Abstract: A method of removing iron from waste slag from a steel producing furnace that reduces the size of the waste slag to slag particles in a reduction zone. The slag particles are advanced along a conveyor in a first direction. A first and second magnet are positioned adjacent the conveyor to remove slag particles that have a sufficient iron content to be attached by the first and second magnets. A first removal belt is advanced between the first magnet and the conveyor to remove slag particles removed from the conveyor by the first magnet. A second removal belt is advanced between the second magnet and the conveyor to remove slag particles removed from the conveyor by the second magnet. A first and second separation screens are positioned along the conveyor to remove particles not removed by the first or second magnets that are small enough to pass through the first and second separation screens.
Abstract: Apparatus for gripping and handling a length of pipe includes first and second pipe gripping members supported on a frame. The first pipe gripping member is movable along a straight line path from an open position to a closed position closer to the second pipe gripping member. The first pipe gripping member is supported on a movable transfer plate having an engagement member connected thereto and to a piston rod of a hydraulic cylinder.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining the presence of heavy hydrocarbons (including those from unprocessed crude oil) in distillate streams and/or reformer feed includes taking at least one sample, spectrally analyzing the at least one sample for at least one heavy hydrocarbon component, determining the concentration of the analyzed hydrocarbon component using the spectrally determined concentration in an appropriate mathematical model, and determining the total heavy hydrocarbon concentration from the determined values for each sample.
Abstract: A clutch device for tool holders or tool chucking or workpiece chucking devices is used for the releasable form-fitting engagement of a drive shaft, comprising a spindle of the tool holder or chucking devices, said spindle being coaxial with the drive shaft. The drive shaft and the spindle have separate dog elements, whereby, between the two dog elements, a clutch element is arranged that compensates for alignment errors between the drive shaft and the spindle and that can be moved in a limited manner between the drive shaft and the spindle. The clutch element is in form-fitting engagement with the dog elements of the drive shaft and of the spindle.
Abstract: An automatic antenna tuner system for radio frequency identification system includes a pulse width modulator, a microprocessor for controlling the generation of a source signal from the modulator, capacitors for receiving the source signal from amplifiers and transmitting it to an inductor, a gate communicating with the capacitors for transmitting a resonating signal from the inductor and capacitors as a carrier signal and means for gating the carrier signal with the source signal to produce a compared signal to produce a string of pulses and means for varying capacitance to increase or decrease the count of the string of pulses.

Abstract: A label for a container is formed by wrapping a length of label material around a cylindrical mandrel and introducing heat, adhesive or other sealing means into a gap between the leading end portion of the label material and the trailing end portion as the label material is wrapped around the mandrel. The cylindrical sleeve is slid off of the mandrel and telescoped over a container passing thereunder. The container with a cylindrical sleeve therearound is then moved to a heating station which heats the label material, preferably foam polystyrene, to cause it to shrink into conformity with the contour of the container.
Abstract: A power generation device generates power by subjecting a composite of magnetostrictive material and piezo material to a magnetic field. The composite of magnetostrictive material and piezo material may be incorporated in a battery or other storage device.

Abstract: A tool clamping insert has a tool holder for receiving a tool shank. The tool holder hole is nominally smaller than the tool shank to be therein but upon heating of the insert expands to a size permitting insertion of the tool shank and, upon cooling, shrink fitting therein. The insert has an external clamping surface and is positioned in a clamping unit. The clamping surface and the tool holder hole are each configured with diameters, external and internal respectively, that change along the progression of their axial lengths.
Abstract: This invention focuses on the specialized catalyst and/or additive for lower FCCU gasoline and diesel blendstock component sulfur content. This invention utilizes a specified ratio of the transition metal oxides of cobalt and molybdenum to accomplish gasoline and diesel blendstock sulfur reduction. This is accomplished by minimizing sulfur compound formation in the FCCU riser. The cobalt and molybdenum oxides in the presence of H2S from cracked organic sulfur compounds are converted to metal sulfides. A portion of the overall sulfur reduction in the gasoline and diesel blendstock occurs emitted NOx also is reduced.
