  • Patent number: 7820040
Abstract: A filtration device and method for removing pollutants from fluid such as storm-water. The filtration device has a chamber including a series of pivotal filtration assemblies each including a weir and filter. The filters are selected and positioned for sequentially filtering larger then smaller pollutant particles from the water flowing through the device. The weirs are configured and positioned for sequentially permitting water overflow of (and thereby taking off-line) the smaller-particle size filters then the larger-particle size filters from the water flowing through the device. And the filtration assemblies are pivotally mounted to the chamber walls and configured so that, when one of the filters becomes clogged, the water pressure against it causes that filter assembly to pivot into a bypass position permitting water to flow under it.

  • Patent number: 7815667
Abstract: A power source for an implantable medical device, such as a spinal cord stimulator, has a controlled anterior surface. Preferably, the contoured anterior surface includes a layer of a biocompatible material, such as a polymer. Also preferably, the layer provides a contour generally conforming to the profile of a human buttock. Optionally, a cosmetic implant of generally substantially the same size and shape as the power source is implanted in the opposite buttock as the power source so as to create balance.

  • Patent number: 7806268
Abstract: A sheet of material is divided into front and rear panels and folds over on itself to a folded position. The front panel has flaps and immediately adjacent hanger openings formed in it. When the flaps are pivoted outward, the spaces they vacated define flap openings. Hangers project from the rear panel and align with their corresponding hanger openings. To assemble the display, the flaps are pivoted outward to their open positions and the sheet is folded to the folded position. As the sheet is being folded, the hangers swingingly extend through the hanger and flap openings, which together form a single continuous opening. Once in the folded position, the flaps are then pivoted back to their closed positions with the hangers extending through and interlocked with the hanger openings.

  • Patent number: 7797782
Abstract: A grip for a graspable item having a body and a handle connected to and extending outwardly away from the body. The grip includes a hollow core configured to slide onto the handle, and a hollow sleeve having a plurality of outwardly extending ribs disposed on the external surface of the sleeve. The sleeve is configured to slide onto the exterior of the core such that the core and the sleeve define a cavity therebetween. The grip further includes a quantity of a gel disposed within the cavity. The ends of the sleeve are sealed against the corresponding ends of the core to retain the gel within the cavity, and the gel allows the sleeve to deform to conform to the shape of a user's hand when the handle of the graspable item is grasped by the user.

  • Patent number: 7594527
Abstract: A wheel system for providing one or more protrusions in a ground-engaging surface of the wheel. In some embodiments, the wheel comprises a first hub, a tire mounted on the first hub, a second hub rotatable with respect to the first hub, and system for deforming the tire in a generally radial direction in response to relative rotation between the first and second hubs. The invention also provides a wheel cover comprising an outer surface having one or more protrusions and, when the cover is fitted to a wheel, the outer surface of the cover provides the ground-engaging surface of the wheel. The wheel and wheel cover of the invention are particularly suited for use with prams and similar vehicles in order to impart a rocking motion to the pram during use.

  • Patent number: 7534152
Abstract: An underwater buoy release system having a moment arm release system. The moment arm release system has a magnetically attractive arm structure connected to a buoy. The buoy release system further includes an electromechanical device having magnetically attractive elements, wherein the electromechanical device moves the magnetically attractive elements toward, and away from, the magnetically attractive arm structure. The magnetic attraction in the moment arm release system and the electromechanical device is created by rare earth magnets. The buoy release system further includes a signal reception device, wherein the signal reception device includes a battery, a signal reception transducer, and a PC board. The PC board is formatted to decipher a predetermined signal transmitted from a remote signal transmission device.

  • Patent number: 7490937
Abstract: The present invention provides a series of aspherical contact lenses, each lens having a first central optical zone on its anterior surface and a second central optical zone on its posterior surface. Both central optical zones are aspherical surfaces. The first central optical zone is designed to have a surface which provides a target optical power and an optical power profile selected from the group consisting of (1) a substantially constant optical power profile, (2) a power profile mimicking the optical power profile of a spherical lens with an identical targeted optical power, and (3) a power profile in which lens spherical aberration at 6 mm diameter is from about 0.65 diopter to about 1.8 diopters more negative than spherical aberration at 4 mm diameter.

  • Patent number: 7488267
Abstract: A bowhunting tracking-assist device on an arrow's shaft includes a tracer agent and an agent dispenser. The dispenser releases the agent when the arrow strikes a game animal, and the released agent identifies an enhanced-visibility trail of the fleeing animal. In an example embodiment, the dispenser has wells for holding the agent and a cover that displaces to release the agent when the arrow drives into the animal. The tracer agent preferably comprises one or more compounds that produce visible light to the naked eye and/or under a black light source. Example tracer agents include biological stains that produce visible light upon contact with blood, luminol or another chemiluminescent compound that releases light by a chemical reaction such as may occur when contacting blood, a basic salt such as sodium carbonate or another effervescence-inducing agent, a phosphorescent compound, or a fluorescent compound.
