Abstract: A rim seal for use with containers for paint having an upstanding rim at one end and a groove located radially inwardly of the rim defined in part by an inner terminal edge. The rim seal includes an annular top section disposed generally transverely to the axis of a container and providing a planar support surface when assembled to a container. An inner wall section extends downwardly at an angle from the inner peripheral edge of the top section terminating in a radially inwardly directed rib adapted to overlie and seal with the edge of the container. Also, an angular outer section depending from the outer peripheral edge of the top section includes a radial section defining a ledge, and a lower terminal axially extending wall terminating and having an inwardly directed radial circumferentially extending rib. Application of an axial force on the top section produces outward flexing of the inner and outer sections whereby the rim seal can be applied to a container by automatic assembly means.

Abstract: Flexible, crosslinked polymeric compositions providing transparent hydrogels having a refractive index in the dehydrated (dry) state of at least about 1.53 and having equilibrium water content of at least 40% by weight of the polymeric gel for use an expansile intraocular lenses for surgical implantation. The dehydrated polymeric compositions are capable of hydration by natural fluids present in the eye to expand about 180% after implantation and in the fully swollen state have refractive indices of at least 1.40. Abstract: A security and display system for use with a retail item having a threaded bore. The system includes a base for supporting the retail item. The base is fixedly mounted in a display area and has an upwardly extending pedestal. A mounting device is provided, for removably mounting the item on the pedestal to permit inspection of the item. The mounting device has a fastener for preventing its removal from the item. At least one security cable is attached to the retail item and mounting device at one end and is securely mounted at its other end at a point remote from the display area. Potential customers have access to relatively free movement of the retail item without being able to remove the retail item from the display.

Abstract: A lead scanning apparatus for scanning the lead to lead integrity of electronic devices having an axial length and leads extending from the sides thereof. The apparatus includes track means for moving individual devices axially along a path to a scanning station on the path. Stop pins stop each of said devices at predetermined locations on the path where a clamp rail assists in positioning the device in a scanning orientation. The scanning unit is movably positioned at the station for movement axially along the length of the device to generate signals upon intersection of leads extending from both sides of the device. Actual signals from the scanner are compared with predetermined signals to determine the existence and spacing of each lead with respect to a predetermined pattern. A signal based on the comparison for each device is generated.

Abstract: Attachment means for mounting a first annular member such as a bearing ring having a first seating surface to a second member, such as a housing. The bearing ring has a plurality of recesses formed therein and is made of a material having a predetermined hardness. The housing has a second seating surface and a contact surface disposed angularly to the second seating surface and a fillet surface defining at least one narrow intermediate space at the juncture of the said second seating surface and contact surface. The recesses in said first seating surface open toward the internal end surface and open out into the intermediate spaces, whereas, at the end facing away from this end surface, the recesses are closed off by a boundary wall. By this arrangement, during assembly of the bearing ring in the bore of the housing or to a journal, material from the housing or journal is removed to fill the recesses and thereby lock the bearing ring in place.

Abstract: Apparatus for washing bottles, in which a transfer conveyor define an endless loop belt between an inlet end and outlet end. A plurality of cups are carried along the endless loop. An inlet elevator adjacent the inlet end supplies a quantity of bottles in an open end down orientation to the cups. Fluid injectors are movably mounted on the conveyor to position a nozzle into each open end down oriented bottle to supply fluid to inside of the bottles. An outlet elevator is adjacent outlet end for removing bottles from the apparatus in an open end up orientation.

Abstract: A lightweight personal golf ball cleaner, ball marker, and club cleaner in a plastic casing or cylinder about the size of a 12-gauge shot gun shell, the interior of the cylinder having small towel means adapted for wetting before a golf round and means mounting the towel in such a manner that a twist of the cylinder will extend outwardly the towel to expose the towel for cleaning of a ball on a golf course putting green and when not in use, the towel can be twisted back into the cylinder. Abstract: A telephone security device is placed in the telephone line between the primary transmission network and receiver. Incoming telephone calls are automatically answered and monitored for a predetermined time. When a proper code is supplied by the calling party during the monitored time interval, an audio alert is sounded so the called party may pick up the phone and responsd in a normal manner. If the phone is not picked up during the time interval, the call is terminated.

Abstract: Applicator assembly comprising a container for liquids having a bottom wall member, a cap member having means for detachably securing it over a discharge opening in the container. An upstanding wall and a bottom wall having an upstanding post member having an opening communicating with the interior of the container define a measuring chamber for a predetermined measured quantity of the liquid with a cylindrical wall portion of the cap member. An elongated tubular member is mounted in the opening in the post member extending downwardly into the container adjacent the lowest portion of the bottom wall member. A valve seat plate member is mounted at the open end of the cylindrical wall portion and has a wall portion terminating in a valve opening which is tapered towards the valve opening and functions as a funnel during discharge of contents to ensure complete transfer from the measuring chamber to a dispensing chamber above the measuring chamber.

The outer ring includes a seating surface section seated in the through-bore and a radially outward-direction flange section, a cover having a contact surface of a ring-shaped flange for sealing off the roller bearing on the outside, and at least one oil bore in the outer ring between the two outer raceways. The oil bore extends radially from the outside toward the inside to a reservoir for the rolling elements to supply or carry away a lubricant to or from the reservoir. The outer ring also has a lateral surface section of a ring-shaped extension carrying the outside outer raceway. This lateral surface section is adjacent to the outside end surface of the flange section of the outer ring. The inner surface of a centering extension is tightly seated on the ring-shaped extension.
