  • Patent number: 6732548
Abstract: An ornamental glass object and method of fabrication (20) includes three separate glass elements which are combined in three separate heating operations. A foundation of base glass (22) is formed and partially melted at a high temperature smoothing the edges. Stringer glass (26) and chip glass (28) are combined to form a pattern (30) which is melted at a second intermediate temperature to fuse all elements of the pattern (30) together. Fused pattern (30) is then combined with melted base glass (22) and the combination heated at a third low temperature to bond pattern (30) to base glass (22).

  • Patent number: 6712720
Abstract: A method of practicing a golf shots includes using a practice golf club which has a backward bent shaft. By having the shaft bent backward, the player's hands are located in front of the ball both at address and impact. This ensures that the club face will provide the proper ball lift.

  • Patent number: 6705320
Abstract: Methods for performing tracheal intubation of small animals are shown utilizing an endotracheal tube specifically designed for them. The endotracheal tube has a zigzag bend and a distal portion having an outwardly facing surface. The outwardly facing surface is used to depress the epiglottis of the animal thereby giving a doctor a clear view of the animal's trachea. The endotracheal tube also includes a tapered end which is easily inserted between the arytenoid cartilages of the larynx, and a pressure sensor which provides a quantitative indication of the air pressure within the cuff of the endotracheal tube.

  • Patent number: 6705235
Abstract: A platform is selectively attachable to the wall of an open container. The platform includes a hanger which is placed over and engages the top rim of the container wall. A bracket is pivotal between a flat storage position and a locked position perpendicular to the planar body of the platform. When the bracket is placed in the locked perpendicular position, the hanger may be placed over the top rim of the upstanding wall so that the bracket abuts the outside surface of the upstanding wall and the platform is therefore maintained in a substantially horizontal orientation.

  • Patent number: 6702334
Abstract: A tapered compression ring for flared tube applications includes a generally ring-shaped body having (a) a gap defining a first end and an opposite second end, (b) a first face, (c) an opposite second face, and (d) a central axis. The first face is tapered at the first end, and the body is twisted so that the first end is offset from the second end along the central axis in a direction away from the first face.

  • Patent number: 6690326
Abstract: A phased array antenna system in accordance with the present invention is configured to transfer signal energy between an antenna array and a source/target via multiple subbeams respectively carried in different frequency channels. Each antenna array element can thus receive a composite signal which can be band pass filtered to separate the different frequency channel signal components. By separating the signal components, a different phase taper can be applied to each signal component thereby enabling coherent signal energy to be derived from each antenna element. The derived signal energy can then be combined to produce an antenna input/output signal.

  • Patent number: 6662652
Abstract: An altimeter (24) of the aneroid type having a correctable digitizer 26 is shown. When the pilot sets the altimeter to the local barometric pressure, the correctable digitizer is also set to the local barometric pressure. An input device (58) connected between the barometric pressure correction control (66) and the digitizer (62) generates a barometric pressure correction signal (67) which is routed to digitizer (62). Barometric pressure correction signal (67) modifies the aircraft altitude output value of digitizer (62) to a corrected aircraft altitude output value (68) which is routed to one or more external navigation systems (70).

  • Patent number: 6652742
Abstract: An automatic pool cleaning system employing a unitary body configured to move through a pool to collect debris from adjacent to the pool containment wall surface and/or the pool water surface and more particularly to such systems which utilize electric power for propulsion and/or cleaning in combination with water suction power for cleaning and/or propulsion and/or electric generation.

  • Patent number: 6645375
Abstract: A conduit assembly including a flexible elongate conduit for delivering operating power to a pool cleaner body which assembly includes multiple substantially rigid elongate buoyancy (positive or negative) members attached to the conduit for situating the conduit at a level between the pool water surface and floor surface to avoid obstructing the cleaner's movement along its travel path, whether at the water surface or at the floor surface.

  • Patent number: 6645424
Abstract: The present invention is directed to the preparation of in-situ formation of a series of glass-ceramic composites by the Self-propagating High temperature Synthesis (SHS) technique with advantages of processing simplicity as well as the potential of cost savings. The materials produced by the technique contain crystalline TiB2 phase and have either a pure glassy matrix or a glass matrix with partial devitrification based on the Al2O3—CaO system. The materials can potentially be used for infrared light transmission and for other high temperature applications. These materials can also be produced with relatively high porosity.

  • Patent number: 6623027
Abstract: A release binding is shown for releasably attaching a ski boot to a telemark or cross-country ski having a load spool with a circumferential groove and a substantially elliptical holding portion attached perpendicular to the bottom of a toe plate. A release plate having a load spring with two sides is attached to the ski. To assemble the boot on the ski, a lever is moved to an unlocked position placing the minor axis of the ellipse of the load spool perpendicular to the two sides of the spring. After the boot is assembled to the ski, the lever is moved to a locked position which moves the major axis of the ellipse of the spool until it is perpendicular to the sides of the spring.

  • Patent number: RE38479
Abstract: A method and apparatus responsive to a positive pressure water source (10) for cleaning the interior surface of a pool containment wall (3) and the upper surface (7) of a water pool (1) contained therein. The apparatus includes an essentially unitary cleaner body (6) and a level control subsystem (124, 138) for selectively moving the body (6) to a position either proximate to the surface (7) of the water pool for water surface cleaning or proximate to the interior surface (8) of the containment wall for wall surface cleaning. The cleaner body can have a weight/buoyancy characteristic to cause it to normally rest either (1) proximate to the pool bottom adjacent to the wall surface (i.e., heavier-than-water) or (2) proximate to the water surface (i.e. lighter-than-water).
