  • Patent number: 7470223
Abstract: An exercise apparatus provides variable resistance and includes a high drag fan which includes a plurality of fan blades radially mounted on an axle. A multi-ratio pulley system is operably mounted to the axle with the differing ratios providing variable resistance. A cord is wound on a cord reel which is operably engaged with the multi-ratio pulley system. Thus, pulling the cord turns the cord reel which then rotates the multi-ratio pulley system and the high drag fan via the axle. The distal end of the cord opposing the cord reel has an apparatus attachment point.

  • Patent number: 7309081
Abstract: An off road vehicle comprises a front frame joined to a rear frame by a swivel rotates about a longitudinal axis. Springs are mounted to a horizontal planar structure and to the rear frame. The springs maintain the front frame to rear frame alignment but allows rotation between the front frame and the rear frame. A steering column extends upwardly and forwardly from a front axle having two wheels mounted laterally therefrom. The is connected to the two front wheels to turn in a desired direction. Front springs connect the axle to the steering column. A pair of shock absorbers connect the axle proximate to the wheels and the steering column. The pair of front springs and the pair of shock absorbers, in combination, maintain the front frame alignment to the axle but allow rotation between the front frame and the axle.

  • Patent number: 7221273
Abstract: An improved storage system includes a plurality of individual storage units enclosed in a secured perimeter with security gates for entry and exit. Each individual storage unit has a door, an alarm and a locking mechanism. Each door has a sensor which senses whether that door is open or closed. Each locking mechanism has a sensor which senses whether that locking mechanism is locked or unlocked. The sensors are in electrical communication with a computer. Each locking mechanism has a motor for moving between locked and unlocked, the motor controlled by the computer. Access control units are located near the security gates in electrical communication with the computer. The computer device reviews information from the access control unit and opens and closes the security gate, locks and unlocks the locking mechanisms, turns on and off the alarms, and determines the open and closed status of each door in response to the information.

  • Patent number: 7219560
Abstract: A method of correcting for overspin in a turbine meter is provided. The turbine meter has turbine rotors positioned in a pipe in which liquid passes therethrough. The turbine rotors rotate in response to movement of the liquid passing through the pipe and sensors mounted proximate thereto count each passage of a rotor by providing an electronic pulse to a microprocessor. The microprocessor calculates the frequency of the electronic pulses which is directly proportional to the total quantity of liquid passing therethrough. If the microprocessor detects a rapid decrease in the frequency of the electronic pulses from the one or more sensors, it begins storing the frequency data therein. The microprocessor determines whether the decrease is due to a total shut off of liquid flowing or to a slow down of said flow. If a slowdown, the stored frequencies are used to compute the total quantity flowing through said pipe. If a shut down, the stored frequencies are deleted and not used to calculate total frequency.

  • Patent number: 7218998
Abstract: An intelligent demand controller protects the local customer premises supply transformer from overload and senses conditions on the transformer. The intelligent demand control system utilizes a communications network with a plurality of load control units having a unique address and residing at a plurality of customer premises. A demand controller monitors the voltages and frequency of electricity provided to the customer premises as well as the instantaneous current required by the operating loads of the customer premises. Each of the plurality of demand controllers may be associated with one or more of a plurality of load control units and configured to receive data related to the state of the power supplied to the plurality of controlled loads and generate a transmit message using a predefined communication protocol. When certain programmable conditions are met, a load control unit is signaled to remove power from one or more of its monitored loads.
