  • Patent number: 4130054
Abstract: A portable waste compactor for automatically compressing, from above, waste material deposited in a dolly-supported waste bin has a hydraulically actuated reciprocable ram mechanism including a ram plate operative to compress the waste material within the waste bin. A chute leading to the waste bin extends forewardly thereof and of the ram mechanism, and has a top opening for the feeding of waste material to be compacted. The ram plate is pivotally mounted with respect to a ram cylinder piston and cam means is provided for tilting the forward end of the ram plate upwardly to provide for unimpeded passage of refuse through the chute into the compacting bin when the said ram is at its uppermost position of rest at the end of a cycle of ram operation. Electrical interlocking means controlling operation of the hydraulic system prevents operation of the ram mechanism unless the dolly and its associated refuse bin is in proper position, and unless a cover covering the waste discharge chute is in closed position.

  • Patent number: 4126248
Abstract: A cylindrical, vertically extending container having an interior, spring-ssed pressure head is adapted resiliently to constrain inverted stacks of paper cups upwardly against a plurality of radially-inwardly-extending, downwardly-directed, arcuate leaf springs, the upper ends of which springs are secured against upper end portions of the container in peripherally-spaced relation, and the lower ends of which springs extend through side openings in the container and are attached to an adjusting collar slidably disposed with respect to the outside of the container. A screwdriver adjustment mechanism serves to positionally adjust the adjusting collar with respect to the container to provide for various degrees of inward flexure of the springs for accommodating a wide variety of sizes, selectively, of paper cups to be dispensed.

  • Patent number: 4109404
Abstract: A fishing bobber or float has an inflated, resilient, spherical housing with a diametrically-extending passageway for threading through a fishing line. Fishing line engaging stoppers are provided for adjustably securing the float along the line. An electrically energized signal device within the housing is activated upon compressional distortion of the housing by an incremental pulling stress exerted upon the line and tackled beneath the float while in use by a fish strike or bite. Inertia damping mechanism is provided within the housing to prevent spurious activation of the signal device upon the occurance of water surface disturbance of the floating bobber. A counteracting spring is also provided for adjusting the threshold of actuation of the signal device to a value just above that imposed upon the tackle by the weight of the bait being used, whether dead or alive.

  • Patent number: 4100681
Abstract: An inexpensive spirit level having means for easy attachment to upper surface portions of picture frames or the like. The device comprises a transparent tape having blister-like cavities at regular intervals, a base tape affixed in face-to-face relation against one side of the transparent tape and having a pressure sensitive adhesive on the outside for attachment to a surface portion of a frame, and a liquid partially filling said cavities. Eash blister cavity has a bubble corresponding to the unfilled space which bubbles will move along the curvature of the blister, thereby indicating the relative position of the device with respect to a horizontal plane. Suitable markings on the transparent tape are provided to facilitate reading level position with respect to the horizontal plane.

  • Patent number: 4090769
Abstract: A plug-in electrical receptacle extender for extending an existing receptacle to project through an opening in panelling, or the like cover material, used in renovating existing interior walls is used in association with an ordinary receptacle cover plate, thereby eliminating any need to relocate the existing receptacle. A cover plate extender is provided for use as a spacer under the outer cover plate in instances where the distance between the existing wall and renovating wall surfaces is small as compared with distances encountered when the outer wall covering material is applied over the spacer furring or the like, thereby simplifying installation while at the same time improving appearance.
