Abstract: The present invention provides a plate brick having a low amount of generation of smoke and a gas with a pungent odor during use, and exhibiting high durability. A plate brick of the present invention is obtained by: adding an organic binder to a refractory raw material mixture containing 0.5 to 20 mass % of aluminum and/or aluminum alloy; kneading the mixture with the organic binder; forming the kneaded mixture into a shaped body; and subjecting the shaped body to a heat treatment at a temperature of 400 to 1000° C., wherein the plate brick is obtained without being impregnated with a carbon-containing liquid material comprising tar or pitch, after the heat treatment. The plate brick has a compressive strength of 180 MPa or more, and a weight-increasing rate of 1% or less as measured in a hydration test using an autoclave.

Abstract: The invention provides an electrically-driven kitchen machine including a food mixer or a food processor. The machine has a support platform for supporting a receptacle for foodstuffs to be mixed or otherwise processed. The machine has an electric motor used to drive mixing or processing tools disposed in the receptacle; and a heater for heating the foodstuffs in the receptacle. In order to ensure that the temperature of the foodstuffs is accurately determined, the base of the receptacle consists of multiple layers, including a first metallic material, such as aluminum, having a relatively high thermal conductivity, sandwiched between outer and inner skins of a second metallic material of lower thermal conductivity than the first metallic material. The machine is also provided with first and second probes, each protruding through the receptacle-supporting platform and urged upwardly to contact the inner skin and the first metallic material respectively.

Abstract: A computer implemented method and system for determining resource usage of a tenant in a multi-tenant architecture. The method includes the steps of: recording, within predetermined time intervals, total consumption of each resource in each predetermined time interval; obtaining total times of calling each operation by each tenant in each predetermined time interval; calculating consumption of each resource during each operation based on the total times and the total consumption obtained within the period of time; and calculating usage of each resource by each tenant within the period of time based on the calculated consumption of each resource during each operation and the total times of calling each operation of each tenant in each predetermined time interval. The system includes apparatus for performing the above method.

Abstract: A method, information processing system, and computer program storage product for managing information within an electronic file are provided. A plurality of information sets within an electronic file is analyzed. At least one of the information sets is compared to at least one statistical classification model. The statistical classification model includes one or more probabilities associated with a plurality of analyzed information sets that indicate a likelihood that a respective analyzed information set is classified sensitive information. The at least one information set is determined to substantially match at least one analyzed information set in the statistical classification model. The probability associated with the at least one analyzed information set is determined whether to be above a threshold. The at least one information set is classified as sensitive information in response to determining that the probability is above the threshold.

Abstract: A method and system are provided for debugging a software application in a data processing system that includes a server entity and client entities. For at least one of the client entities, a server component of the application running on the server entity is accessed, and a client component of the application is downloaded from the server entity. The client component is executed. Client log information relating to the execution of the client component is saved by invoking a log function provided by the client component; the client log information is saved into a non-persistent memory structure of the client component. The client log information is transmitted for use in the debugging of the application.

Abstract: A method, information processing system, and computer program storage product for associating jobs with resource subsets in a job scheduler. At least one job class that defines characteristics associated with a type of job is received. A list of resource identifiers for a set of resources associated with the job class is received. A set of resources available on at least one information processing system is received. The resource identifiers are compared with each resource in the set of resources available on the information processing system. A job associated with the job class with is scheduled with a set of resources determined to be usable by the job based on the comparing.

Abstract: A magnetic tunnel junction device comprises a substrate including a patterned wiring layer. A magnetic tunnel junction (MTJ) stack is formed over the wiring layer. A low-conductivity layer is formed over the MTJ stack and a conductive hard mask is formed thereon. A spacer material is then deposited that includes a different electrical conductivity than the low conductivity layer. The spacer material is etched from horizontal surfaces so that the spacer material remains only on sidewalls of the hard mask and a stud. A further etch process leaves behind the sidewall-spacer material as a conductive link between a free magnetic layer and the conductive hard mask, around the low-conductivity layer. A difference in electrical conductivity between the stud and the spacer material enhances current flow along the edges of the free layer within the MTJ stack and through the spacer material formed on the sidewalls.

Abstract: A system and method is disclosed that provides for displaying on the screen of a handheld electronic device, an extended menu or a short menu, which is a subset of the corresponding extended menu. The system and method include a contact data entry record of an address book application being displayed on a screen. If a contact data entry record is designated through use of the auxiliary user input device and no menu is displayed, the user may initiate an ambiguous request. Various short menus are provided with their respective menu items being dependent and adjustable based upon the position of a cursor on the display page, the currently opened application, and/or the previous selections. Further, a selection from the short menu is capable of displaying the extended menu corresponding thereto.

Abstract: Processes for the recovery of ethanol, useful as a fuel, from various cellulosic feedstock materials fermented to produce ethanol-containing beer are disclosed. The present invention provides a method and a system for ethanol recovery from highly viscous fermented citrus waste biomass. The systems overcome various challenges, including effectively stripping the ethanol from biomass beer in an energy efficient and economical manner that may allow for the further dehydration of the ethanol/water mix in a traditional rectifier distillation column. In certain embodiments, a series of flash stages and beer stripping columns are capable of operating with highly viscous slurries and/or feedstocks containing high levels of solids.

Abstract: A resistance apparatus for use with exercise devices includes an axle and outer housing for rotatably mounting the axle therein. At least one inner housing includes an opening for receiving the axle therethrough so that the inner housing is fixably mounted on the axle. The inner housing is rotatably mounted inside the outer housing to permit rotation of the inner housing along with the axle within the outer housing. At least a first tensioned member is disposed within the inner housing. The first tensioned member includes a first end and a second end. The first end of the tensioned member engages an engagement area of the inner housing. The second end of the tensioned member engages an engagement area of the outer housing. The tensioned member creates a rotational restoring force between the inner housing and the outer housing.

Abstract: A method and system is provided for computing an approximation of the results of a query. The approximation represents a superset of all possible results, by computing a set of records of types (as opposed to a set of records of values, which is the normal result of a query). This is different from conventional systems, which typically infer types for each field individually. For each record of types, one may also keep track of equalities of fields to improve the precision of the approximation. The approximation can be used to detect erroneous parts of queries that always return an empty result, regardless of the contents of the data source. Furthermore, the same approximation is also useful in performing optimizations: first, by eliminating parts of procedure calls that are guaranteed to be irrelevant to the calling context, and second, by eliminating unnecessary type tests in the query.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for repeated communication sessions between a sender (e.g., RFID tag) and a receiver (RFID reader) that employs a proactive information security scheme is based on the assumption that the information exchanged during at least one of every n successive communication sessions is not exposed to an adversary. The sender and the receiver maintain a vector of n entries that is repeatedly refreshed by pairwise XORING entries, with a new vector of n entries that is randomly chosen by the sender and sent to the receiver as a part of each communication session. Also, a computational secure scheme based on the information secure scheme is employed to ensure that even in the case that the adversary listens to all the information exchanges, the communication between the sender and the receiver is secure. In particular, the scheme can be used in the domain of remote controls (e.g., for cars).

Abstract: Disclosed are a system and a method for a computerized automatic placement of objects in media files in post-production. Embodiments of the present invention enable the automatic placement of objects which appear in a media file, such as a digital video file. According to one embodiment of the present invention, the disclosed system and method allow the replacement of a specific pattern which appears in a given video file with a new image, in a fully transparent manner. According to embodiments of the present invention the makers of the media file place a designated pattern in the media file, such as a sticker on an object. Embodiments of the present invention enable the replacing of a new image on the designated pattern on the sticker with a new image.

Abstract: A scintillator system is provided to detect the presence of fissile material and radioactive material. One or more neutron detectors include scintillator material, and are optically coupled to one or more wavelength shifting fiber optic light guide media that extend from the scintillator material to guide light from the scintillator material to a photosensor. An electrical output of the photosensor is connected to an input of a pre-amp circuit designed to provide an optimum pulse shape for each of neutron pulses and gamma pulses in the detector signals. Scintillator material as neutron detector elements can be spatially distributed with interposed moderator material. Individual neutron detectors can be spatially distributed with interposed moderator material. Detectors and moderators can be arranged in a V-shape or a corrugated configuration.

Abstract: A method, information processing system, and computer readable article of manufacture model data. A first dataset is received that includes a first set of physical world data. At least one data model associated with the first dataset is generated based on the receiving. A second dataset is received that includes a second set of physical world data. The second dataset is compared to the at least one data model. A probability that the second dataset is modeled by the at least one data model is determined. A determination is made that the probability is above a given threshold. A decision associated with the second dataset based on the at least one data model is generated in response to the probability being above the given threshold. The probability and the decision are stored in memory. The probability and the decision are provided to user via a user interface.

Abstract: Disclosed are stable PS preparations, in powder, liquid and dispersion forms, as well as methods of producing thereof. Most importantly, the stable PS preparations are particularly devoid of residual phospholipase D activity, and the methods of eliminating such activity are also described herein. Lastly, uses of these PS preparations in nutraceuticals or as active agents of pharmaceutical compositions are also provided herein.

Abstract: A system for managing an insurance scheme includes a benefit module to define at least one insured event for an insured person and to define at least one benefit to be paid out on the occurrence of one of the insured events. A calculation module alters the at least one benefit based on a) a time factor; and b) the life impact of the insured event on the insured person. An awards module, on the occurrence of the at least one insured event, provides the at least one altered benefit to the insured person.

Abstract: A multinode server system includes several servers mutually connected, each of which processes one mesh obtained by dividing a virtual space. The virtual space is displayed as a result of processing of each mesh by the servers. A resource management node detects load states of the servers, and changes allocation of the servers to process the meshes in accordance with the load states. A network allows several clients to share the virtual space. The servers processing the meshes are changed while giving priority to an adjacent mesh beyond a server border in response to the load states.
