Abstract: Apparatus for automatically welding a plug which is previously driven into holding engagement with the tube sheet to plug a leaky tube which has been reamed out to produce a pressed fit with the plug.
Abstract: Hole alignment probes utilizing strain gages spaced 90.degree. apart to indicate the extent and direction of misalignment of holes disposed in substantial alignment.
Abstract: Apparatus which can be remotely mounted in a tube in a tube sheet provides a platform for mounting a camera. The platform rotates about a shaft extending from the tube, tilts, and moves axially along the shaft to allow the camera to pan the entire tube sheet and equipment utilized to work thereon.
Abstract: Improved cooling is provided for the end regions of the stator cores of large dynamoelectric machines where substantial losses result from the presence of axial magnetic flux. Additional cooling is provided in the tooth portion of the end regions of the core by means of axial vents in the slots for flow of coolant gas between the winding conductors and the slot walls, thus cooling the teeth and reducing excessive heating, while the heated slot wall is spaced from the winding insulation and direct contact is prevented.
Abstract: Apparatus that is assembled quickly inside a channel head of a steam generator and is capable of performing various repair and inspection techniques remotely in order to reduce radiation exposure and facilitate rapid repair of the tubes.
Abstract: Improved cooling is provided for the end regions of the stator core of a large dynamoelectric machine. For this purpose, a solid rigid vent plate is placed in contact with the finger plate at each end of the core. The vent plates are non-magnetic plates of the same configuration as the core laminations and have radial grooves in at least one surface. Coolant gas flows through the grooves to directly cool the finger plate and the end laminations of the stator core.
Abstract: Apparatus that is assembled quickly inside a portion of a channel head of a steam generator and is capable of performing various repair and inspection operations on all of the tubes and the tubesheet in that portion of the channel head.
Abstract: Apparatus that is assembled quickly inside a channel head of a steam generator and is capable of performing various repair and inspection operations remotely within the channel head for reducing radiation exposure to personnel and facilitate rapid repair of the tubes of the steam generator.
Abstract: A support assembly for two rows of U-shaped tubes comprises a U-bend rack which aligns and holds the U-bend portions of the tubes in a plurality of leg racks which align and hold the straight leg portions of two rows of tubes, the support assembly is utilized in inspecting shipping and simultaneously installing two rows of tubes in a vertically oriented heat exchanger.

Abstract: Cutting apparatus having spaced apart cutters which can be brought closer together are disposed on one end of a boom which is movable in a plane transverse to the longitudinal axis of a closely packed tube bundle to cut out short segments from the tubes starting at the periphery and working through the tube bundle by bringing the cutters closer together to provide clearance as the cutters move deeper into the tube bundle.

Abstract: A plate cam and movable cam follower are disposed in a profile milling machine to reduce the costs of manufacturing the cam and improve the quality of the product.
Abstract: A discharge assembly for an axial flow compressor which places a diffuser which extends radially outwardly and axially outwardly adjacent the last row of rotatable blades to efficiently convert the swirl energy of the fluid into pressure energy without utilizing one or more arrays of stationary blades to straighten the flow before it enters the diffuser.
Abstract: Modular bundles of U-shaped tubes having primary fluid conduits with compression seals which cooperate with a pair of transversely disposed parallel support plates to allow removal and replacement of the modular tube bundles to facilitate maintenance and extend steam generator life in pressurized water reactors.

Abstract: A manifold is disposed in the inlet portion of a U-tube heat exchanger head to produce four passes, an outlet portion of the head forms a plenum chamber between the second and third pass to remove condensate from the steam and the manifold is vented to increase the effective scavenging of condensate from the tube side of the heat exchanger.
Abstract: A mandrel for hydraulically expanding tubes into engagement with a tubesheet, the body of the mandrel being coated with an electrically isolating impermeable membrane and having an eddy current coil adjacent the leading end thereof, the tube into which the mandrel is placed and the body of the mandrel serving as leads for operating the eddy current coil in order to determine when the leading end of the mandrel is adjacent the inner edge of the tubesheet and a mandrel having a portion formed from wire rope so that the mandrel is flexible and can fit into a tube adjacent a hemispherical head.
Abstract: Disclosed is an alternating current dynamoelectric machine which has damper plates of low resistivity material over the ends of the stator's tooth region to prevent axial flux from entering the stator's core. This invention also provides for cooling of the damper plates by the inclusion of cooling ducts within the damper plates. The flow of cooling fluid through the ducts cools the damper plates and also the end region of the dynamoelectric machine.
Abstract: Apparatus which rotates and tilts a dished surface and moves a welding head in unison therewith to continuously deposit weld metal at the bottom dead center of the dished surface to clad the surface.
