  • Patent number: 4154226
Abstract: An implantate comprising an essentially annular permanent magnet which is axially magnetized is located in the vicinity of an orifice from an intestine, surrounding the intestine. A plug element having a core of magnetic material and an outer casing is inserted into the intestinal orifice. The casing is essentially cylindrical and is made of a material which is radially compressible, and inserted in the orifice, the magnetic material within the core thereof -- which is preferably removable -- in cooperation with the magnetic field from the permanent magnet locating the plug element within the orifice to establish an axial equilibrium position and hold the plug element in position closing the orifice.

  • Patent number: 4155075
Abstract: A central station is connected to a ring bus system to which a number of separately addressable loads are connected through specific load receivers. The central station has a switching system by operation of selected switches of which, specific loads can be addressed. The ring bus system has a power line or bus, a clock line or bus, and a control line or bus. The clock line provides clock pulses during a selection cycle, and upon coincidence of a clock pulse with a pulse on the control bus, a specific load associated with a predetermined numbered pulse on the clock line can be addressed by sensing coincidence of the pulse on the control line and on the clock line. To separate selection cycles, a control signal is transmitted which may form a pause of clock pulses on the clock line. This control signal, in accordance with the invention, is represented by a series of pulses transmitted on a line other than the clock line, for example on the control bus.

  • Patent number: 4153844
Abstract: An electron beam is monochromatized, brought to an appropriate energy lev by acceleration or slowing down, and focussed on a monocrystal electron scattering surface. Backscattered electrons are measured at complementary scattering angles, but only after slow electrons are separated or trapped that result from inelastic interaction with the crystal. The response of the detectors of a pair, in pulse count or current flow, allows the degree of spin polarization P to be calculated byP=f.times.(I.sub.1 -I.sub.2)/I.sub.1 +I.sub.2).

  • Patent number: 4153203
Abstract: A trigger type sprayer which comprises a sprayer body whose inner lateral walls are provided with a pair of mutually facing engagement grooves, and wherein a trigger of the sprayer has a notch cut out in the upper end portion of the front wall and a pair of lugs formed on the outside of the upper end portions of the lateral walls. A nozzle fixed to the sprayer body extends outward through the notched portion of the trigger, and has a pair of axially extending stoppers integrally formed on the outer surface of the nozzle. The trigger can be rotatably connected to the sprayer body with ease due to the paired lugs being snap-fitted to the engagement grooves of the sprayer body and the upper end portions of the lateral walls of the trigger are prevented from being thrown inward by the stoppers of the nozzle and in consequence coming off the sprayer body.

  • Patent number: 4153031
Abstract: The voltage in the secondary of an ignition coil is prevented from reaching an amplitude at which a spark might be created by a Zener diode connected in parallel with the series transistor acting as a switch which interrupts the current through the primary winding of the coil. Upon breakdown of the Zener diode, the series transistor is switched to the conductive state briefly, thereby preventing further voltage build-up in the secondary. When the engine is in operation, a transistor which forms part of a voltage divider is switched to the conductive state, connecting the voltage divider between the secondary winding and the Zener diode. The voltage divider is so dimensioned that the Zener diode will respond to a voltage slightly less than the breakdown voltage of the emitter-collector circuit of the series transistor, but higher than the voltage required for creating a spark.

  • Patent number: 4151816
Abstract: In order to provide a controlled turbulence or angular momentum of air, air and fuel mixtures or similar fluids to be injected into the cylinder chamber of valve controlled internal combustion engines, control vanes are provided in close proximity to the valve retaining ring. The vanes deflect the flow of the air or air/fuel mixture without restricting the flow thus increasing the fuel flow coefficient. The vanes are curved to accommodate the fluid in-flow while ensuring controlled turbulence or angular momentum of the fluid in the cylinder chamber. The vanes can be arranged on a ring which is fastened in the inlet chamber in close proximity to the valve retaining ring.

  • Patent number: 4152409
Abstract: A method of carrying out air oxidation comprises substantially continuously feeding liquid and air to an oxidizing tank (A) via a bubble forming device (D) which is fixed at the bottom of the tank, feeding a part of the liquid out of the tank via a lower port to a gas-liquid separating device (B) and then returning the liquid free from gas from the separating device to the oxidizing tank via the bubble forming device. Air separated from the liquid in the separating device is returned to the oxidizing tank and the finished solution is overflowed out from an upper portion of the oxidizing tank. The bubble forming device operates by feeding air into the lower chamber thereof via a nozzle which is aligned with and directed toward an orifice in a partition which divides the bubble forming device into two chambers. The liquid is fed into the lower chamber and the liquid and air are fed as a mixture through the orifice to impinge an upper wall of the upper chamber of the bubble forming device to more fully mix same.

  • Patent number: 4150773
Abstract: To decrease forces acting on the edge of magnetic tape, typically wide tape (25.4 mm-1"), and thus prevent damage to the edge, the surface of deflection guide rollers is formed to be resilient and permitting axial deflection, but returning to the nominal radial position when not deflected or deformed by axial forces applied thereto by the magnetic tape. The surface may be formed by bristles extending radially, ring-shaped foam strips, ball bearing-supported rings in which the bearings have slight axial play, or resiliently deflectable sheet metal rings, the axial restoring forces of ball bearing-supported rings being provided by centrifugal forces tending to align the bearing in a plane exactly transversely to the axis of rotation. The forces then acting between the magnetic tape and diametrically projecting guide flanges are reduced since slight axial deflection, in the order of about 0.001 mm, in permitted.

  • Patent number: 4151451
Abstract: An analog of a path through which a cross slide table, for example carrying a workpiece or a tool is to be moved is traced on a drawing sheet. At points of change of direction or commanded speed of movement, graphic machine-readable symbols are placed on the drawing. A sensor, with sensing elements located in the quadrants of an x-y coordinate system, preferably secured to the cross slide itself, is placed above the graphic drawn representation of the movement path, the graphic representation is introduced by means of a program carrier beneath the cross slide and, upon recognition of symbols representing change of direction, speed of movement, suitable signals are derived which control servo motors moving the cross slide and the sensor in accordance with the sensed signals picked up by the sensor from the graphic representation of the movement immediately beneath the cross slide table itself, thus avoiding the necessity of numerical or other programmed input to the cross slide.

  • Patent number: 4149399
Abstract: In a method of forming tubes or pipes from a flat blank of a plastically deformable material, three spaced apart portions of the blank are first bent to the wanted curvature of the finished tube or pipe, so that two smaller unbent portions are obtained between the curved portions. Then, the blank is closed to essentially tubular form by means of forces acting on the curved portions, so that the principal deformation in connection with the closing is obtained in the unbent portions located between the curved portions.
