Abstract: A method for production of patterned nonwoven fabric from a fibrous web which is subjected to high energy treatment with high velocity water streams not only for fiber entangling but also for patterning of said fibrous web, wherein the fiber entangling treatment is performed on a plurality of non-porous supports arranged in multistaged manner at regular intervals along the path of the fibrous web and the patterning treatment is performed on a separate non-porous support arranged downstream of the previously mentioned non-porous supports and provided on a peripheral surface with a relief pattern.

Abstract: The invention is concerned with a vitreous humor substitute intended for ophthalmological uses and consisting of a gel of crosslinked hyaluronic acid and a method at retinal surgery and after vitrectomy when the vitreous humor completely or partially is exchanged for such a gel.

Abstract: A fuel tank adapted for mounting on the exterior of an aircraft comprising a flexible fuel chamber and a plurality of flexible inflatable tubular ribs attached to the walls of the fuel chamber, with means for introducing and removing liquid from the fuel chamber and with means for inflating and deflating the inflatable ribs.

Abstract: In a control disc valve with at least two control discs, the linear movement of one of the control discs, which is involved with a variation in quantity of the medium to be regulated, is prevented by a special brake. For this purpose the movable control disc itself is inserted in a closed chamber so that it divides the latter into two partial chambers. The latter are connected to each other by way of a displacement path. The closed chamber is filled with a fluid medium of suitable viscosity. If the control disc moves in a linear manner for varying the quantity of the medium passing through, it operates within the closed chamber in the manner of a piston and displaces the fluid medium by way of the displacement path from one partial chamber to the other. Active lubrication of the sliding surfaces of the control discs can be associated with this at the same time. (FIG. 1).

Abstract: Method for applying a coating of allergen on a steel tip of an instrument which is to be employed for in vivo allergy diagnostication and which has stop means adjacent to the steel tip so that solely said tip can penetrate the skin. The characteristic feature of said method is that the steel tip plus those portions of the stop means that lie in the immediate proximity of said tip are acid-pickled and then coated with allergen, to thus cause an active amount of allergen to adhere to said tip.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for transferring single pieces from a stack (16) of limp fabric pieces to a receptor (25) for further processing wherein a drum (10) is brought into pressure contact with the top piece in said stack (16) and a marginal portion of that fabric piece is gripped by the drum (10) via a friction roller (20) carried by the drum. The drum (10) is then rolled over the stack (16) so the top fabric piece to be wrapped about the periphery of the drum (10). The drum (10) is then transported to an operative position above the receptor (20) and rolled thereover to lay the fabric piece flat on the receptor (25).

Abstract: The invention relates to indicator lamps and in particular to such lamps which are required to be clearly visible in high ambient light conditions.In order to overcome the problem of light emitted by the lamp competing with the ambient light reflected from the lamp the invention provides an indicator lamp having a light source contained within a light source support in which substantially all of the surfaces of the light source support surrounding the light source are coated black, except for a portion of the surfaces through which emitted light from the light source passes outwardly to the viewer.In a preferred embodiment the light source is an L.E.D.

Abstract: A dental handpiece assembly comprising a handgrip and a detachable headpiece. The front end of the handgrip includes an arm that extends forward and below the headpiece. The headpiece carries a dental tool and the handgrip supplies cooling water and air through the extended arm to outlets close to the tool. This arrangement has the advantage that the detachable headpiece does nto need to include passageways for the cooling water and cooling air.

Abstract: A method for determining one or more antigens in a sample by immunological reaction between the antigen and antibodies directed specifically against the antigen in the presence of a liquid, said antibodies being bound to the surface of minute particles which are insoluble in the liquid in which the reaction is effected, the reaction leading to an agglutination which indicates the presence of the antigen in the sample. The antibodies are specifically fixed to a polypeptide which is derived from microorganisms and which can bind the Fc-part of the antibodies and the polypeptide is bound to the surface of the minute particles.

Abstract: A flame retardant polyolefin resin composition which, when molded, affords a molded product having highly flame retardant properties, no dripping properties, a smooth surface and an excellent appearance and superior resistances to heavy metal deterioration, heat deterioration and weather is provided, which composition consists of (A) 5-60% by weight of a halogen-containing flame retardant, (B) 100-10% by weight of antimony trioxide based on the weight of the halogen-containing flame retardant, (C) 0.5-15% by weight of a crosslinking agent, (D) 0.05-5% by weight of a specified thiophosphite, and (E) the balance % by weight of a polyolefin resin, the total of the quantities of (A), (B), (C), (D) and (E) being 100% by weight. If necessary, a processing aid may be further added to the above flame retardant polyolefin resin composition.

Abstract: An improved process of performing analysis methods based upon biospecific affinity reactions in heterogeneous systems, wherein a ligand dissolved in a liquid is reacted with a receptor immobilized on a carrier, characterized by utilizing as the carrier a porous matrix in the form of a material body having an open capillary pore system capable of absorbing and retaining liquid phase and having such limited void dimensions that the total reaction rate of the biospecific reaction or reactions within the pore system between ligand and immobilized receptor will be at least substantially independent of the diffusion of the ligand in the liquid phase. A porous matrix for use in said process has the characteristics mentioned above.

Abstract: The invention describes a cutter which is for positioning in an underground pipe which is too small for man entry. The cutter is for cutting holes in previously applied pipe lining which cover lateral connections. The cutting must be controlled from above ground. Flexibility and positionability is achieved by mounting the cutter head at the free end of a boom body, the other end of which is mounted through a universal joint to a mounting so that the boom can swing in any direction. The cutter is controlled in its movement by coupling it to a master unit located and controlled above ground.
