Abstract: A power conversion system comprises a power converter comprising a plurality of semiconductor power switches, an LC filter coupled between an output of the power converter and an electric grid, and a power conversion control system. The LC filter comprises an inductor coupled in series to the electric grid, and a capacitor. The LC filter and the grid result in an equivalent LC circuit comprising an impedance of the LC filter and an impedance of the electric grid. The power conversion control system comprises a damper and a converter controller. The damper receives an LC filter signal and an equivalent LC circuit impedance signal and generates a damping signal. The converter controller receives a current or voltage reference signal, a current or voltage command signal, and the damping signal to generate control signals for driving switching operations of the semiconductor power switches.

Abstract: A method for implementing a high-availability system that includes a plurality of controllers that each includes a shared memory. Abstract: In a locomotive consist having at least a lead locomotive and a remote locomotive with a distributed power system on each locomotive in the locomotive consist, a system for establishing distributed power operations of the locomotive consist from a single location, the system including a communication network providing communications to and from at least one distributed power system, and a distributed power setup unit in communication with the distributed power system by way of the communication network. Abstract: A method of verifying clearance of a rail crossing includes: (a) detecting the presence of a train near the crossing, the train being equipped with a locomotive control unit; (b) in response to detection of the train near the crossing, generating a unique code; (c) capturing an image of the crossing; (d) transmitting the unique code along with the image to a remote operator control unit; (e) using the locomotive control unit, waiting for a response from the operator control unit containing the unique code; and (f) if the response containing the unique code is received by the locomotive control unit, permitting further operation of the train and, if the unique code is not received by the locomotive control unit, carrying out an automatic response which prevents movement of the train through the crossing.

Abstract: A lamp having improved color quality scale is provided. The lamp has a light-transmissive envelope and a phosphor layer comprising a first phosphor and a second phosphor wherein the first phosphor has an emission band with a maximum between 590 nm and 640 nm and the second phosphor has an emission band with a maximum between 520 nm and 570 nm. The light generated by the phosphor layer, when the lamp is energized, has delta chroma values for all fifteen color samples of the color quality scale within select parameters. The delta chroma values are measured in the CIE LAB color space.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for diagnosing faults in a monitored system that is monitored by sensors. An empirical model is generated for a targeted component of the monitored system. The empirical model is trained with an historical data source that contains example observations of the sensors. Substantially real-time estimates are generated based on instrumented data corresponding to the targeted component. The substantially real-time estimates are compared and differenced with instrumented readings from the sensors to provide residual values. The residual values are analyzed to detect the faults and determine a location of the faults in the monitored system.
Abstract: A system for verifying data in a track database comprises a track profile database stored in a memory having data relative to one or more track grades and geographic coordinates or range of coordinates associated with each of the one or more track grades. A vehicle trip plan is developed according to the track profile data that comprises a designated path of travel of the vehicle over the track system and a planned vehicle operating condition associated with each of the one or more track grades and the associated coordinates or range of coordinates of the track grades. A controller is configured to compare a stored current vehicle operating condition of the vehicle and associated geographic coordinates to the planned vehicle operating condition to verify the accuracy of the track grade data at the associated geographic coordinates.
