  • Patent number: 6904021
Abstract: A system and method for selecting an appropriate transmit power and data rate at which a communication signal is transmitted over a link between nodes in a wireless ad-hoc communication network based on factors such as variations in path loss in the link, fading conditions, noise level estimation and overall link quality. The system and method perform the operations of computing path loss in the link based on information provided to the source node from the destination node pertaining to characteristics of a message that was transmitted by the source node and received by the destination node, determining a noise factor at the destination node, and calculating the power level and rate at which the data is transmitted over the link from the source node to the destination node based on the path loss and the noise factor. More specifically, the method calculates the power level based on the path loss, the noise factor and signal fading, and determines the rate based on the calculated power level.

  • Patent number: 6895094
Abstract: The device receives an input signal xt and an observation signal yt, one component of which is the response of a system to the input signal. It determines an error signal et at an instant t in accordance with the equation et=yt?XtTHt?1, where Ht?1 is a vector made up of L coefficients of an identification filter having a finite impulse response representative of the impulse response of the system and XtT=(xt, xt?1, . . . , xt?L+1). A predictive analysis of the input signal is performed by a computation applied to frames of the input signal. The L coefficients of the identification filter are adapted by adding to the vector Ht?1 a vector proportional to e t X t T ? U t + ? ? U t , where Ut is a vector made up of the L values of a prediction residue of the input signal at the instant t and at the preceding L?1 instants, and ? is a positive or zero coefficient.

  • Patent number: 6843627
Abstract: A wrenchless clamp assembly is provided to secure a tool disc, such as a circular saw blade, to a shaft of a power tool. The blade clamp assembly includes an outer flange positionable against an outer side of the blade and a manually tightenable click bolt that includes a movable click member operable to selectively engage the outer flange for rotationally locking or unlocking the bolt. In an embodiment, the click member moves alternatingly between axially engaged and disengaged positions according to sequential rotational increments of the click member relative to the bolt body. Accordingly, the click bolt can be installed by hand and rotationally locked without a need for high torque, and the click bolt can be easily removed by hand when the click member is moved to the disengaged position, axially free from the outer flange. In an embodiment, the click bolt permits limited torque applied during installation.

  • Patent number: 6824317
Abstract: A security camera has an adjustable turret that holds a lens assembly which can be aimed in various directions. The camera also has a compact housing which, in combination with the adjustable directionality of the turret, enables universal mounting to various structures and positions in an aircraft cabin. The camera operates in light and dark conditions, as the lens assembly is configured to focus visible and infrared light wavelengths onto a fixed focal plane. In an embodiment, the camera includes an infrared illumination source to illuminate a field of view during dark conditions. The lens assembly includes a rigid barrel with a pinhole aperture through which light enters a series of lens elements. An optical sensor is mounted to an opposite end of the barrel at the fixed focal plane to generate an electronic image signal, and the sensor is rotatably adjustable to yield a correct image orientation depending on the turret position.
