  • Patent number: 4854540
Abstract: An apparatus for holding a battery of a vehicle. A mounting frame is attached to a vertical surface of the vehicle and supports a detachable box in which the battery is retained. A pair of slide members on the mounting frame are slidably receivable within a corresponding pair of guide members on the box so as to permit vertical slidable adjustment of the box relative to the mounting frame. The box may be held in either a transport or an access position by a latching mechanism consisting of a pair of hooks attached to the box and a pair of channels on the mounting frame. A pair of perforations in the channels receive the hooks and define the transport and access positions of the box.

  • Patent number: 4774823
Abstract: A hitch lock for disabling hitching couplers of trailer vehicles. A reversible keeper member includes a base portion and an extended portion projected forwardly from the base portion at an obtuse angle. The base portion includes an aperture through which is inserted an ear that is mounted on a tongue of the trailer vehicle near the hitching apparatus. A substantially U-shaped lock guard, including an ear-receiving aperture in the web portion thereof, is inserted over the ear adjacent the base portion. A shackle of a padlock is inserted into a throughbore aperture of the ear between the leg portions of the lock guard. The extended portion of the keeper member obstructs the hitching coupler such that a trailer vehicle attached to a tractor vehicle cannot be disattached and, when reversed, an unattached trailer vehicle cannot be attached to a trailer vehicle. The hitch lock works effectively with both ball and socket couplers and with pintle ring couplers.

  • Patent number: 4740207
Abstract: An intralumenal graft for the repair of damaged or weakened sections of the vascular system. The graft consists of a semi-rigid, resilient tube made of a material suitable for long-term residence inside a vessel. The tube has a relaxed, smaller diameter and is expandable to a larger diameter which is maintained by a retaining ledge or teeth on the inside of the graft. Repair of a vessel is attained by insertion of the graft in its relaxed condition into the vessel at a site which may be remote from the damaged section. The graft is positioned and expanded to its larger diameter by a balloon catheter. Once expanded, the graft is retained in position by friction with the inner wall of the vessel.

  • Patent number: 4704847
Abstract: A control assembly associated with a walk-behind mower having a handle bar that is attached to a rear portion of the mower body and is formed with opposite side portions and a rear cross portion extending between the side portions. Forming the control assembly, are two curved bale members juxtaposed in a side-to-side relationship with one another and pivotally connected between the side portions of the mower handle bar. A first control cable connects one of the pivotable bale members with an operator zone engine kill/restart assembly and a second control cable connects the other bale member with the wheel clutch so that these assemblies can be independently actuated by consecutive movement of the bale members to actuating positions.

  • Patent number: 4694900
Abstract: A dry pellet dispensing device for installation on a well to chemically treat water drawn from the well. The device includes a pellet reservoir having two reversely inclined floor portions which direct the pellets toward a metering drum. The metering drum is mounted for rotation at an outlet end of the lower of the two floor portions. A plurality of pellet receiving indentations are spaced along the periphery of the metering drum. A drive motor rotates the drum which acts to capture a pellet in each of its pellet receiving indentations. Captured pellets are carried out of the pellet reservoir by the drum and released into a dispensing tube which directs them into the well. The drive motor is controlled by an adjustable interval timer that is responsive to the flow of water from the well.

  • Patent number: 4662397
Abstract: A scheduled fluid control valve which performs a pre-established sequence of flow rates and timing schedules in response to pressure pulses in the controlled fluid. The valve consists of a generally cylindrical housing connected to a source of pressurized fluid and containing circular plates or cylindrical control surfaces coupled to actuating means responsive to the presence of pressurized fluid. The actuating means includes an actuator plate or cylinder, a biasing spring, and a longitudinal shaft or cylinder upon which is incised at least one generally helical groove within which track one or more follower pins. Pressurized fluid causes the actuator plate or cylinder to rotate, following the path defined by the helical groove, resulting in relative movement of the control surfaces whereby the schedule embodied in the relative size and placement of fluid ports through the control surfaces is performed.

  • Patent number: 4647214
Abstract: An improved apparatus for pressuring a hard frozen comestible, similar to hardened ice cream, while simultaneously subjecting it to mechanical action to reduce the crystal and cell structure of the material to transform it into a soft, smooth and creamy texture only slightly less cold than its starting temperature. The apparatus includes a hopper for receiving the hard frozen comestible to be treated, an auger positioned above the hopper and automatically actuated by movement of the hopper toward the auger to produce conditioning of the comestible by the auger as the hopper and auger move toward one another into an adjacent relationship. The auger is powered by a drive assembly that includes an electrically driven motor and a fluid drive unit to provide a constant drive force on the auger without undue stress on the drive motor.
