Abstract: A "U" folded side-welded bag having a multiplicity of folds for packaging within a carton with the open top end of the bag terminating at the outermost fold, formed by introducing an off-center fold transverse to the longitudinal axis of the bag and winding the bag into a roll starting from such off-center fold line. Thereafter, the rolled bag is flattened and folded into a final "U" fold form. A number of such folded bags are stacked in a carton having an access opening with the top end of each bag aligned with the access opening.

Abstract: A brake assembly for maintaining uniform tension in plastic sheet material being unwound from a supply roll supported on a rotatable shaft. The brake assembly includes a pair of rollers which rotatably support the shaft. One roller is vertically displaceable relative to the other for controlling the movement of a linkage connected to a brake shoe in contact with the shaft. The surface area of brake lining in contact with the shaft is reduced in a proportion relative to the depletion of material from the supply roll.
Abstract: An improved seal closure for the open end of a cell comprising a cover including an annular depending flange which has a circumferential notch for engaging the inwardly turned peripheral edge of the cell, an annular recess located in the cover and extending below the level of the notch and a locking collar for insertion within the recess.
Abstract: The disposable package comprises an upper layer composed of a thin film plastic material having a sealed pleated section extending from opposite parallel sides intermediate the ends thereof and an elongated vent disposed within the pleated section. The sealed pleated section is adapted to open exposing the vent at a predetermined temperature below the cooking temperature of the product.
Abstract: The dental material of the present invention comprises a polymerizable binder, a polymerization agent and an additive comprising finely divided particles of muscovite mica in a range of from about 1 to 20 percent by weight of the dental material for direct dental filling and restoration applications and in a range of from about 1 to 30 percent for cosmetically treating the surface of a tooth as a veneer or paint-on.
Abstract: A composite tubular food casing comprising a substantially flattened tubular substrate of cellulosic material and a melt extruded layer of thermoplastic material bonded to the tubular substrate with a beaded seam formed in the thermoplastic material adjacent the flattened edges of the cellulosic layer and separated from each edge a predetermined distance of no greater than 0.003 inches.
Abstract: The extrudable collagen mass of the present invention includes polyoxyethylene sorbitan ester. The additive must be incorporated prior to extrusion of the casing.

Abstract: A fluid matrix is sampled and evaluated for the presence of a metal carbonyl by separating predetermined elemental components from one another, forming an admixture between such elements and a carrier gas, oxidizing the admixture in the presence of an oxygen rich flame, selecting a predetermined range of wavelengths from the emission spectrum generated by the oxidized admixture and detecting the selected range.

Abstract: The air depolarized cell comprises a laminated cathode assembly including an air cathode and an auxiliary cathode in combination with a layer of a thin film nonporous gas permeable membrane which is disposed with one side over the air cathode and with the opposite side having substantially unrestricted access to the atmosphere through a gas diffusion member. The nonporous membrane controls the transfer of oxygen from the ambient atmosphere to the air cathode exclusively by gas solubility with its permeability to oxygen selected to correspond to a predetermined average current density for the cell.
Abstract: The rechargeable cell comprises a cathode formed from a compressed mixture of manganese dioxide particles, electrically conductive particles and a binder; an anode separated from the cathode and containing amalgamated metallic zinc particles on an electrically conductive carrier in an amount sufficient to provide a limited anode discharge capacity of about one-third of the cathode capacity; an aqueous alkaline electrolyte; and a charge reserve mass comprising an oxide or hydroxide of zinc in an amount sufficient to provide a charge reserve capacity for said cell equal to at least 50 percent of the anode discharge capacity.
Abstract: An interrupt control system for accepting and retaining a multiple of interrupt requests to a central processing unit of a microcomputer assigning a priority to each, generating an interrupt instruction, and a CPU interrupt signal including means for storing CPU register data and status flags upon receipt of said interrupt and restoring such data and flags when the interrupt task is complete. The control system also includes means for displaying certain data as controlled by the computer software program and for entering manual data.

Abstract: An improved rechargeable cell having an anode structure which in its uncharged state comprises a coherent metallic porous body with its pores substantially filled with oxidized zinc and alkaline electrolyte. This anode structure is generated in situ, within the cell, by exposing a predetermined admixture of active zinc metal and an oxide of a metal less anodically active than zinc to an aqueous alkaline electrolyte.
Abstract: Primary dry cell comprising a metal anode cup having therein a cathode mix containing an electrolyte, separated from the side wall of the anode cup by an electrolyte-permeable separator, and having an open end which is gas-tightly sealed by a closure including a vent, wherein an electrolyte-impermeable mask is positioned adjacent to the separator and extends substantially the whole distance between the bottom of the anode cup and the void space defined between the cathode mix and the seal closure.
Abstract: A surface coating process which comprises passing a surface to be coated past or through an excited cloud of coating material on an alternating electric field between two electrodes, one of which comprises a rotating drum onto the surface of which is metered a supply of electrically chargeable coating particles.

Abstract: An oscillographic display of at least one input signal which is of arbitrary period or is aperiodic may be generated upon a standard television receiver by storing the input signal in a storage medium containing a multiplicity of storage elements and triggering the storage in synchronism with the input signal. The rate of storage of the input signal is controlled independent of the input signal rate. The stored input signal is thereafter read out at a time rate synchronized to the horizontal synchronization frequency of the television receiver and converted into compatible video signals for display. Adjustment of the rate of storage of the input signal provides a corresponding change in time scale in the displayed input signal. Color labeling and a background color is provided as well as a graticule.
Abstract: The battery assembly incorporates a mechanical tab connection which has a multiplicity of projections for penetrating an electrode to form a mechanical joint and for simultaneously establishing electrical contact with the electrode through such joint.
Abstract: The building block of the present invention includes a plurality of pins which are arranged in two rows of unequal length with each projecting from a common surface in a plane perpendicular to such surface and a recessed channel on a surface opposite to such surface in alignment with the longer row and of a depth at least equal to the difference between the two rows. The recessed channel of one row of blocks serves as a guide for sliding in the adjacent upper row in forming a wall of such blocks.
Abstract: An editing system for processing the contents of a random access memory, used in conjunction with a visual display and an alphanumeric control keyboard. The editing system comprises two basic sequential circuits which permit either the deletion of a character or insertion of a character within the memory. A void created by the deletion of a character will be removed simply by reorganizing the memory following the deletion. Conversely, characters may be inserted within the contents of the memory at any desired memory location without destroying the contents of memory at such location by reorganizing the data following the point of insertion. Further use of the insert and delete sequence logic is employed in a manner which automatically permits more complex operations to occur, as required by the operator, such as removal of multiples of characters or words or to further reorganize the memory contents.
