Abstract: A livestock free stall is provided, having a pair of vertically oriented posts held in fixed spaced relationship. Each of the posts has attached thereto in parallel spaced relationship upper and lower receiver tubes or posts with the receiver tubes or posts of each stanchion oriented in parallel spaced relationship to the corresponding upper and lower receiver tubes or posts of the other stanchions. A pair of rail loops, each having upper and lower ends, are then configured and sized for insertion into the upper and lower receiver tubes, or for receiving the upper and lower receiver posts, is then attached and fastened to the stanchion. A top rail interconnects the posts to form the completed free stall assembly.

  • Patent number: 6243401
Abstract: This invention demonstrates the methods that use semiconductor laser amplifier (SLA) as a wavelength discriminator, as well as several apparatus designed using these methods. The functions of the invented apparatus include wavelength measurement, wavelength tracking, wavelength comparison, and wavelength stabilization and control of lasers. The key concept for which these methods and apparatus work is the variation of the transparent current of a SLA with the wavelength of an incident light. The transparent current of a SLA can be easily detected from the induced voltage across the diode junction when the incident light is intensity-modulated. The incident wavelength can be accurately determined by measuring the transparent current. These methods and apparatus are expected to be very useful in wavelength display for photonic instruments, wavelength control and wavelength registration for photonic networks, and wavelength stabilization for laser diodes.

  • Patent number: 6216993
Abstract: A modular storage system which includes a support rail mounted on wall or ceiling, in horizontal or vertical orientation, with slidably adjustable cantilevered hooks, from which are hung storage boxes fitted with a frame on the open side, and a transparent hinged door. A hanger and straps are utilized to attach the rigid frame to a storage box. Reinforcing support brackets can also be attached to a storage box on its underside or top, and suspended from cantilevered hooks of the modular storage system.

  • Patent number: 6205620
Abstract: A method of producing apparatus for use in fiber processing, and in particular blades for pre-carding flats in a cotton card. The method comprises the steps of providing a body (32) defining a multiplicity of bores (34) extending between rear and front faces thereof, providing a multiplicity of pointed pins (44) of corresponding diameter to the bores, locating the pins (44) in the bores (34) from the rear of the body such that the points extend from the front of the body, and fixing the pins in the body.

  • Patent number: 6203049
Abstract: A terrain following hitch which mounts on a tractor draw bar by a pin, and which allows an implement being towed to move in three planes, independent of the tractor. The hitch includes three hinges, and a draw bar attachment tube which fits over the draw bar of a tractor, and transmits force to the walls of the draw bar, instead of into the pin and pin holes. The hitch reduces wear on implements and hitch connections.

  • Patent number: 6199576
Abstract: The invention is a bi-directional cleanout for pipelines such as sewer pipelines and a bi-directional cleanout with a built in backflow preventer. The backflow preventer is a check valve which allows fluid to flow in one direction, but not in the other direction. The bi-directional cleanout is a device which has a single access point at ground level, is located outside a house typically, and which directs a cleanout tool down one of two tool guide tubes. The guide tubes direct the cleanout tool into one of two tool guides which deflect the cleanout tool and cause it to enter the pipeline to be cleaned in a direction towards one or the other of the ends. The check valve is insertable into the pipe level unit in which the tool guides are located. While the pipeline is being cleaned out with the cleanout tool, the check valve can be removed and reinserted after the cleanout procedure is completed.

  • Patent number: 6194904
Abstract: A socket test probe and a method of making the probe which results in a probe head which has flat plates which serve as electrodes encased in resin. The electrodes are conductive plates with one or more edges of the conductive plates exposed for connection to the electrodes of a socket. The entire probe head starts as a solid block of conductive material which is drilled, machined, filled with resin and machined again to form a socket testing probe utilizing the edges of conductive plates as electrodes.

  • Patent number: 6145495
Abstract: A supplemental fuel regulator for diesel engines, and a system for adding supplemental fuel to diesel engines is provided. The fuel regulator has two chambers, one which receives fuel from the fuel tank through a fuel inlet valve, which also reduces the pressure of the fuel. The fuel at much reduced pressure is passed to a second chamber through a fuel control valve. Fuel is drawn from the second chamber into an outlet duct, directly into the airflow duct of the diesel engine. A vacuum line from the engine pulls fuel from the second chamber. As engine demand increases, the engine vacuum increases, and additional fuel is supplied by the regulator. A solenoid switch provides control over the system, which can be activated by a user when the supplemental fuel system is deemed desirable. The solenoid switch can be configured to shut off the supplemental fuel system whenever the diesel engine is shut off.
