Abstract: An oscillator is provided with an internal, high gain hysteresis effect so as to offset the linear regions of the waveform and to avoid spikes upsetting the count of a reference divider controlling the oscillator. The crystal (10) and capacitor (11) are connected between the base of one (T.sub.1) and the collector of the other (T.sub.2) transistor of a long-tailed pair, signals appearing at the collector thereof being fed via emitter followers (T.sub.5, T.sub.6) to a further long-tailed pair (T.sub.7, T.sub.8) having tapped collector resistors (R.sub.1, R.sub.2). The signal appearing at the tapping point of one of the further pair (T.sub.7) is fed to the base of a transistor (T.sub.3) whose collector-emitter resistor lies in the load circuit of one of the transistors (T.sub.1) of the first long-tailed pair.
Abstract: A system for controlling the folded or erected rearview mirror position selectively by turning reversible motors (23,24) incorporated in the rearview mirrors by operating an operation switch (22) in the cabin of a motor vehicle, includes a door lock controller (10) locking the doors of the motor vehicle by an outer door lock switch (13,14) or inner door lock switch (15,16), a controller (20) for controlling the folded rearview mirrors, and switches (25,26,27,28) for detecting the folded or erected rearview mirror position mounted in the rearview mirror turning parts, in which an electrically foldable rearview mirror system is interlocked with the door lock controller (10) for controlling the folded rearview mirrors including a driving circuit (31,32) changing over the reversible motors between regular and reverse rotations, and a micro computer (30) controlling the driving circuit by processing the inputs from said switches.

Abstract: An assembled commutator has a thermoplastics base supporting segments. A ring 15 of high temperature, non-softening material, such as phenolic, fits on a shelf on the base beneath tangs which are for hot connection, particularly forging, to an armature wire. The ring is held in place by fingers on the tangs.
Abstract: A method of charging waterlogged boreholes with water-resistant particulate explosive material, comprises inserting a pneumatic line with upwardly directed nozzles at the lower end thereof and a material supply line into a borehole, blowing compressed air through the pneumatic line such that at least a portion thereof is directed through the nozzles to form a substantially water-free air pocket around the lower end of the supply line, supplying particulate explosive material through the supply line to a charging zone in the vicinity of the lower end thereof, and gradually withdrawing said line as the borehole fills up with explosive material.
Abstract: Diamino compounds, dinitro compounds, diol compounds and a process for preparing the diamino compounds which are useful as materials of poly-imide compounds for obtaining aligning films having high pretilt angles in liquid crystal display elements are provided.The diamino compounds are represented by the general formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 -R.sub.6 are a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1 to 22 carbon atoms, respectively, and R.sub.7 -R.sub.12 are a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms, F or Cl respectively.

The signal obtained by analysis of the source picture is subjected to spatio-temporal subsampling and to non-linear motion compensation filtering, leading to transmitting the points representative of the same source frame over at least two successive transmission frames (t1, t2) and transmitting, at the same time, assistance data defining a motion vector field. To improve the compatible frame delivered by a first generation receiver, the second analysis field corresponding to the same source frame is subjected to time attenuation in the direction of motion.

Abstract: In an optical pick-up unit, there is provided with a structure for supporting a holder holding at least an objective lens through a spring support assembly so that said holder is movable in both of a focusing direction and a tracking direction, carried on a carriage capable of traveling at a high speed in the tracking direction, a spring constant of the spring support assembly is so set as to be larger in the tracking direction than in the focusing direction, whereby an amount of a positioning error of the objective lens produced in the tracking direction when the carriage is driven at a high speed is reduced. As a result, by the thus reduced amount of the positioning error of the objective lens, the optical pick-up unit is improved in access time in comparison with the conventional optical pick-up unit.
Abstract: An ambulatory physiological evaluation system including a main and a background gamma radiation detector provided in a vestlike garment worn by a patient for the purpose of monitoring and/or diagnosing the patient's physiological activities during a prescribed period of time. Also included is an apparatus and method for determining the exact location of the left ventricle of the heart, positioning the main radiation detector relative to the left ventricle, and maintaining the position of the main radiation detector relative to the left ventricle during an ambulatory study period. The ambulatory physiological evaluation system also contains electronic circuitry which monitors and processes information obtained from the radiation detectors. Information from the main and auxiliary detectors, as well as ECG electrodes is recorded on a portable cassette recorder.

Abstract: A compass for sweeping an arc of a circle on a sheet of material comprises an annular base having a lower surface engageable with the material. A support member is rotatably supported on the base and a toolholder is mounted on the support member. The toolholder is moveable with the support and upon rotation of the support relative to the base, sweeps an arc of a circle. The toolholder has a toolpost to support a tool and permit movement of the tool relative to the support member in a direction generally normal to the sheet of material to facilitate movement of a tool mounted in the holder into and out of engagement with the sheet of material.
Abstract: A patient ambulation motion detector is intended for attachment to a lateral generally vertical surface of a patient'body. The detector includes a motion sensor switch and a detachment detector switch which are mounted on a circuit board, the circuit board being in turn enclosed within an attachment casing which is attachable to a lateral surface of the patient's body. The motion sensor switch is a mercury switch mounted to the circuit board and having the axis of movement of the mercury contained therein oriented generally parallel to the circuit board so as to be responsive to declination of that portion of the patient's body to which the detector is attached and which declination is indicative of impending ambulation. The detachment detector switch is a spring contact switch which is openable and closable by a plunger acting thereon and sensitive to detachment of the detector from the patient's body. The detector may be wired to a conventional switched nurse call system.
Abstract: An electromagnetic detection system comprises a transmitter-receiver apparatus coupled to at least one antenna element to form an electromagnetic interrogation field in an interrogation zone defined at least in part by physical means. A plurality of responders is capable of generating a detectable signal under the influence of an interrogation field. According to the invention, at least one antenna element is a suitably formed structural element forming part of the physical means.

Abstract: Sports player protective equipment having a system of protective padding members, and of a scale-type configuration having one section of protective padding overlapping an adjacent section of protective padding. The padding sections overlap one another and include a sliding extension member, the end of which is secured to an approximate midsection of an adjacent padding section so as to allow sliding movement of one padding section relative to an adjacent padding section. This sliding movement allows for expansion, contraction and rotation of the entire arm protective padding, which provides improved freedom of movement with greatly increased capability of bending of an arm. Advantageously, the arm protective padding sections are capable of extension, contraction and rotation with respect to each other without diminishing protective capability. Therefore, a single chest protector fits different sizes of players due to the extension and contraction capabilities of the arms.

Abstract: A PWM type D/A converter having a first PWM converter, a second PWM converter and an analog adder. The digital input signals are designated as odd and even numbered input signals and the reference timing points for outputting odd/even numbered input signal are designated as odd/even numbered reference timing points. The first PWM converter receive the digital input signal to output signal whose rising/falling timing point is set at the earlier/later timing, the larger the value of the odd/even numbered input signal relative to the odd/even numbered reference timing point and the pulse width is determined by the values of the odd numbered input signal and the next even numbered input signal.

Abstract: A steplessly variable power transmission includes a load change detecting device for detecting a change speed in an engine load when an engine load zone to which a value of the engine load belongs is changed from an intermediate zone to a specific zone other than the intermediate zone. A speed ratio hold device is provided for maintaining the speed ratio at a constant value determined in accordance with the change speed in the engine load obtained through the load detecting device and for providing the speed ratio control means with the constant value of the speed ratio as a control signal. The speed ratio is fixed at a value in accordance with change speed in an acceleration pedal stroke under a kick down and engine brake conditions.
Abstract: A process for the production of blister copper from high-grade copper matte or similar copper sulphide comprises the steps of solidifying and cooling molten copper matte produced in a primary smelting furnace followed by crushing of the solidified matte if necessary to produce a coarse solid matte less than about fifteen centimeters in size, heating a bath smelting reactor to a temperature at which converting reactions take place and providing a bath of molten copper, continuously feeding measured quantities of coarse solid matte and flux into the bath smelting reactor, continously introducing sufficient quantities of oxygen or oxygen enriched air through submerged fluid protected tuyeres such that the iron and sulphur present in the copper matte are oxidized, and periodically withdrawing molten blister copper, liquid slag and continously withdrawing off-gas from the bath smelting reactor.
