  • Patent number: 4739946
Abstract: A fishing reel line refill tool for use with a fishing pole having a reel thereon, and a fishing reel line refill spool, includes a first member having a first and second section, each section being pivotally joined together at one end and having a latching means on the opposite end. The first and second sections form a first closed position wherein the sections abut to form a plurality of holes therethrough of varying diameter size, each of the holes adapted to receive therethrough in a tight friction fit a portion of the extending rod section of the fishing pole, and a second open position wherein the sections are pivotally rotated in opposite directions from their abutting relation of the first closed position. A second member is threadably mated with the first member and extends therefrom. The second member is adapted to receive thereon the refill spool in a rotatable relationship therewith.

  • Patent number: 4699528
Abstract: A rotary assembly includes a shaft, a housing, and a bearing interposed between shaft and housing to provide radial support while also permitting relative rotation. The invention permits optimum operation of the bearing, by permitting the bearing to be self-positioned even though slightly out of alignment with either the shaft or the housing, or both. This is accomplished by providing a radial space between the bearing and the shaft or housing; placing a generally ring-shaped compensating member in circumferential engagement with the associated cylindrical surface of the shaft or housing; providing a longitudinal taper on the outer surface of the associated end of the bearing; and then placing the tapered surface of the bearing in overlapping engagement with the compensating member and resiliently urging the bearing and the compensating member axially together so as to provide a firm support both radially and axially for the bearing.

  • Patent number: 4697606
Abstract: In an umbrella having a generally vertical two-part central shaft with a first fixed lower support post, and a second upper support post, which is pivotally attached to the upper end of the lower support post, an openable closeable umbrella cover carried by the upper end of the upper post, and a runner adapted to be driven upward along the lower support post and over the juncture of the two support posts onto the upper post for expanding the cover a drive gear tram is included for raising the runner and another second gear for tilting the upper support post relative to the lower support post including, also, a first gear rack extending from the juncture of the two support posts downward along the lower support post and is secured thereto. A second gear rack extends from the juncture upward along the upper post and is secured thereto. The two gear racks are substantially contiguous when the upper post is in vertical alignment with the lower post.

  • Patent number: 4697788
Abstract: In an exemplary embodiment in a two-part jack system which includes a jack stand having a load-bearing member supported from vertically telescoping members, one of which has ratchet teeth and another of which carries a spring-loaded pawl for selectively engaging the ratchet teeth, and a power unit having arms for directly supporting the load-bearing member in order to extend or retract the jack stand, the invention is directed to an automatic release mechanism operable when the power unit is being utilized to retract the jack stand for disengaging the pawl from the ratchet to thereby permit complete retraction of the jack stand in a single movement and comprises: an extension arm on the pawl; a pusher member carried on the power unit for selectively engaging the extension arm so as to cause the pawl to disengage from the ratchet teeth; spring means urging the pusher member towards the extension arm; means coupled to the pusher member for selectively restraining its movement; and restraining means being adapte

  • Patent number: 4690415
Abstract: A method and apparatus are shown for closing a spring collet upon a work piece in a lathe or similar machine tool, in which neither the work piece nor the collet is moved in the longitudinal or axial direction. The collet closer has a nosepiece assembly within which an axially movable sleeve is provided. Movement of the sleeve causes the collet to open or close, in a radial direction, without axial dislocation of either collet or work piece. The nosepiece assembly contains a hydraulic circuit which actuates the movable sleeve in response to movements of a draw bar.

  • Patent number: 4685099
Abstract: Method and apparatus for a duplex communication system wherein a local station transmits a modulated signal at a nominal, fixed frequency f.sub.1 to a remote station which transmits, simultaneously, to the local station, a modulated signal at a nominal, fixed frequency f.sub.2, which frequency f.sub.2 is displaced from frequency f.sub.1, by a frequency .vertline.f.sub.2 =f.sub.1 .vertline. being the intermediate frequency of the receivers at both the first and second stations. Novel transmitter signal suppression is provided in the circuits of the local and remote stations so that a common transmit-receive antenna may be utilized at each station without swamping either receiver's front-end circuits on transmission and optimum conversion gain may be realized on reception.

  • Patent number: 4628881
Abstract: An electronically controlled fuel supply system for an internal combustion engine. The timing of the commencement of fuel injection into each combustion chamber is not fixed relative to the rotational position of the camshaft or other engine components. A unit injector assembly associated with each combustion chamber includes a control module and an accumulator type injector module. The control module contains a solenoid valve and, in some embodiments, a hydraulic pressure intensifier. The accumulator type injector module contains an injector nozzle, a hydraulic accumulator, and a non-return valve for admitting liquid fuel under pressure into the accumulator. In operation, an electrical control system supplies an electrical signal to the control module an appreciable portion of the engine cycle in advance of the time when fuel injection is to be initiated in the particular combustion chamber.

  • Patent number: 4581686
Abstract: The present invention relates to a flashlight assembly having a rotatable head which acts as a switch mechanism for turning the light on or off.The flashlight has an elongated metal housing, and the rotatable head is also made of metal. A spacer member made of an electrical insulating material is securely attached to the head member. The spacer member threadedly engages threads formed on the housing. Thus, there is normally no electrical continuity between the metal head member and the metal housing. However, when the head member is rotated in a tightening direction, a flat annular face on the head member comes into mating engagement with a similar face on the housing, thus establishing electrical continuity between those two members and completing the internal electrical circuit of the flashlight.
