  • Patent number: 6786122
Abstract: A scale system used with a table saw. The table saw has a stationary table, a movable table and support rails portion relative the stationary table, and a rip fence that slides over the stationary table and the movable table. The scale system includes a first measurement scale and a second measurement scale located relative the stationary table. The first measurement scale includes a zero marking aligned with a point on the stationary table and a last marking separated from the zero marking. The initial marking on the second scale is aligned proximate the last marking such that the second scales runs counter to the first scale. A pointer system designates the distance on the measurement scales the unit is from the point where a first pointer on the unit measures on the first measurement scale and a second pointer on the stationary table measures on the second scale. The scale system can include a third measurement scale on the opposite side of the scale.

  • Patent number: 6779187
Abstract: Methods and system for dynamically intercepting exported functions for dynamic link libraries for a process in a windowed operating system. The methods and system allow calls to exported functions in a dynamic link library on a windowed operating system to be dynamically intercepted. The methods and system include using an interception driver to determine if any exported function calls should be intercepted, and an interception dynamic link library to dynamically intercept exported functions calls. The interception dynamic link library includes an interception table to record exported functions that will be intercepted and a global interception function. The global interception function includes one or more calls to before-interception functions, replacement functions and after-interception functions that can be called with a pre-determined priority for an intercepted function.

  • Patent number: 6771666
Abstract: A system and method for providing a mechanism for trans-medium address resolution on a network with at least one highly disconnected medium having multiple access points to other media. The system and method provides a “unique” media access control (MAC) address in address resolution protocol (ARP) for mobile nodes in an ad-hoc network, correctly identifying the optimum intelligent access point (IAP) for node communication where the optimum IAP changes more rapidly than traditional address updating may be able to accommodate. Medium layer routing protocols recognize medium frames addressed with this unique MAC address should be routed to the currently associated IAP, whichever IAP that might be at the moment the frame is sent.

  • Patent number: 6772169
Abstract: A system, a method and an apparatus are provided for the wireless monitoring and management of computer systems, networks, software systems or databases on a portable and/or handheld device which may monitor, update, and fix the system from any location and at any time. More specifically, the system, the method and the apparatus provide for the wireless monitoring and management of such systems by formatting information on a handheld screen of a wireless device, automatically wrapping portions of information for browsing on wireless devices, displaying information in a graph or other format on a wireless device, and/or auto-scaling of graphs on a wireless device.

  • Patent number: 6769338
Abstract: A bevel miter saw is provided having a switch handle that is ergonomically rotatable to a selected predetermined position as provided by a detent mechanism. An embodiment of the detent mechanism includes a detent member having radially directed slots, and a detent pin movable in a generally radial direction relative to the slots. Furthermore, a safety feature is provided wherein the detent pin is mounted to a lever including a projection that obstructs a trigger switch in the handle when the detent pin is not engaged in one of the detent slots so that the handle could rotate.

  • Patent number: 6768730
Abstract: A system and method for reducing the number of transmissions required for a node in a communications network to range other nodes in the network, while also enabling the node to continuously monitor the reservation channel during the ranging process without the use of a second receiver, and to indicate to the ranged node and other nodes in the network that the ranging node and the ranged node are not tuning to a data channel to perform the ranging, to thus enable the node to more efficiently determine its geographic location. The system and method further enables a node in a wireless communications network to minimize the amount of time it is not monitoring the reservation channel while receiving information messages from other nodes in the network.

  • Patent number: 6758123
Abstract: A miter saw is provided having a support arm that is pivotally mounted to a base for adjustment of a pivot angle, the saw including a detent mechanism to provide pivot stops at common bevel angles, such as at 45° L, 0° (vertical), and 45° R. The detent mechanism includes a step-shaped, arcuate detent block mounted to the support arm in an adjustable manner to permit the accurate setting of the block in a home position. In an embodiment, a pair of set screws acts against opposite ends of the detent block, permitting precise adjustment in either direction. An axially movable detent pin is mounted to the base to contact against stepped surfaces of the block. The arm is free to pivot within a bevel angle range defined by one of the surfaces. Steps between surfaces act as a pivot stops, abutting the pin at a corresponding predetermined angle of the arm.

  • Patent number: 6755298
Abstract: A conveyor for moving items may move synchronously with a number of diversion segments for a section and the diversion segments can be individually extended and retracted across the direction of transport, in order to push an item (10) off the conveyor (12). The diversion segments (22) are guided individually in extendable and retractable manner side by side in a carriage (18) in the direction of transport and the carriage (18) can be moved to and fro in the direction of transport. The carriage (18) is generally controlled such that it runs for a section roughly synchronously with the conveyor (12), the length of the section along which the carriage (18) plus the minimum interval between the items. A rail (26) that can be moved across the direction of transport can be provided, with which the diversion segments (22) can optionally be individually coupled.

  • Patent number: 6753490
Abstract: The present invention is for an ambidextrous lockout switch system for use with a power tool. With the system of the present invention in place, a multi-step process must be carried out before the power tool can be activated. The system is adapted for the process to be carried out with either a left or a right hand. The present invention includes a handle body having a switch trigger or lever blockable by a barrier. The barrier is movable with either a left of a right lockout button, with the right lockout button being operably linked to the left lockout button. The system includes also a spring, which is mechanically coupled to the barrier. The spring effectively restores the barrier to a position in which the barrier blocks actuation of the switch trigger or lever.

  • Patent number: 6754188
Abstract: A system and method for enabling a node, such as a mobile user terminal, in a wireless communications network to route data packets to other nodes in the network based on the information contained in the data packets. The system and method employs a node, adapted for use in a wireless communications network, which comprises a controller that is adapted to examine a content of a data packet addressed to a destination node, that can have an Internet protocol (IP) address to which the data packet is addressed. Based on the content of the data packet, the controller selects a routing path including at least one of a plurality of other nodes in the network via which the data packet is to be routed to the destination node. The controller can compare the content of the data packet to routing information stored in a memory, and select the routing path based on the comparison.
