Abstract: The techniques disclosed provide a treatment method for passivating the interior surface of a polymerization reactor to minimize the formation of a polymer coating on the surface. The passivation is performed using a passivating agent that reacts with adsorbed water to form labile passivation products. Both the passivating agent and passivation products may be easily removed from the reactor prior to polymerization. Other embodiments provide a reactor system with a tank configured to automatically add a passivating agent to the reactor and processes for making polymers using a treated reactor.
Abstract: Techniques for reducing gate induced drain leakage (GIDL) in memory devices utilizing negative wordline architectures. More specifically, a method and apparatus are provided to determine whether any of the word lines in a section of a memory array are active. If any one of the plurality of word lines is active, each of the inactive word lines in the section are coupled to a negative voltage level. If none of the plurality of word lines is active, each of the plurality of word lines is coupled to ground to reduce GIDL.

Abstract: There is provided a system and method for fabricating a fin field effect transistor. More specifically, in one embodiment, there is provided a method comprising depositing a layer of nitride on a substrate, applying a photolithographic mask on the layer of nitride to define a location of a wall, etching the layer of nitride to create the wall, removing the photolithographic mask, depositing a spacer layer adjacent to the wall, etching the spacer layer to create a spacer adjacent to the wall, wherein the spacer and the wall cover a first portion of the substrate, and etching a second portion of the substrate not covered by the spacer to create a trench.
Abstract: A remote drain and filter arrangement for a portable engine-driven generator is disclosed that positions the oil filter and oil drain at a location outside the enclosure of the generator. The arrangement generally consists of an oil filter assembly and oil drain assembly. The oil filter assembly includes an oil filter adapter used to interface with the oil filter and is coupled to the engine via oil conduits. The oil drain assembly includes an oil drain conduit and a flow control device that allows the oil to be drained from a location outside of the enclosure of the generator. A pump can be used to allow for sufficiently longer oil conduits. The invention is retrofittable to current engine-driven generators and can also be incorporated into future designs.
Abstract: A seal assembly capable of low temperature service is disclosed. It features upper and lower metallic backup rings that are specially shaped to act as a spring to keep the sidewalls of such rings in contact with the inside and outside surfaces to be sealed to prevent extrusion of the seal material even in low temperature situations. Inner and outer grooves are provided. O-ring seals, used for the ID of the seal, are manufactured to have a slightly greater diameter than the groove into which they will be installed. The greater length provides stored energy to promote sealing functionality in cold temperature situations. The O-rings used for the OD of the seal are manufactured to have a slightly smaller diameter than the groove into which they will be installed. The shorter length provides stored energy to promote sealing functionality in cold temperature situations.
Abstract: A method is provided for conducting electricity and thermal energy in an imaging system. The method includes providing a conductive path between a plurality of components and a support structure of the imaging system, in which the support structure comprises a material consisting essentially of conductive elements disposed in a non-conductive material matrix. An imaging system is provided, with a support structure of a conductive elements disposed in a non-conductive material matrix, a plurality of components coupled to the support structure, an imaging panel disposed in the housing, and a conductive path extending through the non-conductive exterior to engage the conductive elements, wherein the conductive path is configured to conduct heat, electricity, or a combination thereof, with one or more components of the imaging system.
Abstract: Disclosed are methods, systems and devices, including a device having a fin field-effect transistor with a first terminal, a second terminal, and two gates. In some embodiments, the device includes a local data line connected to the first terminal, at least a portion of a capacitor plate connected to the second terminal, and a global data line connected to the local data line by the capacitor plate.
Abstract: An olefin polymerization process and apparatus wherein a fluid slurry comprising monomer, diluent and catalyst is circulated in a continuous loop reactor by two or more pumps. The process and apparatus allow operating the reaction at significantly higher solids content in the circulating fluid slurry. In a preferred embodiment, the fluid slurry is circulated by two impellers arranged so that the downstream impeller benefits from the rotational energy imparted by the upstream impeller. An olefin polymerization process operating at higher reactor solids by virtue of more aggressive circulation has improved efficiencies, particularly in larger-volume reactors.

Abstract: A sensor assembly is provided that includes a skeletal frame comprising first and second portions configured to move relative to one another. The torch includes a wire feed assembly and is connectable to a welding-type power source and a source of shielding gas. Abstract: The disclosed embodiments relate to a method and system for regeneration of a catalyst. The system includes an engine that creates an exhaust stream and a fuel supply adapted to supply a fuel stream to the engine. A reactor includes a catalyst and is in fluid communication with the engine to receive the exhaust stream. A sensor senses a system parameter and produces a signal corresponding to the system parameter. A controller receives the signal and directs at least a portion of the exhaust stream or at least a portion of the fuel stream to the catalyst to control a regeneration operation based on a value of the system parameter sensed by the sensor.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for improved efficiency in optical fiber lasers. The system increases the efficiency of cladding pumped optical fiber amplifiers through a seeding technique which includes pumping an erbium/ytterbium doped fiber amplifier with pump energy, directing an optical signal through the erbium/ytterbium doped fiber amplifier, and seeding the optical signal with seed energy. The seed energy may have a higher energy level than the optical signal and a lower energy level than the pump energy, and the seed energy may be initially amplified in the amplifier and subsequently attenuated while amplifying the optical signal in the amplifier.
Abstract: A technique for establishing texture metrics and bone mineral density (BMD) within an anatomical region of interest. A digital imaging system is used to acquire a standard digital X-ray image with a wide field of view. The standard digital X-ray image is used to guide the imaging system to obtain an image of a region of interest. The standard digital X-ray image is used to calculate various texture metrics, such as a length of a fracture. A dual-energy digital X-ray image of the region of interest is acquired. The dual-energy digital X-ray image is corrected for scatter. The BMD of the region of interest may be established from the scatter-corrected dual-energy digital X-ray image. The BMD, the texture metrics, and/or the scatter-corrected dual-energy X-ray image may be displayed on the standard digital X-ray image.

Abstract: An electrical machine includes a stator and a rotor. The stator has a central opening that is configured to receive the rotor. The rotor includes a generally cylindrical first section comprising a first material mounted on an axially extending shaft within the central opening. The rotor further includes a second section having a second material of a predetermined thickness that is plated integrally over at least a portion of the first section. The second material has a higher electrical conductivity relative to the first material. In certain embodiments, the electrical machine may include a stator support structure having a clamping member comprising a first material and configured to rigidly position the stator around the rotor. The stator support structure further includes an electrically conductive layer comprising a second material plated integrally over the clamping structure, wherein the second material has a higher electrical conductivity relative to the first material.

Abstract: A non-invasive optical sensor which uses the motion signal to calculate the physiological characteristic being measured. For pulse oximetry, a least squares or a ratio-of-ratios technique can be applied to the motion signal itself. This is made possible by selecting a site on the patient where variations in motion produce signals of two wavelengths which are sufficiently correlated. In particular, it has been determined that a sensor placed on a nail, in particular a thumbnail, exhibits the characteristics of having the red and infrared signals correlated when used for pulse oximetry, and the resulting signals correlate to arterial oxygen saturation.
