Abstract: A fishing rod handle extension for attachment to the butt end of a fishing rod handle having a generally rectilinear front segment, a generally rectilinear rear segment and an elongated middle segment that is joined at an angle to the front and rear segments with each of the segments lying generally in the same plane. A front segment has a first end for attachment to the butt end of a fishing rod handle.

Abstract: The closure has a bung-type socket (10) of elastic material which fits sealingly into the filling hole and is provided with a central orifice (18). The valve element (20) of the pressure-compensating valve occupies in the central orifice a clearly defined closed position and a clearly defined pressure-compensating position, between which it can be turned within limits defined by stops. The bung-type socket (10) has a lateral pressure-compensating duct (42), the outside end of which is disposed above the liquid level in the completely filled container. The valve element (20) in pressure-compensating position opens up a flow path from the inside end of the pressure-compensating duct (42) to the upper side of the bung-type socket (10), while in closed position it shuts off the path on the inside, covers it on the outside and seals it tightly on both inside and outside.

Abstract: A door security device, the device comprising in combination:a bracket (3) defining a stop wall, the bracket (3) having a pivotal mount (18,20) to mount, in use, to an inner face of a door (10); andan elongate prop (1) having a first end (2) and a second end, (4) the first end (2) of the prop (1) having a pivotal mount (6, 8) to mount, in use, to a surface (13) such as a wall adjacent the door (10) and the second end (4) of the prop (1) being adapted to co-operatively engage with the stop wall (16,17) of the bracket (3) to brace the door (10) against the adjacent surface (13) when the bracket (3) is in a first radial orientation but to disengage the stop wall of the bracket (3) when the bracket (3) is turned about the bracket's pivotal mount (18,20), the bracket (3) being turnable about the mount (18, 20) by use of a key means (21) which is co-operatively engageable with the pivotal mount (18,20) of the bracket (3) from the outer face of the door (10).

Abstract: Roof vents include at least one moisture sensing element which is electrically coupled to an electrical connector in the roof vent. The electrical connector is located in the roof vent in such a manner that it is protected from the environment. A portable moisture sensing circuit or device with a moisture display for indicating a degree of moisture is provided with an electrical connector which mates with the electrical connector in the roof vent. According to the invention, the roof vents are installed in a roof system with the moisture sensors located below the roof insulation. When it is time to inspect the roof for leaks, a worker carries the portable device from one roof vent to another and plugs the device connector into the vent connector to take a moisture reading from the sensing element(s) associated with each vent. Since only one electrical circuit and display is used, the total cost of a system having many roof vents is significantly reduced.

Abstract: An improved screw head nail includes a cylindrical machine screw and a nail having an upper end defining a nail head, a lower end defining a nail point, and a nail shank disposed therebetween. The nail shank has a centrally disposed threaded cylindrical bore extending from the nail head towards the nail point. The nail head has a generally frustoconical opening formed therethrough which is aligned with and opens onto the cylindrical bore and which, upon flattening of the nail head, protects the cylindrical bore from substantial damage and exposes the same for allowing full threaded receipt of the machine screw therein.

Abstract: A stand for supporting a fishbowl thereon in which the stand includes a base, a support surface for supporting at least a portion of a bottom of the fishbowl, and at least one upwardly extending portion attached to said base which is positioned and dimensioned to extend about and around at least a side portion of a fishbowl placed on the support surface. At least one of the base and the upwardly extending portion simulate a three-dimensional pictorial representation, such as a landscape or aquatic scene, individual, object, or a combination thereof, in which a fishbowl placed on the support surface is incorporated. Preferably, the support surface is disposed in an elevated and parallel relation relative to the base. Desirably, the upwardly extending portion extends around a portion of the lower side portion, upper side portion and top of the fishbowl.

Abstract: Aspects of the present invention provide relatively inexpensive methods and apparatus for modifying existing pianos to provide interchangeable keyboards of different sizes without sacrificing or impairing the quality of the original piano. The keys of a standard piano are removed and the pins in the front rail of the key frame are replaced with pins which are more closely positioned. The original keys are then replaced with new keys of narrower dimensions which are more closely positioned in the area of the front rail.

Abstract: The bottle top dispenser has a valve housing and a piston-cylinder unit, which can be releasably affixed to the housing, the piston and cylinder of which can be activated in an axial stroke movement relative to one another, in order to draw liquid from a bottle on which the dispenser is set, and eject it. The intake process takes place in a spring-activated extension movement, and the ejection process takes place in a manually activated compression movement of the piston-cylinder unit. The dispenser has an activation unit, where a releasable activation connection can be produced between the former and the piston-cylinder unit. The activation unit is provided with the spring element for the intake process, and preferably designed for the manual action for ejection.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for forming hollow tubular light-distributing tubes for area illumination along the length of the tubes from a beam of light introduced into one end. Within the tube is a geometrically complex, 3-dimensional light redirecting structure traversing the light beam along the full length of the tube to redirect the light beam proportionately along the length of tube through a window formed therein. Both the tube and the light-redirecting structure can be formed as an integrated flat, substantially void-free structure for shipping and then converted in situ to the operative, 3 dimensional configuration.

Abstract: A latch includes an angled bracket having a front flange and a rear flange, each flange defining a hole, a cylindrical bolt having a front end and a rear end with an orthogonal bolt handle located intermediate of the front and rear ends, and a coil spring. The angled bracket includes at least two substantially orthogonal contiguous sides which extend from the front flange to the rear flange where these sides contain a substantially U-shaped slot, a portion of which lies on one of the sides and a portion of which lies on the other side. The bolt is arranged relative to the angled bracket such that the bolt handle extends through the slot and the ends of the bolt extend through the respective holes in the flanges. The spring is arranged coaxial to the bolt and biases the bolt forward to a latched position. In order to move the bolt to the unlatched position, the bolt must be both rotated and translated for the bolt handle to move through the U-shaped slot.

Abstract: A rotor-stator assembly having a stator and a rotor for mixing and emulsifying materials in which the rotor includes wedge-shaped rotor blades and the stator includes generally V-shaped openings which together impart additional and increased high speed shearing forces and/or pressures on the mixture thereby resulting in a finer reduction of agglomerates and mixture uniformity. The rotor blades preferably comprise a wedge-shaped leading edge and desirably the blades have a V-shaped cross-section. The stator preferably includes a first plurality of elongated, spaced-apart slots, and a second plurality of spaced-apart slots. The slots are disposed so as to define a generally V-shaped configuration around the circumference of the stator.

Abstract: Apparatus for use in a gravure press or other reproduction apparatus, comprising a roller apparatus which is at least partly electrically conductive and at least one electrical transfer device adjacent the surface of the roller and connected to a power source, in use, to enable a charge to be applied to the surface of the roller by each such transfer device, and means for moving the transfer device relative to the surface of the roller, in use, whereby to mitigate the adverse image-patterning effects on gravure printing, or other reproduction, of any spatial discontinuities in the level of charge transfer from the spaced transfer devices onto the roller.

Abstract: A bird cage which comprises a base, four sides having a lower inverted U-shaped edge member, a top, and a seed catcher which outwardly extends from the sides to catch and direct debris, such as discarded bird seeds, shells, etc., which fall out from the sides. A rectangular-shaped side retainer comprising four horizontal elongated bars connected by four corner mounts is mounted above the seed catcher and releasably attachable to the base to securely support the U-shaped edge members of the sides in a spaced-apart relation to the seed catcher. The attachment of the sides to side retainer provides an unobstructed opening or passageway under the length of the securely supported side for directing discarded bird seed into base.

Abstract: A syringe for the injection or taking of fluids having a needle mounting endpiece which is detachably coupled to barrel by mating features. A plunger and a coupled seal are guided by flanges sliding within guides and are further guided by protrusions so as to prevent rotation of the plunger and prevent unwanted contact between the flanges and the barrel. The plunger exhibits a bayonet-type fixture which upon rotation engages within the endpiece and allows retraction of the endpiece and coupled needle within barrel. Following engagement and retraction, the plunger may be prevented from movement by the engagement of protrusion on the barrel protrusions and abutment of radial protrusions against annular protrusions. Further embodiments and improvements are provided.

Abstract: A foldable box includes six substantially rectangular plastic sides which are connected to each other by live hinges so that the sides may be folded flat or opened to a substantially hexagonal configuration. A substantially hexagonal plastic bottom is connected to the bottom edge of one of the sides by a live hinge and a substantially hexagonal plastic top is connected to the top edge of one of the sides by a live hinge. An inner flange extends substantially orthogonally from the bottom edges of at least two of the sides other than the one to which the plastic bottom is attached for supporting the plastic bottom when the box is assembled by folding. An outer extending flange is provided on at least two edges of the plastic top to support it when the box is folded closed. A removable substantially hexagonal plastic shelf is preferably provided and inner surfaces of at least two sides are provided with interior flanges to support the shelf.
