  • Patent number: 4792142
Abstract: An improved thermal target is disclosed which is characterized by its increased ability to take multiple hits with a dramatic reduction of the likelihood of failure due to short circuiting the electrical feed to the resistance heating elements. An improved heating element construction is provided by a pair of spaced, parallel disposed planar electrical busses having a resistance core element disposed in conducting relationship to the planar busses. The core can be designed to provide predetermined thermalized areas simulating a given thermal image, which areas are in constant electrical engagement with the planar buss so that a hit by a projectile will not likely interrupt the electrical current fed to the remaining thermalized area.

  • Patent number: 4738621
Abstract: A hand held abrasive dental instrument for use in cutting the proximal aspect of a tooth's surface to create an interproximal space between abutting tooth surfaces. The instrument features a thin circular disc shaped abrasive cutting member provided with a coating of abrasive material over one of the circular surfaces of the disc which is rotatably mounted between abutting handle portions. The handle portions serve to provide means for convenient grasping of the instrument by the user in a manner which permits facile manipulation of the cutting disc between abutting teeth. The handle portions are constructed to automatically lock the disc against rotation when grasped in the normal operational mode so that effective cutting can be accomplished. However, upon releasing the grasping pressure, the disc may be rotated to position an unused portion of the abrasive coating for operative use.

  • Patent number: 4737385
Abstract: A new method and formulation for treating metal parts for corrosion resistance is disclosed wherein both a paint coat and an oil coating formulation are simultaneously applied in a single step to the parts after the parts have been conventionally phosphated. The novel formulation disclosed is a di-phase composition wherein a distinct paint phase and an oil phase are present. The formulation is applied to the parts only when the two phases have been intimately dispersed to form a temporary suspension. Upon drying, the treated part is provided with a paint undercoat covered by an oil coating and exhibits significantly improved corrosion resistance as measured by standard salt spray corrosion tests.
