  • Patent number: 5249563
Abstract: Clay target/pigeon throwing machines/traps used is the activity of sport shooting. The clay targets being circular and somewhat disc shaped. More particularly, the clay target throwing machine is adapted to optionally and automatically throw, simultaneously, two targets. When the machine is set to throw one target it is designed so that each successive target which is thrown is directed in a direction which is randomly generated so that the target direction is not predictable by the shooter as he/she is triggering the throw of the target by the machine. Additionally, a plurality of targets may be loaded into an indexing carousel which automatically indexes either one or two of the targets to the load position and stays in position while an "elevator" lowers the target or targets into the firing or throwing position.

  • Patent number: 5199139
Abstract: A fastening device or apparatus wherein mechanical connection and/or disconnection or electrical connection and/or disconnection is accomplished as a result of the deformation of an oval/ellipse shaped component--the deformable component--which may preferably have an elliptical aperture therethrough. Deformation may result from the application of a deforming force which causes the decrease in length of the major axis and a consequent increase in length of the minor axis of the ellipse. The deforming force may be applied by any known means such as by magnetic fields applied where the deformable component may have incorporated therein material which is sensitive and reactive to such magnetic fields or by the application of mechanical pressure from a piston driven by magnetic forces or hydraulic forces and/or forces created by temperature changes such as are known and found in a class of materials characterized as "SHAPE MEMORY ALLOYS".

  • Patent number: 5130689
Abstract: Gold, copper, silver, palladium or aluminum and their alloys, but preferably gold or gold alloy, which may be in the form a wire, has deposited thereon or contained within the wire, a material such as metals or metal alloys which diffuse into the gold or into the other listed metals. With the passage of time and exposure to temperature the deposited metal or metal alloy continues to diffuse into the gold forming intermetallics with the gold and thereby causing the resistivity of the gold to increase and causing the gold to become progressively more brittle until such time as the gold wire ruptures at a stress point. At a given temperature the elapsed time until rupture takes place depends upon the metal or metal alloys deposited on or contained within the gold. Lead, indium, gallium, tin, bismuth and aluminum and the alloys of these metals diffuse into and form intermetallics with the gold.
