body and the holding member is broken when a tensile load in a rearward direction of the body applied from the slide structure to the holding member exceeds a preset tensile load, thereby permitting the slide structure to move in the rearward direction of the body.

  • Patent number: 8329131
Abstract: The invention provides new methods for synthesis of large boron hydride clusters, e.g., boron hydride molecules of the formula BnHm where 5?n?96 and m?n+8, wherein m and n satisfy the electron counting rules of macropolyhedral boranes. The invention is particularly useful for synthesis of octadecaborane (B18H22). Preferred methods of the invention include iteratively generating a conjugate acid from a salt of the [BaHb]c? or [Bn+2Hm?4]2? anion followed by degradation under conditions conducive to concentrating and drying of the conjugate acid to provide a borane BnHm and residual salt of the [BaHb]c? or [Bn+2Hm?4]2? anion which is reused in the method of synthesis. The invention further provides isotopically enriched boranes, particularly isotopically enriched 10B18H22 and 11B18H22.

  • Patent number: 8327886
Abstract: A conduit repair structure in which solid objects are less likely to accumulate on a conduit bottom and that, even if solid objects accumulate on the conduit bottom, facilitates removal of the solid objects. A hollow frame-like reinforcement body laid substantially along a cross-sectional shape of a conduit (1) is constructed using a reinforcing member (2) having fixing parts (2p) arranged at predetermined intervals on the inner side of the conduit (2). Resin inner face bars (10) are attached to the inner side of the reinforcement body, and a curable filling material is placed in the space formed by the inner face bars (10) and a conduit inner wall (1a) to form a filling material layer (3). A body section (10c) of each inner face bar (10) is formed recessed in its width direction. The recessed shape of the body sections (10c) forms riblets on the bottom of the conduit, and this reduces resistance to water flowing in the conduit.

  • Patent number: 8330814
Abstract: An individual detector comprises a range image sensor and an object detection stage. The range image sensor is disposed to face a detection area and generates a range image. When one or more physical objects exist in said area, each image element of the range image includes each distance value up to the one or more physical objects, respectively. Based on the range image generated with the sensor, the object detection stage separately detects the one or more physical objects in the area. Accordingly, it is possible to separately detect one or more physical objects in the detection area without increasing the number of constituent elements for detecting the one or more physical objects.

  • Patent number: 8332242
Abstract: A system, method, and computer-usable medium are disclosed for providing routing-based insurance. A telematics device exchanges information related to a user's traversal of a route with a routing-based insurance system. The telematics device determines the current location and destination of the user, which it provides to the routing-based insurance system, for processing to determine available route segments between the two locations. A set of risk score data is generated for each of the available route segments, which in turn is used to generate a set of risk score differential data. Route advisement data, comprising routing instructions and the set of risk score differential data for the route segment, is generated and provided to the telematics device. A route segment is selected by the user and then traversed. The set of risk score differential data associated with the traversed route segment is determined and associated with the user's insurance policy.

  • Patent number: 8323732
Abstract: The present invention provides nanocomposite materials comprising carbon nanotubes and oligo(p-phenylenevinylene) (OPV). Dispersion of CNT in the solution of solution of oligo(p-phenylenevinylene) (OPV) in organic solvent results in the formation of nanocomposite material. The ?-? interaction between CNT and OPV molecule were shown by spectroscopic and microscopic techniques. The nanocomposite solution can be drop casted over glass or metallic surface for the preparation of superhydrophobic coating. The resultant composite surface shows superhydrophobic nature even with corrosive liquids and its contact angle is almost constant even after prolonged contact with water.
