  • Patent number: 4470713
Abstract: The needle writing head comprises a support in two parts (5 and 6), each comprising recesses (15, or 18) forming guide paths for needles (16) located along two rows. The part (6) is movable parallel to the row of needles (16) over a distance equal to one-half of the distance between centers of the needles (16) so as to make it possible to place the needles of the second row in alignment or staggered in relation to the needles of the first row. Means (19 to 26) consist of notching means to fix the two relative positions of the parts (5 and 6).The latter (5 and 6) are rubies and the part (5) is in two parts (12and 13) glued at (14).

  • Patent number: 4468153
Abstract: A tidal station includes a plurality of turbine/generator sets removably insertable along the central axis of a caisson to provide a symmetrical installation. Fixedly disposed basin side and sea side diffusers include inlets alternately juxtaposed opposite ends of the turbine/generator sets as the sets are rotatably displaced 180 degrees between ebb and flood tides. Ballasting/deballasting structure contained in the caisson permits self-portability of the caisson to its site and subsequent positioning thereat.

  • Patent number: 4467834
Abstract: The supply conduits (1, 2) for two different gases to be mixted are each associated to a pressure regulator (3, 4) and lead into two chambers (5, 6) connected by chokes (7, 8) having a variable section area to a mixing chamber (9). A control member (13) allows the cross section area of the chokes (7, 8) to be varied without modifying the ratio between those cross section areas. Another control member (14) allows the ratio between those cross section areas to be varied without modifying the sum. This device allows a mixture of gases of any molecular weight in predetermined proportions.

  • Patent number: 4461267
Abstract: A compound bow includes a pair of improved pivotally mounted cam assemblies having separate, specification profiled string cable segments and power cable segments constructed and arranged to produce a draw force curve representing a greater area of stored energy than that obtained with most existing compound bows. The draw length of the bow, among other parameters, is readily altered without compressing and dismantling the bow cable components by removing and replacing differently configured draw length cam modules associated with the power cable segments. Attachment and subsequent turning of each of the timing, string and power cables is easily accomplished by means of cable adjusters carried by each cam assembly.

  • Patent number: 4458833
Abstract: A cask or container for dispensing liquid under pressure is of the type having a top housing with a bung hole therein and an extractor tube extending into the container and in which a top fitting is attached to the housing with means operative thereon to bring a gas introduction passage into communication with one part of the housing and a beverage outlet passage in to communication with the top of the extractor tube. The arrangement of the invention is such that pilferage from the container is reduced, achieved by welding the housing directly to the cask and arranging for the extractor tube to be withdrawn through the top of the housing with a sealing means arranged so that it can be upset and removed. The opening in the top of the housing is arranged to permit passage of the sealing means and extractor tube which is threadably engaged by a lower part of the housing for extraction by means of a special tool.

  • Patent number: 4457514
Abstract: A dart comprises a point portion 1, a barrel portion 2, a shaft 3 and a flight 4. The point portion 1 is detachably secured within the barrel portion 2 by a screw thread 8 provided at one end of the point portion 1 and a corresponding screw thread provided at one end 9 of the barrel portion 2. The shaft 3 is detachably secured to the other end of the barrel at 11 by screw thread 12. This enables the point or the shaft to be selectively connected with either end of the barrel whereby the dart may be made to have two different flight characteristics. In a second embodiment the barrel has different size screw threads at each end, and two points and two shafts are provided. One shaft and one point have a screw to match one end of the barrel and the other shaft and point have screw threads to match the other end of the barrel. The barrel of both embodiments has an asymmetrical longitudinal shape.

  • Patent number: 4456346
Abstract: The spectacle hinge comprises two parts (3) and (4) in order to insure pivoting of the arm (1) on the frame (2). An intermediate part (5) is fixed on the part (3) by means of a screw (6) and includes a portion (11) forming a cam for engagement with an elastic element (12) of the part (4). The part (4) is pivoted on the part (5) by a screw 10' passing through a hole (10). By removing the intermediate part (5) a standard hinge can be pivotally connected to part (3) in order to provide a standard hinge, that is one which does not utilize elastic means.

  • Patent number: 4454823
Abstract: A railcar for transporting coal includes steel sheets metallized with an aluminum coating on the interior surfaces thereof normally engaged by coal lading. A coating thickness of substantially 0.006-0.009 inch significantly extends the service life of the railcar by inhibiting corrosion and abrasion of the steel sheets by the coal. The method includes the steps of cleaning all interior surfaces of the railcar sheets prior to a metallizing operation and followed by application of a seal coat.

  • Patent number: 4453316
Abstract: The object to be measured (2) is placed on carrier (1). Measuring pins (7,8) can be adjusted roughly in terms of height after loosening screws (11). Sliding carriages (5,6) are guided movably by spherical guides in measurement support members (3,4) perpendicularly to the direction of measurement. Measuring pins (7,8) located in support members (3,4) which are provided with handles (13) and which are connected with sliding carriages (5,6) by means of leaf springs (14). If the laterally adjustable support member (4) is moved into the measuring position, the sliding carriages (5,6) with their measuring pins (7,8) can, within the limits of leaf springs (14), be freely centered in the pitch of the thread to be measured (2a) thus providing the ideal prerequisites for correct measurement of the thread diameter.

  • Patent number: 4451188
Abstract: A railway car adapted to convey cylindrical objects such as coils includes a plurality of fixed trough members and sections of shiftable inclined trough assemblies disposed atop a support deck. By selectively laterally displacing the shiftable trough assemblies the car is alternately configured to provide single/triple or double troughs, or a combination thereof, in order to achieve maximum lading capacity in any one car regardless of the diameters of the coils. Positioning elements on each shiftable trough assembly alternately mate with a fixed trough member or separate positioning elements on the support deck to specifically define the various trough modes. A lock assembly is operable to engage a retainer element carried by each shiftable trough assembly when located in either mode.
