Abstract: An engine control system for an internal combustion system changes an initially set control value either to a specified control value suitable for a grade of gasoline having a low octane rating when an engine operating condition is in a first operating zone for knocking detection ranging over a specific engine load and under a specific engine speed or to another specified value suitable for another grade of gasoline having a high octane rating when an engine operating condition is in a second operating zone for knocking detection ranging over the specific engine speed. Grades of gasoline delivered to the internal combustion engine are discriminated based on the frequency of knockings continually detected by a knock sensor. Gasoline delivered to the internal combustion engine is regarded as having a high octane rating when the frequency of knockings is at low level or as having a low octane rating when when the frequency of knockings is at a high level.
Abstract: A method for producing elastomer skins as lining material for plastic molded articles, such as automobile dashboards, in which a parting agent and a polyurethane system are introduced into a preform (3) taken from a working model (1) forming a manipulable, dimensionally stable elastomer skin (8), which is unmolded after completion of the reaction and finished in a final mold (11) to make a molded article for improving the process of in-mold coating such that UV-resistant elastomer skins are produced easily and absolutely dimensionally accurately, even with undercuts and narrow, deep crevices. A polyurethane paint is provided between the parting agent and the polyurethane system. Prior to the introduction of the polyurethane layer, the preform (3) is at least regionally inverted into a position in which its side facing the spraying tool (2a) is on the outside and has a substantially convex curvature.
Abstract: A data processing system associated with a surface flatness measuring device, distinguishes between differential elevation signals respectively generated by an accelerometer type sensor while at rest and in motion. The readout of time-spaced data is thereby limited to those generated while the device is in steady state condition at rest in measuring positions, for collection of accurate data.
Abstract: A housing is provided in which a horizontal drum assembly is mounted for rotation at low rpm about a horizontal axis. The drum assembly includes a central foraminated cylinder outwardly from which foraminated peripherally spaced vanes extend in generally radial planes of the drum assembly. Each pair of peripherally adjacent vanes defines a pocket in which to receive a panel to be dried and structure is provided within the housing for upwardly discharging heated dry air toward the axis of rotation of the drum assembly from below the latter and with drawing warm moist air from an upper central portion of the housing above the drum assembly.

Abstract: A light reflection sheet is provided incorporating a transparent polyester resin film having an aluminum coating or film disposed on one side and over which a transparent polyester resin film is applied. The side of the first mentioned resin film remote from the aluminum coating is exposed and provided with minute, uneven random reflection permeable faces to reduce dazzling and temporal eyesight problems resulting from direct reflection.
Abstract: A multipolar rotor of an electric machine, essentially in the form of a circular cylinder, comprising an even number of pole magnets (1), which is equal to at least four, said pole magnets (1) being arranged uniformly along a circle and interpole magnets (2) adjacent thereto. The pole magnets (2) form, in combination, a cylindrical surface of the rotor. The pole magnets (1) are magnetized parallel to their planes (5) of symmetry, while the interpole magnets (2) are magnetized normal to their planes (6) of symmetry.

Abstract: A method in real time control systems for seismic interference to indicate an acceptable level of interference in relation to the amplitude, angle of incidence, and frequency of a seismic reflection signal, and to remove such interference loaded signals during seismic surveys, comprises steps to determine lower threshold values of coverage, identify interference and amplitude anomaly in the recorded signal of reflection, estimate the expected value of amplitude characteristic of the signal on the basis of recorded amplitude characteristics of recorded signals from one or a plurality of preceding series of survey, mark time windows in which interference and/or amplitude anomaly are identified, generate a table of the number of times a certain time window was marked in the series of recordings of the same point of reflection, assign limits on the number of interference events to various marked time windows, and remove from the recordings those time windows wherein the number of interference events exceeds the l
Abstract: The invention relates to a single-shell helmet made from a styrene or polystyrene-based foam plastic. Unlike in the case of the hitherto known one-piece helmets of this type, the invention subdivides the helmet into shell parts, which are integrated together by means of hinged areas and can be easily adapted to different head sizes by means of an adjusting system.
Abstract: An apparatus for separating, by pressing, liquid and solid fractions intimately associated in a heterogeneous mixture, such as for example juices, pulps, stones, pits, pips, stalks and vegetable elements of fruits such as wine grapes is characterized in that a vessel (14) is provided having perforate side walls (15, 16) and bounded on its open upstream end by a piston-like member (10, 11) and on its open downstream end by a conical outlet member (50) defining an annular outlet passage, the vessel being filled with the heterogeneous mixture in an upstream-downstream direction thereof, and the vessel then being moved (30, 31) in the opposite, downstream-upstream direction so that the heterogeneous mixture is compressed between the piston-like member (10, 11) and the conical member (50), the pressing force being regulated and modulated for preventing deleterious over-pressing.
Abstract: Printed products arriving in an imbricated formation are wound on a hollow cylindrical winding core together with a winding band in a wind-up station. A magazine or storage unit for the finished wound product packages is arranged in the vicinity of the wind-up station. After a wound product package has been fully wound up, it is rolled out of the wind-up station into the magazine or storage unit. A pallet is located in this magazine or storage unit onto which the finished wound product package is rolled. This pallet is displaced substantially perpendicular to the rolling direction of the finished wound product package. In this way, a plurality of wound product packages are arranged adjacent one another, typically in side by side relationship on one pallet. Blocking elements prevent the finished wound product packages from rolling off the pallet.
Abstract: An automatic speed changing apparatus, employable for a motorcar, which includes a hydraulic pump on the driving side mounted on a driving shaft, a plurality of hydraulic motors on the driven side mounted on a driven shaft, a distributor including a cylinder and a piston slidably received in the cylinder, a hydraulic oil collecting pipe having a large diameter in which working hydraulic oil is stored for the hydraulic pump and motors on both the driving and driven sides, an idling lever pivotally supported in the cylinder to be operable during a period of idling and a piston lever for displacing the piston axially in the cylinder during normal operation and during a period of engine braking.
Abstract: An electromagnetically activated mechanism has mechanical input and output members, at least one of which cooperates with the armature of an electromagnet which is energisable to prevent or limit movement of that member. The electromagnet and its armature are located so that when the electromagnet is de-energized the armature can be urged by the aforesaid one member towards a position in which the magnetic gap between the armature and the electromagnet is a minimum.

The intake system includes an intake manifold having a plurality of discrete intake passages connected to the plurality of cylinders, respectively, and two intake pipes, each intake pipe being arranged in such a way as to descend substantially vertically downwardly from a communicating portion where the intake pipe communicates with each of two groups of the intake passages, turns to extend horizontally in one longitudinal direction of the engine body and then turns back to extend in the opposite longitudinal direction of the engine body surrounding the discrete intake passages. The two groups of the discrete intake passages are connected to two groups of the cylinders which in each and the same group are not intended to be fired one after another.

Abstract: A shaft-locking device which locks rotation of a movable shaft by a clamping force of a coil spring closely surrounding a fixed shaft and a movable shaft. Both sides of the coil spring are inserted surrounding the fixed shaft and a central portion of the coil spring surrounds the movable shaft. In case of rotation of the movable shaft on both sides, the locking torque is applied. Further, the closed state of the coil spring to the movable shaft is maintained uniformly without any relation to operation by separating the end portions of the coil spring at the movable shaft side of the coil spring from an outer circumference of the movable shaft so that a constant locking torque may be always obtained.
