  • Patent number: 3979885
Abstract: The invention concerns a machine for removing covers or caps on container closures such as the bung hole closure of bear casks, which are positioned with the closure in downward direction and, in empty condition, pass successively a rinsing station and a filling station to be provided again finally with the said caps. The member for removing the caps is U-shaped and, on the belt, is pivotally connected to a parallel mechanism so that said member, after passing the downwardly extending container edge, can engage the cap side facing the container bottom, thus lifting it from the closure.

  • Patent number: 3979112
Abstract: Apparatus for stacking pre-cut sheets and interleaving heavier pieces of material to form backs and or covers for groups of sheets wherein said sheets are transported through a path for deposition on a stack. At the same time cards and/or covers are fed into a second path intersecting the first path and means are provided in the second path for periodically advancing the cards or sets of cards and covers so that a card or a card and cover will be fed into the first path between successive groups of sheets and deposited on the stack.

  • Patent number: 3973748
Abstract: A sustaining device for adjustably holding and positioning an article in space which includes a stationary member, a pair of links pivoted thereto and extending therefrom, a floating member pivoted to the outer ends of the links for movement in a vertical plane relative to the first member, a spring connected between said stationary member and said floating member to produce an upward moment to counterbalance the moment produced by the weight of the article and means coordinated with at least one of said members to equalize said moments throughout the range of vertical displacement of said article.

  • Patent number: 3969727
Abstract: Position detecting device for use with omega navigating apparatus which includes a receiver for receiving two omega signals from different stations, a synchronous generator for producing first and second signals synchronized with the omega signals and frequency dividing the synchronized signals by a common divisor to produce first and second frequency-divided waves, frequency dividing means for dividing the phase difference between the frequency-divided waves by the period of the omega signals to produce an integral quotient which constitutes a lane number while the remainder represents the phase difference between the first and second omega signals.

  • Patent number: 3967436
Abstract: It is the object of the present invention to provide a machine for applying covers or caps on container closures such as the bung hole closure of beer casks or the like, there being mounted a feed chute pivotally mounted about a horizontal cross shaft for the caps to be handled, and having a pressure member at its free end with which the caps are pressed in a single operation in their end position on and about the closures. The feed chute is spring-loaded to allow automatic passage of the pressure member over the cask edge which lies above the level of the closure, by vertical strokes over the cask edge.

  • Patent number: 3950650
Abstract: Curing and drying apparatus for printing inks which includes a housing having openings for passing a printed web therethrough and lamp assemblies each including a shell, a reflector and an ultraviolet light lamp or radiator for focusing radiation onto said web. Blowers are coupled to said housing for feeding air about the back side of said reflectors and about the sockets for the lamps to remove excess heat and novel and improved means are provided for protecting said lamps and major portions of the lamp necks from said cooling air to prevent lowering the temperature and therefore the efficiency of the lamps.
