  • Patent number: 7816849
Abstract: A germicidal lamp having amalgam for controlling mercury vapor pressure contained in a location facilitating efficient high output operation. A low pressure mercury vapor discharge lamp has an amalgam container containing an amalgam positioned behind an electrode out of the arc path or space. The amalgam position is retained during high wall loading of the lamp preventing the amalgam from moving out of position. A heating and cooling element is placed generally at the amalgam position controlling the temperature of the amalgam. Efficient operation with high current loads and resulting high wall loading and temperatures is possible. The temperature control of the amalgam may also be used to dim or modify the illumination output of the lamp. The germicidal lamp is particularly suited to being positioned vertically in a waste water treatment system.

  • Patent number: 7806239
Abstract: An actuating system 1 for a wheel brake system of a motor vehicle, wherein the braking action is obtained by means of a rotatable cam element 2 fixed to the motor shaft 8 of an electric motor, with said rotatable cam element 2 abutting against an actuating member 4, so as to laterally displace said actuating member 4, resulting in the braking pads 5 being pressed against the friction element or brake disk. Recovery or adjustment of the backlash or gap arising due to the wear of the brake pads. The motor-cam group or assembly is displaced so as to keep the brake pads 5 in light contact with the friction element or disk but without exerting any unwanted braking action.

  • Patent number: 7795865
Abstract: A method and device for forecasting and detecting a polishing endpoint and real time film thickness monitoring capable of suppressing to a minimum Joule heat loss due to an eddy current, and precisely forecasting and detecting the polishing endpoint, and precisely calculating a remaining film amount to be removed and a polishing rate. A high frequency inductor sensor is positioned close to the conductive film, and monitors a flux change induced in the conductive film. When a film thickness becomes a film thickness corresponding to a skin depth of the conductive film a method of calculating on the spot a polishing rate and a remaining film amount to be removed is provided.

  • Patent number: 7795866
Abstract: A method for forecasting a polishing end time or point, wherein an inductor 36 in a sensor is placed adjacent to the conductive film 28. The magnetic flux formed by the inductor 36 is monitored, and a change of magnetic flux induced in the conductive film 28 is detected. Based on the skin effect of the material of the conductive film 28 as a factor, a process is used in which an eddy current formed with the decrease of the film thickness by polishing increases and a process in which the eddy current formed with the decrease of the film thickness substantially decreases when the polishing is progressed. Based on the characteristic change of the magnetic flux induced in the conductive film 28, the polishing end point is forecasted, and at the same time, the magnetic flux induced in the conductive film 28 is alleviated or turned off.

  • Patent number: 7768642
Abstract: An imaging catadioptric spectrometer using a Mangin type lens and pupil lens adjacent to a grating. Electromagnetic radiation received by aperture slits is directed to a reflective portion of a Mangin type lens and redirected to a pupil adjacent a diffraction grating. Diffracted light is transmitted through a refractive portion of the Mangin type lens and through a corrector lens to image the spectral components of electromagnetic radiation onto a detector. The detector may be an enhanced detector utilizing an array of smaller spaced detectors. By balancing the powers of the lens elements, a single optical material may be used. In one embodiment, multiple aperture slits are spaced apart and decentered with respect to the optical axis permitting collection of opposing diffraction orders on two detectors. A wide field of view having a low F number is obtained with an operating wavelength range in the infrared from approximately 7.5 to 13.5 microns.

A right and left pair of racks are engaged with a horizontal pinion shaft. The rack is pressed to a pinion shaft by a spring force, there is no backlash, and the image pickup substrate is also kept in a state with no looseness. The image pickup substrate moves in parallel with a correct horizontal posture being kept up or down by turning the pinion shaft. A horizontal rack is provided at an upper part on the backside of the image pickup substrate, and performs a right and left shift by operating a vertical pinion shaft which is engaged therewith.
