  • Patent number: 6231129
Abstract: A wheel for a motor vehicle has a rim spider provided with air openings and is connected with a rim well. The wheel comprises at least two shell parts which are constructed as a rim well and a rim spider and assembled and which each have an interior wall and an exterior wall. In the area of the air openings, these are connected with one another and each form hollow spokes between one another which, on respective end sides, lead into concentric annuli of the wheel.

  • Patent number: 6230555
Abstract: A device for measuring the braking moment in a motor vehicle with disk brakes incorporates a measuring hub mounted on a wheel axle and connected with a wheel rim. Viewed in the radial direction, the hub is divided into an inner part close to the axle and an outer part that forms the marginal area of the measuring hub and surrounds the inner part concentrically. These two sections are connected to one another by ribs which extend radially, with sensors mounted thereon for measuring the bending stress acting on the ribs as a result of the introduction of a torque. In order to determine the braking moments acting on the disk brake without superimposition of other moments acting on the vehicle wheel, the brake disk of a braking device of the motor vehicle surrounds the outer part of the hub concentrically, and is fastened only to the outer part.

  • Patent number: 6232873
Abstract: In a failsafe method and apparatus for signalling theft for a motor vehicle, an item of theft-signalling information is produced as a function of the signal state of at least one of a plurality of monitoring signals, which are indicative of vehicle states. According to the invention, the theft-signalling information is produced only if the signal states of a plurality of monitoring signals are present in one of one or more prescribed theft-signalling combinations. Each theft-signalling combination comprises one or more signalling conditions, which succeed one another in a specific time sequence and which signalling conditions themselves comprise one or more theft indicative combinations of jointly interrogated signal states of associated monitoring signals.

  • Patent number: 6230504
Abstract: The invention relates to the control of an automatic clutch in the drive train of a motor vehicle having a gearbox which can be changed arbitrarily by the driver between drive positions and idle (isolation of gearbox input and gearbox output). During idling, the clutch is essentially kept disengaged in order to reduce noise (gearbox rattling), but is temporarily closed at intervals for very short periods of time, in order to reset a temperature drift of an actuator unit which operates the clutch and which assumes a self-adjusting position when the clutch is engaged. The air conditioning system is switched off temporarily when, during idling, the clutch is engaged temporarily in order to eliminate the risk of rattling noise of the gearbox due to the air conditioning system being on.

Abstract: A spark plug for an internal combustion engine or a sensor element for an ignition or combustion process is provided in which at least one of the electrodes consists of two materials. The electrodes are designed such that the distance from a first area of one electrode to the other electrode is less than the distance from the one additional area of one electrode to the other electrode. The two areas consist of different materials, and at least one of the electrodes has a slight radius of curvature in the first area at the point at which the distance from the other electrode is minimal. Regardless of or in connection with this design, the shape of the surface of the electrode can be constant or continuous, at least at the transition between the two areas. One of the electrodes may have a material projection at a point that is opposite a point on the other electrode at which deposits can develop on the other electrode during operation.

  • Patent number: 6230132
Abstract: In a method for real time speech input of a destination address into a navigation system, the speech statements that are entered by a user are recognized by a speech recognition device and classified in accordance with their recognition probability. The speech statement with the greatest recognition probability is identified as the input speech statement, with at least one speech statement being an admissible speech command that activates the operating functions of the navigation system associated with this speech command. (All the admissible speech statements being stored in at least one database.) According to the invention, at least one operating function of the navigation system comprises an input dialogue. Following activation of that operating function, depending on the input dialogue, at least one lexicon is generated in real time from the admissible speech statements stored in at least one database, and the generated lexicon is loaded as vocabulary into the speech recognition device.
