  • Patent number: 5098318
Abstract: An electrical contact assembly has a contact carrier formed with symmetrically opposed rows of comb-like guides, opposed rows of double-ended contact fingers mounted in the guides, a first contact piece supported by the contact carrier between the contact fingers at one end of the fingers and a second contact piece for insertion between the contact fingers at the opposite end of the fingers. For resiliently urging the fingers to contact the respective contact pieces, a pair of spring elements are attached to the contact carrier. Each spring element has a central web mounted on the carrier and opposite rows of arms extending from the web to engage opposite portions of the respective fingers.

  • Patent number: 5099356
Abstract: The invention relates to an electrochromic (EC) device having oppositely arranged two EC electrode layers. The first EC electrode layer uses Prussian blue, osmium purple or ruthenium purple and accordingly takes on a characteristic color by electrochemical oxidation, and the second EC electrode layer uses a transition metal oxide which takes on a characteristic color by electrochemical reduction, such as WO.sub.3. The space between the two EC electrode layers is filled with an electrolyte solution. When an EC device of this type is left in the bleached state for some period of time and then driven for coloration, the density of coloration is insufficient because of a decrease in the quantity of electricity in the oxidizing and coloring reaction of the first EC electrode layer. The invention solves this problem by using, as the electrolyte solution, a solution of a lithium salt and a sodium salt in an organic solvent prepared such that Na.sup.+ ion amounts to 3-30 mol % of the total of Li.sup.+ ion and Na.sup.

  • Patent number: 5097808
Abstract: An engine control system for an engine of a vehicle provided with a power steering system having a power steering pump has an engine torque controller for varying output torque of the engine according to engine operating conditions. The engine torque controller is forced to increasingly vary the engine torque when a hydraulic pressure sensor, located just behind, or after, the power steering pump, detects a hydraulic pressure higher than a predetermined hydraulic pressure. The varying action of the engine torque controller is suspended while a temperature sensor, located just before or after the hydraulic pressure sensor, detects a temperature lower than a predetermined temperature.

  • Patent number: 5096563
Abstract: An optical disk manufacturing method comprises a step of preparing a master disk having an elastomer layer, formed on a transparent substrate and containing photosensitive dyes, and a polymer support layer, formed on the elastomer layer and having a glass transition temperature; a step of forming minute bumps on the master disk by irradiation of a focusing laser beam; a step of forming a metal layer on that surface of the master disk which has the minute bumps; and a step of forming a stamper layer on that surface of the master disk which is rendered conductive, thereby forming a stamper. According to another optical disk manufacturing method, the metal stamper forming step is replaced with a step of forming a transfer layer, made of a transparent ultraviolet-ray hardening resin, on that surface of the master disk which has the minute bumps, thereby forming a resin stamper.

  • Patent number: 5097355
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for carrying out a repetitive scan of a sensor element according to predetermined parameters. The sensor element is attached to a permanent magnet with diametrically opposed poles resulting in an open magnetic circuit. A coil is provided around said magnet, through which a current is passed, of predetermined frequency and intensity, where means are provided for enabling the rotation of the magnet and the sensor attached thereto as a result of the interaction of the two magnetic fields. According to a preferred embodiment, the scan is controlled by signals originating from electrooptical sensing means arranged in closed loop with the current which is applied to the coil.

  • Patent number: 5097324
Abstract: A beam index color display unit uses a single light beam scanning a two-dimensional screen of light beam sensitive three-color phosphor stripes arranged with regularity. The intensity of the light beam is modulated in response to information signals in a video signal while the scanning timing of the light beam is detected by light sensing devices disposed between each of phosphor stripes. Thus, images are displayed on the two-dimensional screen of the display unit.

  • Patent number: 5097457
Abstract: A single channel optical recording system is described, which system does not require a second rotating optical element. The system uses focus error correction components located outside the rotating drum. Light transmitted to and from the drum is at all times axially symmetric, thus circumventing the problem of image rotation. Lateral error correction takes place entirely within the drum, requiring only the transmission of d.c. electrical power across the rotating interface. Preferably the physical distribution of optical components within the drum is symmetric to ensure mechanical balance. A dual beam tracking system to write data in compact form in a single-channel optical tape recorder is also described. The tracking is achieved in the drum and without any additional optical elements. Passive or active alignment of the two beams before entering the drum is achieved using an extended anamorphic prism pair and without introducing additional optical surfaces into the beam path.

  • Patent number: 5096303
Abstract: Electronic circuit arrangement in a temperature measurement circuit based on a platinum resistor (PT) as a temperature sensing resistor, whereby in addition to the platinum resistor there is provided a reference resistor (R1). The measurement circuit (S) is adapted to apply equally large DC currents (I5, I6) to both resistors having a common return lead (3) from these, and to sense the resulting voltage difference (U) across the resistors. By means of at least one operational amplifier (G) the voltage difference is adapted to cause an output DC current from the measurement circuit (S) being proportional to the voltage diffeerence and thereby constituting a measure of the temperature of the platinum resistor (PT). The measurement circuit (S) comprises means (L) for compensating for non-linearity of the temperature-resistance characteristic of the platinum resistor.
