Abstract: A print head is secured to a print head carriage and movable along guide rails in printing operation. The carriage includes bearings engaging the guide rails which are secured to the frame of the printer. The print head carriage is made of conductive material to enable bonding of the print head through the carriage and the bearings and along the guide rails to the ground potential of the printer.

Abstract: A business form for use in an automated teller machine for business transactions. The business form is constructed of multiple plies to provide the user with a receipt of the transaction and to provide an envelope for enclosing a deposit slip or copy of the receipt for use by the business entity. The business form provides a means for both parties to have a copy of the business transaction for verification thereof.
Abstract: A reusable, thermal transfer ribbon includes a substrate, a functional coating consisting essentially of a carbon black emulsion, a hydrocarbon wax, and a thermoplastic resin, and a binding layer consisting essentially of a thermoplastic resin or a thermoplastic resin and a wax compound.
Abstract: A glue head/line flushing system uses compressed air to circulate a cleaning agent or solvent from a reservoir and through filtering elements to a solvent manifold. The glue head/line is connected to the solvent manifold and the glue and/or glue particles are flushed from the glue head/line. The glue head/line is then connected to an air manifold to remove any remaining particles of glue and also any solvent from the glue head/line.
Abstract: A variable intensity, ultraviolet lamp is used in a drying process. The ultraviolet lamp provides a low level intensity for use during a low intensity portion of the drying or curing cycle and provides a high level intensty for use during an increased or a maximum intensity portion of the cycle. Capacitors are switched into and out of a circuit which also includes a ballast transformer of the lamp for enabling variable intensity levels for use in the drying of printing ink on business forms or like media.
Abstract: A snap-fit fastening or mounting arrangement for a motor having a mounting flange. The fastening or mounting arrangement includes a side frame member having a pair of spring-like snap elements that are integral with the side frame member for securing the motor. The frame member also includes a pair of pilot studs integral therewith and positioned to be received by apertures in the mounting flange to resist torque of the motor. The side frame member includes a plurality of hubs as an integral portion thereof and gears are journaled on the hubs in an arrangement driven by the motor. A fastening element is provided with spring fingers which are inserted into the aperture of each hub and retained thereby to secure the respective gear on the hub.
Abstract: A dot matrix print head has a heat sink substantially surrounding the head for dissipating heat therefrom. A print head carriage includes a pivot or bearing assembly on one side of the print head and includes a bail type clamp pivoted on the carriage on the other side of the print head. The arrangement allows the heat sink to swing from a covered print head operating position to an uncovered position for servicing or for removing the print head.
