  • Patent number: 4138866
Abstract: To permit, selectively, positive feed or demand feed of yarn or thread to a utilization position of a textile machine, a rotating drum has a storage winding place thereon. A thread guide element is located laterally next to but below lower edge structure of the thread supply drum to permit drawing-off of yarn on the positive feed condition and preventing reverse winding of thread or yarn on the drum; additionally, a pull-off element is located either fixed, or rotatably about the axis of rotation of the drum in a plane which includes the axis of rotation of the drum below the bottom edge structure so that the thread or yarn can be selectively guided in a path inclined downwardly inclined exteriorally through the thread guide element 19 over the edge of the thread supply drum on in a different thread path over the pull-off element and then through the thread guide element.

  • Patent number: 4139867
Abstract: In order to provide fast- and slow-motion reproduction of video signals a tape is played back at a different velocity, at which the scan traces provide acceptable signals for only a portion of each track at a time, the acceptably picked-up picture lines of these track portions are temporarily stored (others being excluded) and then played back under conditions satisfying television reception standards, in an order determined by an address made up of the line number and a track and field identification provided in response to track and field beginning pulses recorded on the tape. The address can be recorded together with the video signals or can be generated by counting means during the reproduction of the video signals. The tape transport speed is automatically adjusted slightly, if necessary, with respect to the speed setting, to avoid duplicate storage of corresponding lines in successive fields at the expense of omission of other lines.

  • Patent number: 4139883
Abstract: A pivot support element is fixed in position to extend essentially vertically, and carries a horizontally projecting pivot pin. The movable pivotable member on which the weight is suspended is pivoted and connected to the pin by means of a plate-like pivot rod secured laterally to the pivotable member, so that the pivot pin will form the pivot axis for the plate-like element. The pivot pin additionally has fixedly attached thereto a link element, such as a short plate-like member to which a balance rod is pivotally attached which is connected with an intervening spring, typically a compression spring, to the weight-supporting member. Two plate-like pivot rods may be used, one on either side of the support member to provide for balanced attachment. The entire assembly is readily encapsulated in shell-like housing halves, to be essentially dust and contamination-proof, with minimum handling in assembly, or for cleaning and maintenance.

  • Patent number: 4138604
Abstract: To provide low contact resistance, long life, and resistance against tarnishing under corrosive, particularly sulfur atmospheres, a substrate carrier has a layer of palladium applied thereto, of a thickness between 0.5 and 5 .mu.m, preferably between 1 and 3 .mu.m, to which a coating of gold is applied which is porous and has a thickness of only between 0.05 .mu.m and 0.1 .mu.m; the porous gold coating forms islands of gold on the palladium which, in use and as the terminal is wiped against a counter element, smears over the palladium, thus effectively covering the palladium, preventing tarnishing, and maintaining low contact resistance throughout the useful life of the terminal element.

  • Patent number: 4138689
Abstract: A photographic tray having inwardly turned upper edges, ribs along the lower surface thereof for making the tray more rigid and upwardly sloping bottom surface portions on which the tray may be rocked to agitate a liquid located therein is fabricated as a single, unitary structure by blow molding techniques. The tray is also provided with a pouring spout and with a specially designed molded-in portion for resting a thermometer in the tray so that it will not be dislodged or otherwise inadvertently moved. The tray is fabricated as a closed container by blow molding, and a major surface is then cut off, for example, by sawing, routing, or any other suitable method to arrive at the resultant tray.

  • Patent number: 4136853
Abstract: A slide valve comprising a housing in which a slide is movably guided between two oppositely facing, flat contact surfaces. Communication between fluid passages in the housing is accomplished by hollow formed passage means on the slide. Seal rings carried in grooves in the slide maintain sealing contact between the slide and the contact surfaces of the housing and seal off the fluid passages relative to each other. Each seal ring consists of a band-shaped contact member and a resilient support member. The support member is arranged to bias the contact member against the contact surface by a force uniformly distributed over the entire length of the contact member.

  • Patent number: 4137060
Abstract: The jacket of a cored light guide is completely or partially etched away; or, if the light guide is a gradient fiber guide, it is etched to about the light guiding diameter. A lens is then adhered to the end of the fiber, the lens being made of a material having a melting point which is low in relation to the melting point of the core material, to result in a light guide having an essentially semispherical lens at the end; adhesion may be effected by melting on a lens of lower melting point glass, or by making the lens of transparent epoxy, a drop of which can be cured on the light guide to form the lens.

  • Patent number: 4136837
Abstract: A freely rotatable yarn feeding drum has a plurality of yarn loops wound thereon to form a storage winding. To both drive the drum and axially sheave the yarn forming the storage windings along the length of the drum, a drive wheel, or drive belt is engaged with the circumference of the drum in the region of the storage windings. The drive means thereby directly engages the yarn and the drum and, preferably, the axis of rotation of the drum is so set that it forms an acute angle with the axis of rotation of the drive means to provide an axial frictional component between the drive means, typically a drive belt, and the windings on the drum so that the windings are fed axially.
