  • Patent number: 6860442
Abstract: A locking preset mechanism for a fishing reel is provided by interlocking balls in the preset knob face and the depressions in the mating face of an axially moveable force transmitting means in the mechanism. In free spool, the knob can be rotated. In drag, the knob is locked against rotation.

  • Patent number: 6851988
Abstract: In a battery post burning apparatus, the majority of the heat is supplied to the lead via the mold in which the finished post is being formed. The mold material in contact with the lead has a low thermal mass and high electrical and thermal resistance. The mold material may be Meehanite cast iron. Another material, such as titanium, may be used. If so, it is preferable to coat it with silver solder and provide a copper insert, where the electrical and thermal connection is being made. In another embodiment, a magnetic field is provided to break up any oxide coatings on the mold surfaces.

  • Patent number: 6830208
Abstract: A fishing reel has high speed and low speed gears that are indexed to one another. They are free to rotate relative to one another on a gear shaft, but cannot move axially relative to one another. This gear set can be translated along the gear shaft, into engagement with two separate drive means; one for the low speed gear and one for the high-speed gear.

  • Patent number: 6827306
Abstract: A locking preset mechanism for a fishing reel is provided by interlocking in the preset knob with a bridge plate. Spring-biased pins engage depressions in the mating face of an axially moveable means in the mechanism. By depressing the knob, the knob can be rotated. When at rest, the knob is locked against rotation.

  • Patent number: 6766685
Abstract: A force detecting load cell, which is designed to be a direct replacement for existing anchor pins, is used as the load-bearing member and measuring and diagnostic device in brake systems. The working dimensions of the cell and the parts replaced are the same, except that the cell has short zones of decreased diameter so that strains are concentrated in these zones. Electrical strain gages are positioned within these zones with connections to exterior measuring and monitoring instrumentation. The arrangement and orientation of the gages in the concentrating zones permit measurement of the applied brake loads both as to magnitude and direction, which the vehicle having the brake system is being operated and moving, i.e., being driven.

  • Patent number: 6557583
Abstract: A damper assembly in which the position of the damper blades is controlled by an electric powered actuator. The powered actuator rotates a threaded lead screw shaft attached to an operator means attached to the damper blades of the damper, which causes the damper blades to open and close or be positioned somewhere in-between. The actuator can be controlled by sensors in a remote location. The actuator allows the damper to be modulated to set up pressure differentials and to be closed well in advance of oncoming smoke, fire, or other detected toxic fumes. There are a variety of nuts and gear arrangements coacting with the lead screw to drive the operator.

  • Patent number: 6402073
Abstract: A position is added to the drag lever travel in a lever drag reel; which position is called the “strip” drag position; and which is positioned just above the free spool position. At this position, an additional detent is added, splitting the original steep cam rise into two sections to provide a light drag setting before achieving free spool; thus preventing the operator from accidentally placing the drag lever into a free spool condition.
