Abstract: A method for the preparation of a polyetherthioether copolymer glycol represented by the formula:H--OC.sub.2 H.sub.4 SC.sub.2 H.sub.4 --.sub.x --OC.sub.4 H.sub.8 --.sub.y OHwherein the mole ratio x/y is in the range of about 45:55 to 60:40, respectively. More specifically, a method for the preparation of a copolymer of thiodiethanol and 1,4-butanediol wherein the mole ratio x/y is about 50:50. Also, the copolymers produced thereby and polyurethane elastomers produced therefrom, particularly those produced from the 50:50 copolymer, and to their use in solid tires having improved dynamic mechanical properties.
Abstract: Vulcanizable compositions comprising a polar, water-soluble backbone polymer having a copolymer of an acrylic acid ester and a curing-site containing comonomer grafted thereon and a method for the production thereof, are disclosed.
Abstract: Use of a vertically disposed compression zone for providing a fusion melt of acrylonitrile polymer and water in conjunction with melt spinning provides reduced bubble count in the resulting fiber.
Abstract: An adhesive composition comprising an aqueous emulsion of polyacrylates sufficiently stabilized in part with a vinyl alcohol polymer, a tackifying resin and a plasticizer is disclosed, which adhesive has utility as a low hazard contact cement for bonding on contact numerous materials to various substrates under a wide range of environmental work conditions.
Abstract: A mixture of (1) a single phase melt of water and a first acrylonitrile polymer containing at least 85% acrylonitrile and (2) a pure melt of a second acrylonitrile polymer containing from about 60-72% acrylonitrile is extruded through the orifices of a spinneret directly into a steam-pressurized solidification zone to provide a biconstituent fiber which is stretched while within the solidification zone.
Abstract: A spinerette assembly wherein tapered passageways and distribution chambers of diminishing length are so arranged as to provide equal back pressure over all orifices thereby providing extrudates of improved uniformity of diameter after stretching.
