Abstract: The present invention is intended to drastically improve a precision polishing characteristic of a cordierite-based sintered body which has low thermal expansibility, high dimensional long-term stability and high rigidity (high elastic modulus). The cordierite-based sintered body comprises cordierite as primary components, and one or more selected from the group consisting of La, Ce, Sm, Gd, Dy, Er, Yb and Y in an oxide-equivalent amount of 1 to 8 mass %, without any crystal phase other than a cordierite crystal phase. A mass ratio of primary components of the cordierite satisfies the following relations: 3.85?SiO2/MgO?4.60, and 2.50?Al2O3/MgO?2.70, and the cordierite-based sintered body after being subjected to precision polishing has a precisely polished surface with an average surface roughness (Ra) of 1 nm or less.

Abstract: Disclosed are a system, method, and computer readable medium for collecting statistics associated with data in a database. The method comprises determining an amount of memory needed to collect statistics for data associated with a defined data type in a relational database. The defined data type is based upon a mark-up language using a tree structure with one or more root-to-node paths therein. The amount of memory as determined is allocated for collecting the statistics for the data of the defined data type. A statistics collection is performed for the data of the defined data type in a single pass through the database and within the amount of memory which has been allocated.

Abstract: The invention relates to an airbag system comprising an airbag module, which has an opening mechanism for the airbag tear seam of a seat cover for the airbag accommodated underneath the cover in a non-visible manner, wherein the opening mechanism is configured such that the deploying force of the airbag tears a hole or holes into the tear seam, which bring(s) about a slight opening of the seam according to the physics of a ‘run,’ wherein a strip, or plurality of strips, or strip ends sewn into the airbag tear seam of the seat cover in more than one locations is/are torn from the seam driven by the deploying force of the airbag. The invention further relates to a vehicle seat comprising such an airbag system, and to a deployment method for such an airbag system.
Abstract: An interlock system for actuating a switch to interrupt a flow of electrical current to a component of a domestic electrical appliance is described. The current is interrupted unless a sensor indicates that the appliance is in a safe condition, and the system includes a rod-like member which is turned about its own axis through at least a predetermined angle, when the appliance is safe, to actuate the switch to permit current to flow. The safe condition is typified by the secure placement of a lid or cover on a receptacle in a manner intended for operation of the appliance. Moreover, the lid or cover for the receptacle may be formed with an upstanding, chimney-like feed-tube through which food items can be added for processing in the receptacle, and a “pusher” device, sized to fit closely within the feed tube, is further provided, by means of which a user can urge foodstuffs into the receptacle for processing.

Abstract: An apparatus determines cooling characteristics of an operational cooling device used for transferring heat from an electronic device. The operational cooling device is thermally coupled to a heat pipe. The heat pipe has an exposed surface for selective application of heat thereon. Heat from a localized heat source is selectively applied to at least one region of the exposed surface. The heat source is preferably capable of being varied both positionally relative to the exposed surface and in heat intensity. A heat shield is preferably positioned around the exposed surface of the heat pipe to isolate the operational cooling device from the heat from the localized heat source. A temperature detector repeatedly measures a temperature distribution across the exposed surface while the cooling device is in a heat transfer mode. The temperature distribution is then used to thermally characterize the operational cooling device.

Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product present products in an interactive environment. A determination is made that a user is accessing at least a portion of a given level in a set of levels of the interactive environment using at least a zoom operation on at least a portion of the interactive environment. The zoom operation dynamically changes a product information detail level of the interactive environment to correspond to one level in the set of levels. Each subsequent level in the set of levels is associated with a set of more detailed product information than a previous level. A set of product information associated with the given level and the portion of the given level is accessed based on the portion of the given level being accessed by the user. The set of product information that has been accessed is displayed to the user in the interactive environment.
