Abstract: An improvement in an on-site foam generating apparatus which includes storage tanks for supplying the foam-forming reactants, a mixing chamber, and means for conveying the reactants through the mixing chamber. The improvement comprises means for automatically cleaning and flushing the mixing chamber. When the foam gun head containing the mixing chamber is at rest and inverted in an opening on the top of a solvent storage tank, solvent is continuously recycled through the mixing chamber. When the foam gun head is removed from the tank, a proximity switch senses the absence of metal and actuates an electrical circuit to operate a solenoid valve to divert the solvent from the mix chamber to a by-pass back to the tank. Additionally, a time delay relay is actuated which operates a solenoid valve for a predetermined period to supply purging gas to and through the mixing chamber upon removal of the foam gun head from the tank.
Abstract: An additive composition which can be adapted into conventional automatic dishwasher detergents for reducing foam during use thereof, comprising:A. a nonionic surface active agent having the formula: ##STR1## wherein R is a substantially linear, alkyl radical having an average from about 6 to about 12 carbon atoms,R' is a linear, alkyl radical of 1 to about 4 carbon atoms,R" is a linear, alkyl radical of 1 to about 4 carbon atoms,x is an integer of 1 to about 6,y is an integer of about 4 to about 20, andz is an integer of about 4 to about 25, andB. an alkyl phosphate ester having an average of 16 to 28 carbon atoms in the alkyl radical; andWherein the weight ratio of (A):(B) is from about 1:1 to about 99:1.
Abstract: Novel alkoxysilane cluster compounds are described having the formula: ##STR1## wherein n is an integer from 0 to 300; R is hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, aralkyl or --OSi(OR').sub.3 ; each R' is independently selected from alkyl, alkenyl, aryl or aralkyl with the proviso that at least a majority of R' radicals are sterically hindered alkyl groups having at least 3 carbon atoms; and R" and R'" are independently selected from hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, aralkyl, hydroalkyl, and halo or cyano substituted alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, aralkyl, and hydroalkyl. The preparation and use of these alkoxysilane cluster compounds also are described.

Abstract: Selected tetrafunctional methylene-bridged aromatic isocyanates and a method for their preparation are disclosed. The utility of these isocyanates as cross-linking agents for polyurethanes is also disclosed.

Abstract: Corrosion inhibiting compositions are described which contain a hydrazine compound, an organometallic complex and a quinone compound. The organometallic complex is the reaction product of a cobaltous, manganous, or cupric inorganic salt and one or more aromatic ligands containing at least two hydroxy or two amino functional groups, or at least one amino and one hydroxy group, in the ortho position with respect to one another. The quinone compound is one which renders the composition compatible with chelating phosphonate scale control agents. The use of these compositions as oxygen scavengers in corrosive environments is also described.
Abstract: Hydrogen halide levels of halogenated aliphatic nitriles are unexpectedly reduced by condensing a vapor comprising hydrogen halide and halogenated aliphatic nitrile at selected elevated temperatures, thus producing a product having reduced hydrogen halide levels and improved storage stability.
