  • Patent number: 5154019
Abstract: A prefabricated door frame includes two vertical frame elements and a header element, each of channel shaped configuration with side flanges encompassing the wall at the edges of a wall opening. One of the vertical frame elements is secured by the aid of threaded fasteners passing through the jamb face of the frame element and into the rough frame member. Heads of the fasteners prevent movement of the frame element away from the rough frame member. After appropriate adjustment to plumb the frame element, cover plates are attached to the jamb face and overlie the screw heads thus to secure the frame element in its adjusted position. The header and other vertical frame element are positioned by the aid of registry clips inserted at the ends of the header element and the upper ends of the vertical frame elements.

  • Patent number: 4825612
Abstract: A molding for drywall panels or the like has a channel to provide a reveal. To provide selected finish or color, a trim structure is provided that likewise has a channel configuration. The side walls of the trim structure and the side walls of the molding provide a sawtooth and rib structure for snap connection. The ends of the trim channel sides provide laterally outwardly extending lips to overly the end edges of the molding. The trim conceals all plaster splashings, obviating cleaning, provides selected color or finish. The desirable reveal characateristic is retained by virtue of the fact that the trim structure itself is a channel.

  • Patent number: 4513925
Abstract: A drag brake for a spinning reel includes a stack of friction disks accommodated in a cup. A member threadedly mounted in the cup adjusts the braking force through a resilient element. The brake adjusting member is stopped in its outward retracting movement by a transverse spring extending across and mounted by the cup. A knob is attached to the end of the brake adjusting member and has an internally corrugated skirt that surrounds the cup. The spring projects beyond the cup to engage the corrugations yieldingly to maintain the setting of the brake.

  • Patent number: 4509211
Abstract: A pair of transducer units and a transmission line extend the operational range of an infrared remote control device that normally operates electrical or electromechanical apparatus such as a television channel selector. One transducer converts electrical signals into an infrared radiation pattern and is located adjacent the apparatus. The other transducer is located at any desired remote location linked by wire to the first transducer, and converts into electrical signals the infrared radiation pattern produced by the infrared remote control device. The first transducer includes an emitter in the form of an infrared light emitting diode, and the second transducer includes a sensor in the form of a photo diode. In certain applications, the transducers utilize the existing television cable.

  • Patent number: 4508118
Abstract: A diaphragm for a scuba diving regulator incorporates a contact member in the form of an axially thin spool cast or fabricated of low friction material. The contact member is installed at a central aperture of the diaphragm so that the end plates or flanges of the spool closely encompass the diaphragm on opposite sides. One of the flanges is located on the outside of the diaphragm, and the other is located on the inside, to be engaged by the actuating lever of the demand valve. No special sealing means need be provided about the spool, since the pressure difference between the ambient water and the air in the breathing chamber is always small, whatever be the depth of the diver in the water, but effective to maintain the seal.

  • Patent number: 4503323
Abstract: The punch card is designed to provide a readable hole that is offset from, but intersects the window area of the reader. The punch hole plug is preformed by a pair of arcuate cuts held together by tabs at opposite sides. A small pilot hole at the center of the plug receives the narrow shank of a stylus. A shoulder above the stylus shank engages about the pilot hole and pushes the plug into a recess, tearing the two tabs away. The pilot hole is offset from the read window.

  • Patent number: 4502165
Abstract: A nut and washer unit for attachment of a plumbing faucet or fixture permits rapid and easy mounting at a supporting structure. The nut is placed on the shank before the faucet or fixture is dropped through the mounting hole. A C-shaped washer is positioned from below, between the nut and the mounting structure. An axially separable coupling between the nut and washer achieves initial placement of both parts at the mounting structure by simple hand rotation of the nut. Final clamping is achieved by engagement of wings formed on the washer, rotation of the washer causing corresponding rotation of the nut and, hence, advancement of both parts into clamping position.

  • Patent number: 4488875
Abstract: A pillar attached directly or indirectly to the jawbone, has an accessible snap-in ball socket. A ball attached to and projecting from an overdenture or other removable prosthesis is sized to enter the socket after being forced through its restricted opening. The overdenture is fitted in such manner that in the absence of occlusal forces, the ball lies at or just inwardly of the restriction. The socket is extended inwardly so that, upon the application of occlusal forces, the ball moves deeper into the socket without imposing stress upon the pillar or its supporting structure. Yet lateral stability is provided.

  • Patent number: 4412447
Abstract: An inverted tube closely fits a supporting cup and contains a column of water. A substantially annular or ring-like space is formed between the cup and the tube. Water is fed to the annular space through a lateral opening in the tube, the upper edge of the opening being located just below the level of the cup rim. As water evaporates from the exposed ring of water, it is replaced by the inverted column, air being admitted through the tube opening. Evaporation and transpiration causes reduction of the water level thus to indicate the amount of moisture loss from the surrounding soil.

  • Patent number: 4411105
Abstract: The drill grinder includes a drill bit holder mounted for movement about a swing axis provided by a rocker arm. The swing axis parallels the plane of the grinding wheel. An index ring mounted on the holder provides precise indexing of the drill bit. The extent of micrometric feed movement of the rocker arm is precisely marked so that such movement can be exactly duplicated as to all lip surfaces, thus achieving a symmetrically surfaced drill bit. These structures are integrated in a system that provides simple adjustment for drill bit size, clearance angle and contour control of lip surface.
