Abstract: An endotracheal tube holder has a body which is secured by a pair of non-stretchable, head encircling straps to overlie the patient's mouth and portions of the cheeks. The straps, which are adapted to extend, one above and the other below, the patient's ears, have one-way tightening adjustability by pawl action. The body is integrally molded to incorporate a quick-acting clamp having three integral hinges, one hinge pivotally connecting a pair of jaws of the clamp and the other two hinges supporting the jaws from resilient arms for snap-action between open and closed positions. The clamp is operative to secure or release the endotracheal tube while the straps retain the body in position on the mouth against dislodgment.

Abstract: A reversible fluid pump is driven by a reversible electric motor under the control of a three position toggle switch wired for off, forward and reverse. One port of the pump is connected to a four position valve, one position of which is off. A hose to a drain receptacle or to an oil supply connects to the other port of the pump and hoses from engine crankcases connect to the three active ports of the valve. A two position valve adapts the pump for single engine use. The handle for selectively positioning each of the valves extends perpendicularly to the valve stem and when in off position aligns with the toggle. Safety latches of alternate constructions, with or without thumb screw tightening means, are each pivoted to the handle to engage the toggle and retain both the valve and toggle in off position when the system is not in use.

Abstract: A trolling or casting fishing lure combines a tail-wiggling artificial worm with a plug for imparting non-spin and non-surface-skimming stability to the lure. The plug comprises a hollow tubular body formed with a beveled leading end connected at an apex thereof to the fishing line and to a fish hook at a point on the trailing end of the body located in straight line to the apex extending parallel to the longitudinal axis of the body, the fish hook being baited with the artificial worm having a flat crescent-shaped tail to which the wiggling motion is imparted when pulled through the water.

Abstract: A toothbrush has a bristle bearing head terminating the supporting stem thereof which extends from a handle. The head is disposed with its major axis at right angles to the length of the stem providing lateral extensions having bristles arranged for interproximal and free gingival margin engagement of both the maxillary and mandibular teeth. The supporting stem has a portion adjacent the head offset from a handle connecting end, the latter having a snap-in bearing connection with the handle providing easy separation and assembly and relative rotation of the handle with respect to the stem and head.

Abstract: A surgical cutter for preparing recipient sites for square scalp plugs in hair transplanting has four disposable blades removably attached to the four longitudinal sides of a core having a square cross-section of predetermined dimensions corresponding to the width of each blade and to the area at the surface of the hole to be excised. Each blade projects a predetermined distance beyond the end of the core equivalent to the required depth of cut and has a sharpened inclined cutting end edge extending from a point located at one side edge inwardly to the opposite side edge in guillotine fashion. The side of the blade adjacent the point is also a sharpened cutting edge extending inwardly therefrom.

Abstract: A head encircling tourniquet comprises a frame section for surrounding a work area of the scalp connected to an opposing pneumatic pressure applying section by a pair of headsize adjustable members. The frame section has a scalp contacting, uniform pressure applying, liner and is formed with a relatively large central opening providing access to the work area while the frame section and liner controls hemostasis in the work area by pressure exerted by the pneumatic section. Opposite elongated longitudinal sides of the frame and liner are resiliently movable toward each other to close an incision or wound located in the work area for suturing while the tourniquet remains in operative position on the head.

Abstract: A plurality of the elongated grippers are mounted in spaced apart, axially parallel, relation to project perpendicularly from opposing, substantially semi-circular, jaws of a pair of blades pivoted at a midportion thereof in scissor-fashion. A pair of lever arms are pivotally connected at one end and have handle portions formed at opposite ends thereof, said blades being symmetrically mounted between said lever arms with one end of each of the blades opposite said jaws pivotally attached to one of the lever arms for actuation thereby and for providing a mechanical advantage to close the jaws on application of a manual force applied to the handle portions. This closing brings the grippers of each jaw toward each other providing a compressive force on a breast requiring closed compression rupture when positioned therebetween.

Abstract: A diabolo top comprises bowl-shaped halves of molded plastic, each half having a central hub formed with an axial opening and coacting aligning pin means. A threaded bolt, extending through the axial openings, mounts a nut and retains the hubs in face-to-face abutment as a bottom of a deep annular groove formed by and between convex wall surfaces of the halves. The conventional string, manipulated at opposite ends thereof to spin the top on a horizontal axis, engages the deep annular groove and coacts with the convex wall surfaces for balancing the top thereon preparatory to spinning. The aligning pin means, which include pins terminating in tapered ends, coact with flexible webs engaging the bolt and nut to facilitate flexure of a portion of the hubs away from each other on impact of the peripheral rims of the halves to avoid breakage.

Abstract: A tripling or more in the production rate of precast concrete building units utilizing reusable mold forms is achieved by casting the units vertically on a wheeled base between separable vertical mold forms. The partially cured poured concrete unit is horizontally transported on the wheeled base from between the separated molds to complete the curing independently thereof, the forms being immediately serviceable with another wheeled base for molding another unit.A building is erected on a concrete slab foundation using a plurality of precast concrete units in the form of L-shaped walls positioned as corner structure and spaced intermediate exterior wall elements and as interior partitions and roof supports.

Abstract: A platform for supporting a note pad in horizontal writing position adapted to mount along the rear of a desk telephone, having a pair of platform openings positioned to be engaged by the projecting tops of the rear pair of cradle posts, and having a hinged brace adapted to extend at an acute angle to the platform and engage the top of the telephone skirt, has a resilient tie-down means which extends from the underside of the platform and hooks under the bottom edge of the telephone skirt to prevent accidental dislodgement of the platform. In a modified form the platform is made from a cardboard blank with the brace cut from portions thereof and hinged along a score line. Another form provides tabs for supporting a calender in upstanding position.

Abstract: A pair of decorative sunglasses has temples of chain or cord, each sized to extend, when worn, over and behind the ears and down to the ear lobe and to connect to a pendant suspended therefrom. As a modification, the sunglass frames and pendants are formed of transparent material with separable mating halves which snap apart and together to permit changing a decorative sheet which fits between the halves.

Abstract: A support post of each alveolar retractor, which is adjustably supported in a clamp means terminating each opposite end of a transverse inferior bar of a surgical mouth gag for both axial rotational and sliding movement, has a superior arcuate bar which at its medial end terminates in an upper jaw engaging member and is mounted in the upper end of said post for lateral-medial sliding adjustment to provide increased surgical exposure. Several modifications of the superior arcuate bar provide pivoting of the upper jaw engaging member to insure an optimum fit. Additional modifications of the transverse inferior bar provide mandibular engaging members which coact with the upper jaw engaging members to mount the mouth gag in operative position independently of the tongue retractor, the latter being removably mountable from the front of the transverse inferior bar without disturbing the position of the mouth gag.

Abstract: A sign serving as a deterrent to unauthorized parking is mounted on a post which is resiliently supported by a base in a normal vertical position and is adapted to be deflected into an inclined position by the car bumper when overriding the base in driving head-in into the parking space. The base has a vertical wall which guides the post in returning from the inclined to the normal vertical position preventing rearward deflection and has an open front shaped to permit the forward deflection of the post through a predetermined horizontal angle. An axial helical tension spring for a tubular post or a spring biased pivot for a channel shaped post connects the respective post to the base for the resilient deflectability.A wire slide-guard is mounted along the post spaced from the sign to engage the car bumper and any protruding portions of the undercarriage for smooth passage therealong to facilitate the deflection and prevent the sign from locking thereon when the car backs out of the parking space.

Abstract: A solar energy collector for use primarily in a closed-loop system has a fluid conduit of serpentine configuration which comprises a plurality of relatively thin extruded aluminum tubes, each tube having a flat top and bottom wall and lateral flat lips or flanges extending longitudinally along opposite sides thereof and coplanar with the bottom wall forming therewith a flat base for the tubes, the flanges providing means for joining the tubes by welding in an array in side by side abutment relation. Sections are formed from the flat tubing as connecting headers which are welded at both ends to pairs of adjacent tubes in staggered relation to form the continuous serpentine path for the heat transferring fluid.

Abstract: An arcuate frame is sized to fit concentrically at a spaced distance about the head. Retractors, retaining the mouth and lips in open position for vertical and lateral exposure during mouth and jaw surgery, are adjustably suspended from the frame by an adjustable universal connector. The frame is mounted on an upstanding support from the operating table by connecting means providing adjustability thereof for universal spacial orientation. One or more beaded chains control the position and tension on each of the retractors, other than the tongue retractor, by releasably engaging anchors carried by connectors which are adjustably positioned along the frame. A single thumb screw secures and releases each anchor for simultaneous adjustment along the frame and at right angles toward and away from the frame. Other surgical applications requiring adjustable retractors are anticipated for the device.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for exercising the smooth muscles of the superficial veins of the legs and feet provide for supporting the patient in a reclining supine position with legs held horizontally in a relaxed condition over a water collecting pan. Surface areas of each foot and calf are subjected to predetermined contrasting temperatures in prescribed sequence and time intervals by means of water sprayed from nozzles onto the surface areas. The water temperature is monitored by temperature gauge means and is operator controlled by a mixing valve having a capability of delivering temperatures varying from a maximum of about 45.degree. C to a minimum of about 21.degree. C from conventional building hot and cold water supply sources. Adjustable means supports the nozzles to accommodate the normal range of leg lengths diametric sizes.

Abstract: A vein foot support is made of a two-way stretch elastic material which is shaped to ensure the application of a substantially uniform supportive pressure of predetermined magnitude on the venous system in the tarsal and metatarsal areas including the dorsal venous arch and the medial marginal and lateral marginal veins below the ankle.
