  • Patent number: 5893872
Abstract: A method of enhancing the appearance of a body area having wrinkles, blemishes or excess mass or having been disfigured by an injury such as a burn. A cosmetic mask having a specially sculpted body contacting surface adapted to treat a subject's distinctive bodily characteristics is formed by first forming a negative impression of the subject's targeted body area; filling the impression with a hardening material; when the hardening material has hardened, separating the impression from the hardening material, the hardening material being in the form of a mold reflecting a positive image of the body area; sculpting the mold to achieve a desired body contacting surface; and forming a mask from the mold. After the mask is formed it is applied to the body area for a time sufficient to enhance the appearance of the body area.

  • Patent number: 5480141
Abstract: A hitting practice apparatus consists of a stand which supports a telescoping tower of adjustable height. The tower in turn supports a horizontal support arm, upon which a oval-shaped rotation element is pivotally mounted. A ball suspension cable is connected at one of its ends to the rotation element, and at its other end to a ball element having an internal passage through which the cable may be clearingly received. An elongate plug element is implanted within the ball element. An enlarged cable stop element, to which the lower end of the ball suspension cable is secured, is positioned within an internal chamber with the implanted plug element.

  • Patent number: 5327331
Abstract: A method of reducing the resistance of a sleeping mammal to arising at a preselected wake up time by exposing the mammal to at least one source of artificial light for a period of exposure of at least about 0.5 hour and no longer than about 8 hours before the preselected wake up time. The intensity of the artificial light may increase during the period of exposure. an apparatus for carrying out the method comprises a normally deacutated source of artificial light capable of illuminating a mammal, comprising a plurality of electric lamps, a control device, such as a timer, for signalling the commencement of a period of exposure preceding the mammal's preselected wake up time and an increase in illumination intensity during the period of exposure, after its commencement. The apparatus further features circuitry and a power supply, responsive to the control device, for actuating one lamp in response to the commencement signal, and for actuating additional lamps later during the period of exposure.
