  • Patent number: 8146341
Abstract: Systems and methods for integrating heat exchanger elements of HRSG systems with gas turbine exhaust diffusers are provided in the disclosed embodiments. The systems and methods may include integrating heat exchanger elements, such as steam pipes, with various components of an exhaust diffuser. For example, the heat exchanger elements may be integrated with inlet turning vanes, exhaust frame struts, exit guide vanes, associated support structures, and other components of the exhaust diffuser. In addition, the heat exchanger elements may be integrated with multiple components of a single exhaust diffuser. Moreover, the heat exchanger elements may be integrated with the components of the exhaust diffuser within an airfoil, which may encompass both the heat exchanger elements and the individual component of the exhaust diffuser. The use of airfoils may help ensure certain aerodynamic properties of the heated exhaust gas flowing across the exhaust diffuser components.

  • Patent number: 8146957
Abstract: In certain embodiments, a PCA connector has a polyethylene body, wherein the polyethylene is durable, corrosion resistant, and exhibits excellent strength over a large range of temperature and moisture conditions. The polyethylene body may be described as a single structure with integral features, such as a bearing portion, a latch housing portion, a latch guide portion, and so forth. Thus, the number of parts is significantly reduced by the one-piece design of the body. In addition, the PCA connector may include a latching mechanism configured to secure the PCA connector to an aircraft. For example, the latching mechanism may include a pair of levers, which engage a pair of latches on opposite sides of the polyethylene body. In some embodiments, the levers may be rotated in opposite directions relative to one another to impart movement of the latches in the same direction, e.g., an axial direction.

  • Patent number: 8151196
Abstract: A technique is provided for configuring and interface device. The interface device includes a plurality of device elements, each having visual representation and a state engine defining a functionality. A server module in the interface device receives a query from a user viewable screen that includes the visual representations. The server module serves the user viewable screen to a general purpose viewer or browser, which may include a design-time environment. An access module, then, prompts each device to send an image defining its visual representation to a memory display context for inclusion in the user viewable screen. The access module works without reference to the respective functionality of the device elements.

  • Patent number: 8141592
Abstract: A system and method of repairing a pipe including securing a reinforcing material, such as a dry fiber structure (e.g., a carbon fibers) to the surface of the pipe. A polymeric material is placed on top of the reinforcing material, self-penetrating the dry fiber structure. The polymeric material substantially saturates the reinforcing material and cures to form a reinforced polymeric composite which may increase or restore the pressure rating or operating pressure capacity of the pipe. Optionally, an outer containment component, such as a sleeve, shell, box, wall, outer pipe, and so on, may be installed around the reinforcing material prior to introduction of the polymeric material. In this case, the polymeric material may be placed (i.e., poured) into the interior of the containment component on top of the reinforcing material.
