Abstract: A decentralized asynchronous wireless communication system is disclosed for providing the remote location retrieval of voice and data communication and allowing for flexibility of communication paths for local communication or for communication to external networks. The system makes use of external data communications modules that may communicate in a local mode, an extended mode, or a distant mode. The external data communications modules may also provide a communication path to a Public Switch Telephone Network and other communication medium. The entire system is monitored by a network of personal computers comprising an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Network to manage any catastrophic system failure. The entire system is suitable for operation in rural areas having a low population density and urban areas where hours of peak call loading could otherwise be detrimental to call completions.
Abstract: An air/water-tight slide fastener has an end stop. The end stop has a flange portion extending therearoud. At least part of the flange is extensive enough to be integrally fixed to the opening edges of an opening formed in an article. Since the flange portion is firmly clamped by and between the air/water-tight fastener tape and the opening edges of the opening of the article; when the air/water-tight slide fastener is folded on itself; the excessive bending stresses exerted directly on the air/water-tight fastener tape is relaxed or mitigated. The air/water-tight fastener tape is thus prevented from being peeled off at that position.
Abstract: A button indexing device used in a button attaching machine for attaching a button to be indexed in a specific orientation on a fabric of garments or the like, including lower mold provided at a button attaching position of the attaching machine, a driving section for turning the lower mold around a vertical axis, a laser beam source for irradiating a laser beam onto a point of a specified circular track of the button to be held in the lower mold around the vertical axis, an optical sensor for detecting light reflected from or scattered by the button, and a stop section for stopping said lower mold in a rotation position capable of obtaining the right orientation when said optical sensor detects the minimum or maximum amplitude.
Abstract: Separable end stop comprises a retaining member and an insert member both made of synthetic resin, mounted on the lower ends of the fastener stringers, and adapted to come into and out of engagement with each other in the general plane of a slide fastener. The retaining member and the insert member have a first and a second rotary plate integrally provided on their respective lower ends and adapted for mutual rotation relative to each other to thus swing the retaining member and the insert member relative to each other. The first and second plates have a first and a second magnetic element provided thereon, respectively, for magnetically putting the rotation plates into proper positions for the mutual rotation upon each other.
Abstract: New composite materials having a high density of small particles, such as hollow microspheres, in a matrix material are disclosed. The microspheres are densely packed in the matrix material such that adjacent microspheres are positioned in contact with each other or very close together. Fiber flanking may be provided on the opposite sides of a layer of a core of composite material having the small particles and matrix material. Also disclosed are methods of making and using the composite materials.
Abstract: An abrasive substrate is removably provided between a head portion and an abrasive member in a carry type abrasive machine. The abrasive substrate is constituted by a single synthetic resin molded member formed of the same material, and a hardness in a peripheral portion is set to be lower than that in a central portion excluding the peripheral edge portion. A difference in the hardness between the central portion and the peripheral portion is regulated by a concavo-convex surface formed on a surface at the fixing side to the head portion of the carry type abrasive machine. It is desirable that the concavo-convex surface should be constituted by a plurality of rib-shaped projections formed on the same plane. The abrasive substrate of the carry type abrasive machine can be manufactured inexpensively and can carry out a reliable and stable abrasion work.
Abstract: A slider for slide fastener provided with an automatic stopper device which allows automatic assembly and manual assembly and holds a leaf spring in a stabilized condition, the slider having five members, that is, a body, a pull tag, a pawl member, a leaf spring and a cover. Mounting posts for attachment of the cover are provided on front and rear portions on a top face of the body. The top face of each of the mounting posts has a protrusion as a first holding portion for holding the leaf spring in which concave portions are formed in both ends. The cover to be mounted on the mounting posts has protrusions as second holding portions for holding the leaf spring at front and rear ends of the inner face of the top wall. Each of the concave portions in the leaf spring is engaged with the protrusions of the first holding portion and second holding portion with play.
Abstract: A bush is provided at its sliding surface with oil-supply groove portions. An area ratio of the oil-supply groove portions to the sliding surface of the journal shaft is set to 30 to 90%. A length L1 between the oil-supply groove portions in a circumferential direction and an inner diameter D of the bearing satisfy L1<?D/36. Even in a bearing device in which the journal shaft and the bush mutually rotate in a predetermined angle range or in which the journal shaft and the bush relatively and continuously rotate, the present invention can effectively be used while maintaining the existing sizes of the journal shaft and the bush, and it is possible to prevent partial break of oil film or shortage of oil film.
Abstract: The invention provides a knitted surface fastener made of warp knitted fabric, which eliminates necessity of resin coating for fixing a base portion of a pile loop and fusion between yarns, securing flexibility and ventilation proper to knitted fabric wherein, in a base fabric of a surface fastener, wales are formed with at least chain knitting yarns and the respective wales are connected including at least weft in-laid yarns, engaging element loops are formed of first and second engaging element forming yarns striding over two or more wales and the respective engaging element forming yarns are knitted into at least three adjoining courses on a same wale in a zigzag shape, at this time, the first and second engaging element forming yarns are knitted into adjoining same stitches of at least two or more courses of the same wale in the zigzag shape.
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for treating a surface of a layered polymeric structure. The method includes the steps of: (1) providing a first sheet of material, (2) providing a second sheet of material, (3) positioning the first sheet or the second sheet to overlap at least a portion of the other sheet to define an interference zone, (4) directing a first polymeric material into the interference zone to adhere the first sheet to the second sheet to form the layered structure; and (5) texturing a surface of the first sheet or the second sheet to form a pattern on the surface.
Abstract: Locking or expanding pliers (1) having two plier arms (4, 5) which arc joined to each other in the manner of a scissor-type joint. The arms forming grip sections (6, 7) on one end and clamping sections (12, 13) on the other end and being able to be locked in various clamping positions, whereby the clamping results from the elastic deformation of at least one of the two plier arms (4, 5) occurring when the plier arms (4, 5) are placed in a clamping position. A spring element (F) is arranged in the active area between the clamping section and the grip section in order to achieve improved proportioning of the clamping force, whereby both grip sections (6, 7) can be disposed on top of each other and placed in another locking position (19, 20), when both clamping sections (12, 13) are maintained in a distanced position (a), in order to increase clamping power.
