Abstract: An apparatus and method used to charge a self powered gate driver system. The apparatus may include a current loop for inducing a current in a coil. A bridge rectifier may rectify the current induced in the coil and charge a capacitor used to power a driver in a self powered gate driver system. The current loop and coil may be separated by a dielectric to prevent current from passing between the self powered gate driver system and the current loop. The current loop may couple to a line voltage transformer to drive an alternating current through the current loop. In certain embodiments, a single current loop and transformer may charge a plurality of self powered gate driver systems.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for cooling exhaust from a power center, such as in the event of an arc fault. In one embodiment, a system is provided that includes a power center having an enclosure, an exhaust duct coupled to the enclosure, and a phase change material disposed in the enclosure, the exhaust duct, or both, wherein the phase change material is configured to rapidly cool exhaust in response to a high temperature in the enclosure. A method is provided that includes cooling an exhaust at a high temperature from a power center by changing phase of a phase change material from a solid to a vapor. Another method is provided that includes providing a phase change material configured to cool an exhaust at a high temperature from a power center by changing phase from a solid to a vapor.

The method may include disposing a contact tip between a first and a second member and capturing the contact tip between the first and second members.
Abstract: A technique is provided for controlling an operator in a circuit such as a relay circuit. The operator may be a coil in an electromagnetic relay. The coil is energized only when current through a leakage current suppression circuit is sufficient to exceed a predetermined threshold. The leakage current suppression circuit is operative to prevent energization of the operator, or to deenergize the operator, when the current is below the threshold, within a range anticipated for leakage current through the circuit.

Abstract: Film-based images can be scanned in a conventional manner, then digitally designated and “cut” from the digital file resulting from the scan. These selected images can then be collated and registered as individual images, or slices in certain contexts, allowing them to be assembled in various presentations, such as in stack mode with digitally-acquired images. The resulting collated files can then be stored by the user as a new series of images. The technique thus greatly facilitates the access and comparison of the images regardless of the originating medium.

Abstract: A power delivery system for parked aircraft includes protective rings on the power cords. These protective rings protect the power cord jackets from wear and facilitate movement of the power cords across the ground. The rings may be configured for securement to the cable so as to compress the insulative jacket of the cable somewhat, thereby firmly maintaining the rings in place on the cable. The rings may be formed of two identical elements that are joined to envelope the cable. The rings may accommodate both round insulated cable, as well as bundled cable.

Abstract: A sensor is provided that includes a flexible wrap enclosure which is folded about the sensor. The flexible wrap includes primary flaps and at least one reinforcement flap. The reinforcement flap may be used to enclose areas of the sensor not enclosed by the primary wrap and/or may be used to provide reinforcement of the enclosure to prevent tearing of the flexible wrap enclosure. The sensor may be placed on a patient's finger, toe, ear, and so forth to obtain pulse oximetry or other physiological measurements.
Abstract: A system and method for delivering a slurry having a fracturing fluid and one or more proppants to a fracture in a subterranean formation. At least one proppant has PPS and produces less than 5 weight percent fines at a closure pressure of the fractured subterranean formation as determined by API RP 60. The one or more proppants are deposited into the fracture to prop the fracture.
Abstract: A method of making a rare earth halide single crystal material is provided. The method includes providing a polycrystalline material having a plurality of grains. The method further includes adding a seed crystal to the polycrystalline material to define a plane of growth for the polycrystalline material. Further, the polycrystalline material having the seed crystal may be subjected to heat-treating, where the heat-treating does not include melting the polycrystalline material.
Abstract: A system and method is provided for atomizing a liquid without the use of air to atomize the liquid. The system comprises a turbo spray nozzle that has a rotatable shaft. The rotatable shaft has a center bore with an opening at one end to enable a liquid to flow into the center bore of the rotatable shaft. The rotatable shaft also has a plurality of orifices that extend from the center bore to an outer surface of the rotatable shaft at the end opposite the opening. The rotatable shaft is rotated by pressurized air. The rotation of the shaft causes the liquid flowing into the center bore to be induced into a helical flow path that causes the liquid to disassociate. The system may comprise a spray gun coupled to the turbo spray nozzle. The system may also comprise an air compressor to provide the pressurized air to rotate the rotatable shaft. The system may also comprise a container for the liquid hat may be pressurized to provide a motive force to the liquid.
Abstract: A throttling valve assembly has an outer housing that is sealed. An actuator is connected to a pressure balanced shaft that extends into the housing to operate a plurality of linkages that can rotate blades in tandem. With the surrounding housing sealed, the shaft penetrations of the blade support shafts no longer need seals or a purge system to supply process gas during times of reduced pressure in situations with the blades nearly closed. A pressure equalization system has balance passages internal to the housing to allow flow from higher pressure zones to lower pressure zone of the process gas so as to avoid creation of a condition that can draw air into any zones of reduced pressure in the housing.
Abstract: Embodiments relate to collimator assemblies having one or more apertures therein. At least one of the one or more apertures has an aperture size that is configured for adjustment during an examination. The collimator assembly is configured so that gamma rays can pass through the one or more apertures, but the remainder of the collimator assembly is substantially gamma ray absorbent. Embodiments also related to imaging systems and methods of imaging.

Abstract: The present technique relates to the distribution of power and data signals throughout a networked system. For example, three-phase power may be conducted to a device over a set of conductors. One of the conductors, however, may be configured to conduct, in conjunction with a neutral conductor, both one phase of three-phase power as well as data signals in accordance with a predetermined data communications protocol. As an alternate example, the present technique may comprise a set of a first power conductors configured to conduct three-phase power and a secondary power conductor which works in conjunction with an auxiliary conductor to conduct power and data signals. Additionally, the present technique provides for the maintenance data communications and a level of power upon the interruption of three-phase power to a particular component or device.

Abstract: Annular, linear, and point contact structures are described which exhibit a greatly reduced susceptibility to process deviations caused by lithographic and deposition variations than does a conventional circular contact plug. In one embodiment, a standard conductive material such as carbon or titanium nitride is used to form the contact. In an alternative embodiment, a memory material itself is used to form the contact. These contact structures may be made by various processes, including chemical mechanical planarization and facet etching.
