  • Patent number: 7857710
Abstract: A golf club having a shaft, a grip, and a head provides improved balance and feel. The shaft has a shaft distal end, a shaft axis defining a vertical plane, and a forward bend section proximate the shaft distal end. The head is secured to the shaft distal end and includes a striking face, a trailing edge, a club head center of gravity, a heel section having a heel section center of gravity, and a toe section having a toe section center of gravity. The heel section center of gravity is forward of the striking face and the club head center of gravity is further from the trailing edge than the striking face. The forward bend section of the shaft projects from the vertical plane at an attachment angle such that the shaft distal end is forward of the heel section center of gravity.

  • Patent number: 7849971
Abstract: A powered controlled acceleration suspension work platform hoist system for raising and lowering a work platform at a predetermined acceleration. The system incorporates several hoists attached to the work platform and in electrical communication with the motor control system. The motor control system is attached to the work platform and is in electrical communication with a constant frequency input power source and the hoist motors. The motor control system controls the acceleration of the work platform as it is raised and lowered by controlling the hoist motors. The controlled acceleration hoist system also includes a platform control system attached to the work platform that is in electrical communication with the motor control system and the hoist motors. Acceleration control is achieved by converting the constant frequency input power to a variable frequency power supply. This may be accomplished through the use of a variable frequency drive(s).

  • Patent number: 7840315
Abstract: An aviation yoke HSI interface and flight deck control indicator and selector safety system enhances flight safety. The system incorporates a multi-controlled HSI with a yoke heading adjustment control, a yoke VOR radial selector, and a yoke heading centering control positioned on the captain yoke. The system may also incorporate a first officer multi-controlled HSI with a first officer yoke heading adjustment control, a first officer yoke VOR radial selector, and a first officer yoke heading and course centering control positioned on the first officer yoke. An autopilot mode indicator visually indicates whether an autopilot is flying according to a desired heading or according to a VOR radial signal. A side selector-indicator control permits selection of which side controls the flight of the aircraft. A first control unit and a second control unit may be in electrical communication with both sides to fly the aircraft in autopilot.

  • Patent number: 7833114
Abstract: A low ground resistance golf tee for insertion into a playing surface to support a golf ball above the playing surface to be struck by a golf club launching the golf ball in a flight direction is provided. The golf tee includes a body having an impact side, a release side, an insertion end, and a ball support end. The golf tee has a low exit resistance region that includes a low exit resistance region insertion edge for penetrating and separating the playing surface to create a preferred exit path for the low exit resistance region upon impact by the golf club. The golf tee further includes a stem region located between the low exit resistance region and the ball support end, which is designed to be displayed above the playing surface. Upon impact, the golf tee pivots forward in the flight direction with minimal resistance from the playing surface.

  • Patent number: 7821393
Abstract: A multivariate environmental sensing system with redundant transmission pathways with a network of nodes detecting environmental conditions and processing a transmissible signal. Nodes use predetermined criteria to make periodic detections, maintaining a low power state between detections. Power is conserved by deciding whether detections are transmitted immediately, or may be stored for periodic transmission. The nodes power up and immediately transmit urgent detections, storing routine detections for delayed batch transmission. Nodes may transmit signals received from other nodes, passing along signals received from more distant nodes. Transmission may have a predetermined pattern, but the system alters this pattern if there is disruption to the system or pattern. Gateways process data from nodes and pass data to other gateways, on an immediate or deferred basis, to a control center, where data is analyzed.

  • Patent number: 7794332
Abstract: A visual and tactile confirmation golf grip and system is provided. The golf grip may include an alignment channel, an alignment projection, or combinations thereof extending along an anterior surface of the golf grip, a posterior surface of the golf grip, a side surface of the golf grip, or combinations thereof. The alignment channel and the alignment projection are designed and configured to provide a visual and tactile indication as to whether the golf grip is in the proper, or intended, orientation with respect to a golf club face. The system includes a golf grip and an alignment device. The alignment device is releasably secured to the golf grip and includes a feedback element. The feedback element provides an indication as to whether the golf grip is in a desired position with respect to the golf club face.

  • Patent number: 7760497
Abstract: The hoist control cooling system for preferentially cooling components of a variable frequency drive that is controlling a hoist motor. The cooling system includes an inverter temperature sensor, an ambient temperature sensor, a cooling system controller, an inverter cooler, and an ambient cooler. The inverter temperature sensor measures the temperature of the inverter and generates an inverter temperature signal. The ambient temperature sensor measures the temperature of the ambient air in the sealed control enclosure and generates an ambient temperature signal. The cooling system controller communicates with the inverter temperature sensor and the ambient temperature sensor by receiving the inverter temperature signal, the ambient temperature signal, and generating both an inverter cooling signal, and an ambient cooling signal. The inverter cooling signal controls the cooling of the inverter.

  • Patent number: 7749098
Abstract: A golf putter head having a vertically curved putter face with multiple horizontal contact facets. The face has a vertical radius of curvature that is at least 2 inches and no more than 3.5 inches. The face includes a plurality of horizontal contact facets that are vertically curved to match the vertical radius of curvature. The contact facets, along with the radius of curvature, ensure that no more than two of the horizontal contact facets contact the golf ball when struck by the putter head at a speed of less than 15 miles per hour. The putter produces a horizontal linear contact, or impact, geometry that compensates for misdirection of the path of the putter head throughout the stroke of the putter head. At least one of the horizontal contact facets is located at an elevation above the center of curvature and at least one is located below.
