Abstract: A signal converting apparatus includes the following elements. A converting section converts an input signal into output signals on the basis of the values of reference parameters, serving as references of a plurality of parameters for signal conversion, and the values of newly proposed parameters. An evaluation input receiving section receives an evaluation input indicating the selection of either the output signal based on the values of the reference parameters or the output signal based on the values of the newly proposed parameters. A parameter updating section linearly changes the values of the newly proposed parameters when the evaluation input indicates the selection of the output signal based on the values of the newly proposed parameters, and nonlinearly changes the values of the reference and newly proposed parameters when the evaluation input indicates the selection of the output signal based on the values of the reference parameters.
Abstract: According to one embodiment, a monitoring system is provided, which has a personal authentication unit and a camera. The personal authentication unit is provided near a security gate and authenticates a person allowed to pass through the security gate. The camera photographs an area near the security gate, in which the personal authentication unit is provided. The monitoring system further has a data generation unit configured to generate personal attribute data about the person authenticated by the personal authentication unit, a person identification unit configured to identify the person authenticated, on the basis of video data generated by the camera, and a monitoring data generation unit configured to generate monitoring data composed of video data and metadata. The video data represents an image including the person identified by the person identification unit. The metadata is associated with the video data and containing the personal attribute data.

Abstract: Isolation trenches are formed in the main surface of a semiconductor substrate, and isolation regions. are embedded in these trenches. First insulating films, charge storage layers, a second insulating film, and a control gate are formed on the main surface of the semiconductor substrate sectioned by the isolation regions. Shielding layers are arranged in the isolation regions in such a manner that their bottom portions are lower than the channel regions and their upper portions are higher than at least the main surface of the semiconductor substrate to provide an electric and magnetic shield between their storage layers and channel regions of adjacent memory cells.

In one implementation, an information management apparatus includes a history information registration unit, a registration determination unit, and a base station information registration unit. The history information registration unit may be configured to register first and second history information within a storage unit. The registration determination unit may determine whether a difference value between time information associated with the first and second history information is less than a threshold value. The base station information registration unit may subsequently register at least position information associated with a communications apparatus and a base station, when the difference value is less than the threshold value.

Abstract: A method for transmitting video communication data includes: allocating a redundant audio data bandwidth according to an obtained current packet loss ratio of audio data, generating redundant audio data according to the redundant audio data bandwidth, and sending the redundant audio data; calculating a target total video data bandwidth according to a video communication bandwidth, an encoded audio data bandwidth, and the redundant audio data bandwidth; allocating a redundant video data bandwidth according to an obtained current packet loss ratio of video data and the target total video data bandwidth, generating redundant video data according to the redundant video data bandwidth, and sending the redundant video data. A method for transmitting video communication data and a video communication device are also provided. By using the method and device, the quality of voices and videos is improved in the video communication, and the utilization efficiency of the communication bandwidth is guaranteed.

Abstract: Methods disclosed permit the outlining of difference images associated with an image pair. In some embodiments, an outlined difference image may be generated by selecting at least one non-zero pixel in a thresholded difference image and setting the value of the selected pixel to the maximum value permitted for that color space. In some embodiments, each color component of the selected pixel may be set to the maximum value permitted for that color component. The outlined difference image may also be scaled while preserving thresholded difference information. In some embodiments, the outlined difference image may be rendered using a monitor or a printer.
Abstract: A method for detecting breaks in a border of a network is disclosed. The method may include monitoring network regulation and shaping traffic passing through the border. The method may also include providing, by a first confederate server on a first side of the border, a first connection request to a second confederate server on a second side of the border. Further, the method may include providing, by the second confederate server on the second side of the border, a second connection request to the first confederate server on the first side of the border. The method may also include executing a network diagnostic command if one or more of the first or second connection request is granted. Further, the method may also include copying any outputs of the network diagnostic command to a file.
