  • Patent number: 8290287
Abstract: A method for displaying encoded image data includes providing data in an encoded form, the data when displayed forming a two-dimensional image. Using a decoding cellular automaton rule and a predetermined secret key, the data is processed through a plurality of iterations to obtain the data in a non-encoded form. A series of images resulting from the processing, and ending in the two-dimensional image, is displayed in time-sequence. The series of images contains information that is insufficient for determining the secret key, given knowledge of each one of the decoding cellular automaton rule, the data in the encoded form and the data in the non-encoded form.

  • Patent number: 8271028
Abstract: A dual band amplifier is provided comprising a first matching circuit disposed in a first radiofrequency path between an input port and a first amplifier and a second matching circuit disposed in a second radiofrequency path between the input port and a second amplifier. The first matching circuit transforms a first input impedance of the first amplifier to a predetermined input port impedance when the radiofrequency signal is in a first frequency range and transmits the first input impedance to the input port when the radiofrequency signal is in the second frequency range. The second matching circuit transforms the second input impedance to the input port impedance when the input signal is in the second frequency range and transmits the second input impedance to the input port when the radiofrequency signal is in the first frequency range.

  • Patent number: 8258892
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and system for high-speed bandpass serial data communication. A driver receives at least one data signal and generates a bandpass data signal for transmission through a bandpass waveguide interconnect. The bandpass data signal is launched into the bandpass waveguide interconnect using a first adaptor and extracted therefrom after transmission using a second adaptor. A receiver connected to the second adaptor recovers the at least one data signal from the extracted bandpass data signal. A dispersion compensation circuit receives one of the at least one data signal and the bandpass data signal and information indicative of a phase response of the bandpass waveguide interconnect and dispersion compensates the one of the at least one data signal and the bandpass data signal by compensating the phase response of the bandpass waveguide interconnect.

  • Patent number: 8210164
Abstract: A quasi-parabolic reflector and method are provided for a solar concentrator which produces a unique radiation pattern which is less susceptible to surface defects, less sensitive to target distance irregularities, and having greater uniformity of intensity for PV applications in comparison to that produced by true parabolic reflectors. Cross-sections of the quasi-parabolic reflector include spaced reflective surfaces which have focal areas spaced one from the other about an axis of symmetry. A method for forming petals of a quasi-parabolic reflector includes stamping them into shape using a stamping apparatus with a higher radius of curvature than the finished petal and iteratively testing and stamping the petal until the petal passes or fails a quality and accuracy threshold.

  • Patent number: 8108758
Abstract: The present invention relates to a decoding method and system for stochastic decoding of LDPC codes. Each encoded sample of a set of encoded samples is first scaled by a scaling factor proportional to a noise level of the set of encoded samples. Each of the scaled encoded samples is then converted into a corresponding probability. For each probability a corresponding probability message is the generated by encoding each probability as a sequence of digital bits. Each probability message is then provided to a respective node of a logic circuitry for stochastic decoding. The logic circuitry represents a factor graph of the parity check matrix of the LDPC code. Using the logic circuitry each probability message is processed for determining an estimated sequence of information bits. If an equality node is in a hold state a chosen bit is provided from a corresponding edge memory which is updated by storing output bits from the equality node when the same is in a state other than a hold state.

Abstract: A decoding method and system for stochastic decoding of linear codes with the parity check matrix comprising elements of a Galois field is provided. Each encoded sample of a set of encoded samples is first scaled by a scaling factor proportional to a noise level of the set of encoded samples. Each of the scaled encoded samples is then converted into a corresponding probability. For each probability a corresponding probability message is the generated by encoding each probability as a sequence of symbols or bits. Each probability message is then provided to a respective variable node of a logic circuitry for stochastic decoding. The logic circuitry represents a factor graph of the parity check matrix of the linear code.

  • Patent number: 7995688
Abstract: An iterative channel estimation and inter-carrier interference (ICI) cancellation process is provided for OFDM receivers, and more particularly for mobile OFDM receivers. The iterative process uses decision feedback to estimate both the channel gain and the ICI gains, the latter being the multiplicative gain applied to the adjacent sub-carriers. Thus the receiver performs equalization and ICI cancellation in an iterative fashion and is advantageous for estimating fast fading channels.

  • Patent number: 7991589
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and system for processing time-varying three-component signals to determine polarization dependent features therefrom. Relation data indicative of a predetermined expression relating ellipse elements describing an ellipse in three dimensional space to the components of the three-component signal are provided. Received signal data indicative of a three-component signal are processed for transforming each component of the three-component signal into time-frequency domain providing second signal data. Data indicative of polarization dependent features are then determined using the relation data and the second signal data. The method and system for processing time-varying three-component signals according to the invention are highly beneficial in numerous applications for evaluating three-component signal data such as seismology.
